I emailed Heinz this morning asking about a product that I wanted to use in a recipe and I got back this wonderful email that I thought might help others out. Here you go.

Yup, that's why we like Heinz! ;)

kds0 Newbie

wow that is very weird because I used to use Worcestershire Sauce in cooking alot and I recently looked at the ingredient list on my Lea & Perrins Worcestershire Sauce and it had wheat in the ingredient list.

Note for any Canadians reading here: In Canada, Lea & Perrins Worcestershire Sauce is NOT gluten-free. The Canadian recipe uses malt vinegar.

Just wanted to clarify something for canadians who may be reading this. In canada the lea Perrins Worcestershire sauce isn't gluten free it is made from Barley, So any canadians looking at this email do not go by it. Hopefully this is not the same one that Heinz is refering to for the US, the info is at this website.

Open Original Shared Link (canadians) Under ingredients it: Contains Barley

Open Original Shared Link States it's gluten free.

Do any of you canadians on here know of a Worcestershire Sauce that is gluten free, I would love to find one, for drinking ceasers my favorite drink in the world, but yet to find a Gluten free Worcestershire sauce I can add to it!

I was going to note the Canadian recipe/ difference, but Peter beat me to it. ;) Lea & Perrins is gluten free in the US not Canada.

There is a similar situation with Campbell's US and Canada. Both have different gluten free listings.

Please note the absence of beef & cheese or chicken & cheese "Taquitos". I have yet to find any brand that does not have flour in the cheese.

best regards, lm

I have not contacted them for about a year, and I swear at that time Jack Daniel's barbecue sauce was NOT on their gluten free list. I'm excited about JD barbecue sauce being gluten free. It was always a favorite of mine, and I'm getting a little tired of Sweet Baby Rays. It's great sauce, but I thing I need a break from it.

You might want to consider Crosse & Blackwell. The Worcestershire Sauce is made in the US by Smucker and imported into Canada by Smucker Foods of Canada Co. At one time, Smucker was known to have a policy to clearly disclose gluten, but in the past year there has been some doubt cast on whether this is still the case. The only potentially problematic ingredient is "Natural flavours." I'll let Shelley Case take it from here in an excerpt from her book, Gluten-Free Diet, A Comprehensive Resource Guide, Expanded Edition, ISBN 1-897010-28-1 (p 46):

It would be rare to find a "natural or artificial flavoring" containing gluten because: [a] hydrolyzed wheat protein cannot be hidden under the term "flavor," and barley malt extract or barley malt flavoring is almost always declared as "barley malt extract" or "barley malt flavoring." For this reason, most experts do not restrict natural and artificial flavorings in the gluten-free diet.

You decide.

I had read earlier that the apple cider FLAVORED vinegar could contain gluten. Does anyone know when this changed? I have pickles I canned here that I haven't eaten in fear of gluten.

It's actually something I cannot find locally at all due to my more rural location.  I can also not find it at Walmart, Costco, or Sam's Club where I have looked when we have traveled.  So many nut options have added oil now.  Ordering online is my only option at this point.

I would be surprised if anyone could taste the difference--salted dry roasted almonds should not be hard to find. As mentioned in my last post, nuts.com may not be for you if you are avoiding peanuts.
    • WVGirl
Has anyone taste tested the nuts from Nuts.com and Tierra Farm?  I'm looking for salted, dry roasted almonds with nothing else added.  Most brands add peanut or canola oil.

Welcome back! It sounds like you’ve been navigating a lot, but it’s encouraging to hear that your last IVIg cycle brought some improvement in vision and ataxia—fingers crossed that continued treatment helps even more over time. The phlebitis must be frustrating, though; hopefully, your care team can find a solution (maybe a different IV site, slower infusion rate, or even a port if needed). On the gluten front, I hear your discouragement about eating out. Even tiny exposures can keep antibody levels elevated, especially with celiac or severe gluten sensitivity. It might be worth trying a strict "home-only" phase for a few months to see if your AGA IgA drops further—then you’ll know for sure if restaurants are the culprit. (And yes, dedicated gluten-free spots are the safest bet!) For vitamins: Since your B12 is high, testing other B vitamins (folate/B9, B6, thiamine/B1) could be helpful, as deficiencies in those are common with gluten-related issues and can worsen neurological symptoms. A comprehensive micronutrient panel (like SpectraCell or Genova’s NutrEval) might give deeper insight, but if insurance won’t cover it, targeting B1/B6/B9 tests is practical. For supplements, brands like Pure Encapsulations, Thorne, and Seeking Health are well-trusted for quality and purity (their B-complexes skip unnecessary additives). If you’re sensitive to synthetic forms, look for methylated B vitamins (e.g., methylfolate instead of folic acid). Your current regimen sounds thoughtful—just double-check that your multi doesn’t overlap excessively with your individual supplements!

I was diagnosed in 2003 with celiac. The rosacea in my eye started one year ago.
