gluten-free Bisquick

So I am so excited for the gluten-free Bisquick but cannot find it anywhere :( I live in Buffalo NY and even Wegmans doesnt have it. Anybody here find it around you? And if so where are you from- I would definitely road trip for this!!

I bought it at Wegman's in Southern New Jersey. Maybe the store near you was out of it? You could try asking the manager--I've found Wegmans most helpful when I've had to ask about something.

Hi BcG,

Sorry I don't have an answer about your bisquick because I'm from Canada but I'm wondering if you can let me know what the best store is in Buffalo to buy gluten free products (most variety). I'll be in Buffalo this weekend and I'm going to totally stock up (we don't have much here in Canada!). Also, have you seen Udi's bread around your neck of the woods?

Wegmans usually is super helpful usually- Not this time! I called two different locations and they didnt even know what i was talking about. When i called a few months ago about the Betty Crocker cake and brownie mixes- completely differnt situation. But I guess they just arent carrying them yet=- Guess I'll have to request it to be stocked- I hate being that girl!! lol

Dont apologize!! Wegmans is the place to be for gluten-free. If you buy their brand name they will put Gluten free on the front. And they have a section with all sorts of stuff. Havent found any UDI's around but there is a health food store on Maple Rd. in Amherst called Feel-Rite Fresh Market & Natural Food www.feel-rite.com

3912 Maple Road, Amherst - (716) 834-3385. They dont have UDI's they are getting it in a few weeks but i called the guys there and he said they have a few kinds from local bakeries around here that are pretty good- I might go get some after work and ill let ya know tomorrow what i think!! But they seem to have a good selection by what he said on the phone.

I wonder if that blogger used a recipe from the BC gluten free site or just tried to make something up? You can't use the gluten-free stuff in the same way you would use the regular Bisquick. I made a zucchini pie with the gluten-free Bisquick and it was awesome! I ate it for three meals straight it was so good. Someone posted the recipe here, but I do believe it came from the BC website originally. My only complaint about this stuff is that it's expensive for such a little box. After I made the pie there was not enough to make biscuits.

I found mine in Lowes Foods in Raleigh, NC, BTW.

Don't call the stores call the main office at 1-800-wegmans. They will be able to help you much easier. I have always found them to be really freindly and they will be able to tell you if and when the product will be in the store near you. It took a while but they finally got the gluten-free Bisquick in my local Wegmans in the regular baking mix section not Natures Market where I thought it would be.

I was suspicious...the betty crocker chocolate chip cookies I tried were aweful! I will stick to my from scratch recipies!

She's got an axe to grind. Yes, Bisquick is white flour awfulness, but it does make a crunchy golden crust when you follow the directions. It isn't cheap, it isn't great, but it comes in very handy in a pinch and is in ALL the grocery stores where I live.

I'll agree that I have made better tasting stuff. That said, I made waffles out of it and they were really good! I have tried to follow other recipes for them and have failed. I like the convenience of the stuff, especially if the husband needs to make something in a hurry. He isn't into mixing all of the different flours. I may keep it around just to make waffles.

I have to agree with this. Wonder where she got the recipe that turned out so terrible as I don't recall seeing it on the liveglutenfreely website. Sometimes I need something quick and we don't have a store full of choices for gluten free items (at least where I live). I appreciate having a company like General Mills make gluten free items that are readily available in so many stores.

I haven't made much yet but the pancakes are delish! My 11-year old granddaughter couldn't tell the difference between them and the gluteny ones her Mom makes.

That surprises me. I've made cookies several times from the BC CC product, and have had excellent results every time. Super simple to make. I add extra chips and lots of nuts. The only problem I had, was you need to put the dough in the fridge for a few minutes and in between batches. Otherwise it may spread out too thin when cooking.

But that's the same thing you have to do for made from scratch gluten-free cookies, which are a real PITA, due to all the ingredients. Plus, there was a pretty big learning curve for me when I first attempted gluten-free CC cookies from scratch. BTW, I considered myself to be a pretty good baker before gluten-free. But no matter how much I tried, I could never make good gluten-free bread.

Yeah--me too. The only reason I don't make them very often is that I eat too many :P

Even my picky, non gluten-free son likes them.

LM--I find that if I put the butter out on the counter in the wrapper a few hours before baking and let it come to room temperature slowly, the dough has a better consistency and the cookies don't spread too much.

Me too! My husband is trying to go gluten free so I made some Gluten free BC cookies for him. He said they were the best cookies I've ever made! (He may have been a little over dramatic, LOL, he's been deprived because I'm not baking gluten cookies anymore). Anyway I tried one (despite the soy) and I couldn't tell any difference between them and regular BC cookie mix. The main trick I have learned is to use really cold butter or put the dough in the fridge as lm suggests. Also, the dough should be crumbly when you put it on the cookie sheet. It will look awful, like you did something wrong, but it will bake up into nice thick cookies.

Really? Did you use real butter and follow the recipe exactly? My whole family loves them and every gluten eater I feed them to goes nuts for them. They are my go to cookies. I wonder why they didnt' turn out.

They have the gluten free Bisquick at my local Vons but it was $6.50 for a tiny box!! YIKES! So I didn't buy it.

      Thanks everyone. I've decided to do a gluten challenge (4 slices of bread a day for 3 months) and then do a full gluten panel of all the tests that can be done, just to rule it in or out for sure. I think otherwise psychologically it will keep bothering me

      Thanks Scott. Those articles are really interesting. I’m cutting out gluten for 6 weeks but honestly I’m not sure I even want to reintroduce it! I ate at a restaurant for the first time on Wednesday and then Thursday was really uncomfortable and had a few trips to the loo.. wonder if there was some cross contamination 🤷‍♀️ if that’s how my body reacts after not eating it for 3 weeks I’m not sure it’s worth reintroducing it and re testing for celiac! It might have been a coincidence I realise that I’m not going to feel better all of a sudden and my gut is probably still trying to heal. Thanks for your supportive message!

      Reference range 0.00 to 10.00 means that within that range is normal, so not celiac. There are other antibodies that can be present in celiac disease and they don’t all have to be positive to have celiac.  I’m sure someone else will post a link to an article describing them! Plus, if you are IgA deficient the celiac IgA tests won’t be accurate.

      Julia530 - I have the same gene structure and most of the symptoms you have experienced plus more.....I agree with you whole heartedly!! There are approximately 10 (NOT TWO) genes that can predispose a person to having Celiac Disease. I read in Pub Med that HLA DQA1:05  can result in Celiac Disease in approximately 1 in 875 people. While it is obviously more rare it is NOT BENIGN and should not go unnoticed. Go get the book "NO GRAIN, NO PAIN" and I highly suggest you read it cover to cover. It is written by a Chiropractor who quit his medical education when the VA wouldn't allow him to treat the Veterans with debilitating arthritis with a grain free diet. I have been grain free for over 10 years now.....the facts are we are being lied to! There is a form or gluten in every protein in every grain on the planet of which there are 1000 or more. Just because all they are testing for is the Gliadin in wheat is no excuse to report only partial facts.
