  1. I used to think I was getting glutened a lot of the time (when I really wasn't) when I first started out. Turned out I was just bloated because I wasn't properly digesting/absorbing fats. I have found that if you're pretty sure it's not gluten, it's always something else. How long have you been gluten free? If it hasn't been that long then it's probably...
  2. A lot of issues usually crop up when digestion becomes compromised as it does with Celiac. One of those issues is known as Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth. Basically the bad bacteria take over and it usually leads to bloating and is believed to be one of the main causes of IBS. For this I'd recommend enteric coated peppermint oil capsules. I took them...
  3. Are your vitamins food based? Or synthetic? What percentage of the DV's are in the vitamins you're currently taking? What makes you think you need to take more? Are you tired a lot?
  4. You could not have been more spot on. Nearly all the things you mentioned I think about or have thought about at one time or another. I think it really just about going with it, having confidence with your disease. Almost as if to say "Psh, you wish you had Celiac Disease, then you'd be forced to eat a lot healthier and live a lot longer." Ok maybe that...
  5. Hahah good one.. I've been on and off them. I'm on them right now, but my only issue with taking them is that sometimes food seems to digest too quickly (mainly carbs + fiber) and it tends to irritate my small intestine. Right now I am taking Pancreatin x 8 by Source Naturals. What ones did you take? I think I really only need pure lipase...
  6. I hear ya man. I feel the same way. I just found out last year I had issues with gluten and to be honest, I was a lot happier not knowing. Ignorance truly is bliss. I too feel like my confidence is shot. Because at least before I knew who I was, it was something familiar. Now it's like who I am really. What can I attribute to the gluten and what can't I....
  7. I have been gluten and dairy free (for the most part) for almost ten months now. And I am 19 so I should have healed up pretty quickly. But I notice I am still having issues with fats. I do not seem to be properly absorbing them, still. And I tend to get bloated with their consumption. Did it take anyone else this long to have no issues with fats? Or...
  8. Can it? I have noticed that I feel the best when I eat nothing but fruits, vegetables, white rice, and lean meats. So of course, I treat to eat nothing but these, but when I do eat these I can never fall asleep. I usually have to gorge for a couple of hours on junk food before I can fall asleep. I also try to minimize my fat intake as much as possible...
  9. I can't really relate with the whole neurological issue part. But I do know that twitching nerves and muscles can be due to a magnesium deficiency, so you may want to look into that.
  10. It is merely a process that you will go through. Any sudden major change to your diet will take some time for your body to get used to it. It is just like anything else. If you one day removed all soda from your diet, your mind would be craving a soda. Just give your body some time to adjust and it should pass quickly.
  11. Definitely see your Doc. Also, if you still have a fever now might now be the best time, but you could try some vegetable based digestive enzymes. They help a great deal in digesting your food and cleaning out your colon if it happens to be clogged with undigested gluten or other waste.
  12. To answer your question, no, I do not think so. Caffeine is a drug and is a known irritant to the gut lining. I would wait at least 6 months before trying it again, sorry. That does explain why Tea does not bother you. The ultimate test would be to drink decaffeinated coffee and see if you have any issues.
  13. Do you take L-Glutamine supplements? Those can also cause elevated liver enzymes.
  14. I occasionally have mild problems with spicy foods if I over do it. But it is definitely not uncommon, spicy foods can irritate an already out of wack stomach/small intestine. Just try to avoid them as much as possible and then slowly and gradually reintroduce them back into your diet.
  15. My reactions only became less severe after being gluten-free for about 7 months. Honestly, it does not sound like a common thing, but everyone is different. How long, if at all, were you gluten-free before starting the gluten challenge?
  16. Any kind of sudden change in anyone's diet is going to cause some kind of upset. So yes, what you are experiencing is very common and should pass rather quickly. I have been gluten free for nearly 9 months and still get the occasional heartburn if I eat a lot of grains. You also might want to consider the fact that too many digestive enzymes and probiotics...
  17. I believe our bodies only need 500 milligrams of sodium a day in order to maintain their proper electrolyte balances. Instead of using table salt, try unrefined, sun dried sea salt (available at your local Trader Joe's). It contains loads of minerals that our bodies need including magnesium, potassium, and calcium. Sea salt also actually contains significantly...
  18. Maybe this is a stupid question, but instead of religiously following the SCD couldn't one just supplement with Pancreatin? That way the disaccharides and polysaccharides are digested for you. Just a thought.
  19. I can totally understand you wanting to get an "official diagnosis" just for your own sake. I myself tested negative for all celiac tests including a biopsy. It took me a long time to accept the fact that just because modern medicine cannot officially recognize my disorder, that does not mean it is not real. But I believe gluten intolerance is actually...
  20. It is not uncommon for people to appear more sensitive to gluten after going gluten-free. In some sense your body got used to constantly being poisoned and built up defenses. But now that you removed the poison, the body isn't used to it anymore so when it does get it again, it overreacts. Reactions for me seemed to be the same for about the first 6 months...
  21. Wow, thanks for the update. Good thing I never tried those!
  22. If you are in fact gluten intolerant, my guess would be that it is just a delayed reaction from consuming gluten at an earlier time. I do not want to sound like I am doubting you but please do not limit yourself to just a diagnosis of Celiac disease. It is important to rule out every thing else first. What makes diagnosing gluten intolerance so difficult...
  23. Man do I know exactly what you're going through. I missed nearly a month of classes because I did not know I was gluten intolerant (all the tests for celiac disease were coming up as negative). And this all happened to me freshmen year. It IS a lot to deal with, but it's certainly not impossible. For better or for worse I seem to be a pill popper or an herb...
  24. You're definitely not alone and it's definitely not in your head. I stupidly took a landscaping job this summer and absolutely hate the work. It is not that I am lazy, it is just my energy is so valuable that all of it really should be going to healing and not working. On days when I work for too long or too hard, I usually get very loose BMs and sometimes...
  25. I am also highly sensitive to any CC and have confirmation that Blue Diamonds Almonds are perfectly safe, even the majority of the flavored ones are ok. Just be careful of a couple of their flavors like Wasabi and Soy Sauce. Those do have wheat but it is clearly listed. I think there is also one other flavor that might have gluten so just read the labels...
