  2. I haven't eaten at dennys since dx, however I have been at a couple of breakfast places (small town type) and so long as you are specific with things, they're okay. I know big food chains like Ihop add pancake batter to their scrambled eggs, so don't order that!! I usually just make sure everything can be made w/ fresh ingredients, and on a clean grill. Mostly...
  3. this is a great idea for a support group! I wish i were still a teen...I'd join! Most of the people at my group meetings are older, or at least have kids. I still feel like a kid myself sometimes! lol I hope that you get to help a lot of teens out there!
  4. I love fruit leather. I buy the "Stretch Island" kind...can't remember if that's the brand. They have it at some health food stores, and at costco. It's really yummy! Made with just fruit puree and juice concentrate I think. Also, Almond Breeze is a good chocolate milk substitute. I still have a hard time drinking milk, so I drink that instead. It tastes...
  5. Robina, what is a gingerbread truffle? It sounds delicious! I'd love a copy of your mom's recipes
  6. I found the recipe here a couple weeks back, and have been debating trying it out. Tonight I gave in. It was so great! I made the donuts into little "holes" after making a few regular donuts, as I wanted to take some to a couple of friends. They were great! Even gluten eating dh and his brother said they tasted like the real thing...home-made donuts, not...
  7. hm, sounds good, but I am not a huge fan of the taste of cilantro. anyone have good recipes that downplay the spice? I would love the benefit to my stomach!
  8. Thanks for all the advice. I think we're just gonna keep it simple: turkey (a smaller one, but w/ enough for leftovers) mashed potatoes gravy green beans rolls dessert (@ inlaws) Neither of us are big on stuffing so that makes it easier Hm, now what to flavor the bird with...veggies sound good, an orange sounds good, apple and veggies...
  9. How frustrating! lol my dh sometimes thinks he's being very helpful by bringing home taco bell...oh yeah, i forgot you can't eat this.... I had an annoying experience today at the movie theater. Went to see the new bond movie w/ dh, and was sitting next to this woman who downed 2 hot dogs in about 5 minutes, then went through a bag of popcorn and 2 drinks...
  10. I agree with the comforting of other people. I have always loved to cook, even before going gluten-free, so I am very interested in how other people make dishes. I usually try and find out what special ingredients were used, and make a comment as to how I could attempt to copy the dish gluten-free. People love praise for their food, so I let them know how...

  14. Uh, I just realized that thanksgiving is VERY soon...and I've never cooked a turkey. It's just gonna be me and husband, so...how big of a bird should I get? i also want to have some ham, but that I'd be okay buying precooked. Do I need to buy a roasting pan or something for the bird? how should I season it? Will it be okay w/out stuffing inside? lol I'm such...

Open Original Shared Link I know that some meat products have gluten-containing sauces...

  19. Thanks guys! I think I want to do this for more of a personal thing/something to give friends and family members to clue them in a bit...but if I were to take this to local health food stores would that be a problem? I guess I'm pretty clueless...lol. I suppose I have time to work this out (I haven't even STARTED!!)
  20. I was told by my nutritionist. I actually think she referred me to the celiac.com site, and I found the forum from there Glad I did too!
  21. This is the only of Amy's products that I have ever had a hard time w/. I was also taking antibiotics, but I got very violently ill about an hour after eating the shepherd pie. I would recommend everyone stay away from it. I just at the cheese enchiladas today for lunch. THey're pretty good. Never reacted to them. Or the pizza, which I love, or the mac and...
