  1. Yeah, Risotteria is definitely on the list!! Is the gluten-free pizza always available or only on certain days? Thanks for the tips! Not sure where we are staying yet...

    ARCHIVED Milk!

Damn Vincent! (Only if its detrimental to our health) Patty and Jnkmnky--I do agree with what you've said. There was quite a bit of discussion on similarities in effects of milk to gluten in Dangerous Grains...did you read that? My affinity for smacking down marketing milk-pushers aside though...I would be eating cheese right now if I could
  3. Oops Pauliina--Just realized I quoted you on accident in my post! I'll get rid of that b/c I wasn't thinking you were telling people to go off the diet, but maybe it seemed that way since I accidentally had your post there? I don't know...either way, I didn't think you wre suggesting that.
  4. Erin- I had cystitis for a period of time, but eventually it went away...Strange as it was. Docs didn't have any answers, just tried lots of antibiotics. For me it coincided with the onset of an infection and then a ruptured cyst, but it persisted for months after both of those had been resolved. My only symptoms was feeling like I always had to go to...
  5. Hello! First off, IBS, I think is a catch-all term docs often use to label those who have not been identified with a disease or illness. That is what happened to me (and many others here). I was told I had IBS for a decade and a half...till I was finally diagnosed with Celiac last year. If your doc is still telling you IBS after all that weight loss-...
  6. Remember that thread?? I know celiac3270 was on it recommending places! Thanks--will be going out to NYC in May and want to get planning! (Or if you want to rec a new place and don't where the thread is that's ok too : )
  7. That stinks girl! Glad you are okay though... I also rec the whole foods route suggested here. But as far as packaged type foods.... You probably already know this but all of enjoylife's and namaste's products are free of all the foods you listed. Namaste's blondies are great--esp with chocolate chips (enjoylifes are safe for you) other snacks for...

    ARCHIVED Milk!

To add to what jnkmnky wrote... We are human, but still belong to the "animal kingdom" and we are the only mammals that continue to consume milk after infancy. Hmmmm....
  9. I also describe "brain fog" as feeling disoriented, confused, dizzy-like. Mallymamma--You are asking some excellent questions here--ones we don't know all the answers too! Much of Celiac is still uncharted territory...but hopefully that will continue to change in the new future. It is possible that some folks experience a period of "remission" from...
  10. I also don't know of any others besides Enjoylife--but maybe one of glutino/glutano's cereals are? I have eaten the erewhon cereals w/o issues also. One to try might be Perky's Nutty Rice--my absolute favorite. It has been bought my enjoylife and I know they take the cc issue very seriously and do batch testing in addition to cc procedures.
  11. very cute!
  12. I love that magazine too! Haven't looked at my latest issue--will ck page 268 tonight!
  13. Like I said earlier...they are a rare company ! Most companies wouldn't even conceive of testing if one person reports a problem! Keep us updated when you get the results!
  14. Sad to hear--and I'm on my way to NYC this spring too--dang it!
  15. I can't remember what our Kroger carries exactly...but I do use Pacific Rice Milk and like it alot. Full Circle original is also gluten-free if they carry that.
  16. Vincent- I pasted some info on differences btwn intols and classic allergies below. NOT always, but in what I've seen, a conventional milk "allergy" produces more of a classic allergic reaction, usually immediate swelling, rash, breathing problems, itching, hives, vomiting... An intolerance seems to be more along the lines of constipation or D, headaches...
  17. here is a good thread on the oats debate you can read: Open Original Shared Link So you were tested and all your tests were negative and you have no noticeable issues with gluten? (Wasn't sure from your post)... There are two things with oats. 1st, most oats are contaminated in the US--just part of the growing, processing/milling etc...so, most aren...
  18. I took Zelnorm pre-diagnosis. Before I would ever recommend it, or another med to someone is if they have tried all the other alternatives unsuccessfully: fiber therapy (natural fiber), changed diet, natural supplements, good physical exam. I believe there are a lot of folks on it that could find other solutions, but unfortunately doctors don't push those...

    ARCHIVED Milk!

I really dig my rice milks. Granted, I don't drink them straight, I stopped doing that with milk years ago, but it is good on my cereal or even chocolate, or in recipes...
  20. Mallysmama-- I think sometimes overgeneralization can happen and gluten gets blamed for things that have actually have a different cause. However, in some cases people do have unique gluten reactions and can track things pretty well. I think what you've asked is an excellent question. I have GI issues and random symptoms that come up but I hardly ever...
  21. well Jen, it is your body...so I guess its okay good luck and hope you find one you like!
  22. I think Amy's proved their genuine concern and desire to create safe products in how they responded to Berneses last year. If you want to help improve their products, save the upcs and give them to Amy's so they can track the batches and investigate like Berneses did.
  23. Deli Selects--smoked ham (love really thin sliced meat, thick slices of lunch meat gross me out for some reason). Also like the oven roasted chicken.
  24. I love sorbet! It is my dairy free "icecream" I haven't seen Sharon's but will keep an eye out. My favorite--I love--is Cioa Bella sorbets-soo good! Coconut also and a ton of other flavors. Last time I went to the store that carries them (on other side of town) I stocked up on $30 worth!!! Don't worry--it will last me for a while
