  1. I still didn't get enough details to know what to suggest. Do you eat in restaurants? Do you eat take out food? Do you eat packaged foods? Do you share a kitchen with gluten eaters? What precautions do you take to make sure that your food doesn't get cross contaminated?
  2. Have you been diagnosed with celiac disease or gluten sensitivity? What do you mean by following the gluten free diet as strict as you know how? It is possible that you are missing something.
  3. No, it was not. " Twenty-two adult patients having 2 positives celiac disease-specific tests were enrolled." I imagine you were confused by the name of the probiotic: Bifidobacterium infantis.
  4. There is a study, though small, that shows that probiotics help celiac disease: Open Original Shared Link, and a larger study on IBS: Open Original Shared Link I don't try things unless I have some good evidence of efficacy. I understand where you are coming from, Tbolt47. However, there is a difference between thinking analytically and being dismissive...
  5. Thank you for posting that Irish. It's a good article. It says that the original report relied on a handful of deeply flawed studies and ignored more than 1,000 quality peer reviewed studies.
  6. I drink coffee and I have problems with all sorts of other things. Coffee has been found to be contaminated with gluten containing materials on occasion. Open Original Shared Link I buy whole beans to avoid that possibility.
  7. I am sorry to hear that you are dealing with this. I had terrible anxiety as a celiac symptom, and it comes back readily when I am glutened. I can't help myself. I know that it is the glutening but still I freak out and overreact about everything. I take a probiotic every day and still if I get glutened I get that terrible anxiety. I am just coming out...
  8. I had decades of not tolerating lactose. After about a year gluten-free I started trying it again, and now I can tolerate several cups of milk in a day.
  9. I have heard of examples of where flourless cakes were baked in pans that were dusted with flour to not stick. That would be my best guess. You could ask the chef about that and then you would know what to avoid. He may not have thought of that. I hope that you feel better soon.
  10. I read up on the omega ratio thing too. It does look like a good idea to try to optimize your ratio. I don't think that it could explain why I don't react to pasture raised chicken eggs, but I do react to grain fed chicken eggs, because as you say, things mix in the stomach, or what good would supplementation do?
  11. I do better with Thai rice. I hope that you feel better soon.
  12. Kareng, this is my understanding of the test. Antibodies are present in the intestine in much higher concentrations than in the bloodstream so these tests will pick up gluten antibodies at less advanced stages of gluten intolerance. That is why they say that a gluten challenge isn't necessary. They figure that accidental cc will enough to give a positive...
  13. If you have thyroid problems you might want to look into this: Open Original Shared Link "millets are also a mild Open Original Shared Link inhibitor and probably should not be consumed in great quantities by those with Open Original Shared Link."
  14. I do know someone who had a positive test and then after a rigorous gluten FREE (correction) diet he got retested and had a negative test. That led me to try it myself. I do agree that stool testing is not accepted for celiac disease diagnosis by celiac researchers. I think that the reason is that it gives positive results for people who test negative...
  15. I can't help but agree. I haven't tried it myself.
  16. I'm sorry that you got glutened and hope that you will feel better soon. From hard experience, I can tell you that it is really difficult to know where glutenings are coming from. In my case, it takes about a day to know and by that time there are lots of possibilities. This is especially true early on. It will help to keep track with a food/symptom journal...
  17. Some don't though and those who are sensitive to smaller traces need to be more careful, however small a number that might be. I can personally attest that is the case with my son and with me. I agree that there are other possibilities that you can pursue first, but keep this one in the back of your mind in case those don't work.
  18. I am not a GMO defender. I have problems with large amounts of herbicides used in conjunction with some GMO crops. Nonetheless, I have heard many interviews with top scientists who say that there is no good evidence for theories about harm of GMOs. They say that the reports that are often quoted have been debunked and/or are of poor quality without adequate...
  19. Did you say something about eating Goldfish crackers? Were they the gluten-free ones? You don't say when that happened or how long you have been actually gluten-free. I think that if you are still accidentally eating gluten, it is too soon to worry about super sensitivity. Why not give the regular gluten-free diet a proper try first? Or, if you wish...
  20. I think that you are right about this. Personally, I am just happy when I can be symptom free. That's difficult enough. I source everything very carefully and grow what I can myself.
  21. I was vegetarian for about 30 years on diagnosis, the last 20 or so of those vegan. I ate meat for a year or so post diagnosis thinking that I needed it and now I am back to ovo lacto vegetarian. I feel like that much is necessary as I have problems finding tolerable supplements. That seems to be working for now. I was vegan because of symptoms rather...
  22. I am sorry that this is so difficult. Let me explain how cross contamination affects my son and I. We are both very sensitive and I would guess that you don't have to be as extreme as we do. I just want to explain what to consider when it comes to cross contamination and your meals. Pancakes - how do you make them? Are you using gluten free flours...
  23. I am one of those who is sensitive to cross contamination. I had to take a lot of measures to eliminate it before I could be symptom free. I don't know that I would have wanted to do that without symptoms. Those numbers are pretty low. If you think that cc is the issue, I can tell you what worked for me, and you can decide whether or not you want to go...
  24. How old is this kiddo? Could he be eating at friend's houses? Could he be cheating, or accidentally getting some gluten somewhere? What's in his diet?
