  1. lmao (sorry, I can't help it) But even you said, "please don't laugh, lol" I would think being single and young and healthy and energetic would make it all the easier to have it once a day if you feel so compelled. Although anything done every day might lose it's appeal, don't you think? Where's the "special-ness", the "excitement", the "thrill of...
  2. Before I tell you what I have noticed, please note that I am grain, dairy and legume free. I am also low histamine, so my "diet" is complicated. And I have not given up alcohol. lol............. but I can tell you this: After 6 weeks, I feel pretty good. I haven't used that word to describe myself since, well.......EVER. Do I still have pain? yes...
  3. ...you had me at creme brulee Now, I can make my own, but why should I, if I can get it out? Another reason to love BONEFISH GRILL.
  4. This is a very wise approach to dining out ANYWHERE. This is life with celiac, unfortunately. Most places do the very best they can to accommodate us and still , accidental CCs can occur. There is a Brazilian steakhouse nearby and soon, we hope to give it a try.
  5. I miss risotto a little bit, but I make cauliflower rice and "zoodles" (zucchini noodles) and that keeps me interested enough to stick with it for a while. I enjoy Danielle Walkers's site Against All Grains (and I have her book) Her story about healing from Ulcerative Colitis--just by following a paleo diet after all the meds in the world were just not...
  6. Oh hush up, you little wiseacre! Tomorrow, it should be back up in the 70's. Thank goodness. I did not move here to have temps less than Alberta! lol I do laugh at the people dressed in layers as if it's Vermont.. ohmygosh, I thought Vancouver Island was one of the most delightful places I have ever visited (this was years ago and I keep saying "we...
  7. Not sure that any hair dye products would be an issue since you are not ingesting them. I was gray at 30 (I know, not fair!) lol and started dying it then. Not gonna be white. Nope, no way! lol
  8. My wonderful hubs went gluten-free with me (of his own accord) about 2 weeks after my DX. Having worked in labs, he said he felt the CC issue was just too big a risk for me and honestly, I was very very ill and could barely make my own food, much less pay attention to separate condiments, etc. I am a bit of a gourmet cook and believe me, we eat well! Gluten...
  9. One of my all time fave quotes. A while back, you wrote on a thread: "The Earth, itself is a shared facility." I never forgot that one, Peter and I use it often. It's the truth. PS the link to the article is broken.
  10. OUCH. Actually..."celiac disease and stupid doctors" was not "all that was ever wrong with me." I am not sure why you are directing your sarcasm at me. I had many complications and several health problems that may never resolve and osteoarthritis and, and, and...I could go on....do you want a list? ?? I did say that many things CAN resolve off...
  11. I can't speak for anyone else, but here's how I look at "bad habits". I don't view any of them as "bad" for starters, because who's to say what's "bad"....? but I do look at the weight of the consequences of smoking and lung, jaw or throat cancer is pretty compelling evidence for me to quit smoking. The most torturous thing I saw was a very handsome...
  12. Who's the wise guy that sent the polar vortex down here? It was 40 at 6:00 am. That's just wrong. I had to drape my sleeping cat over me like a blankie to stay warm.
  13. What is interesting, though is that the same website you link to mentions all the adrenal conditions, but there is nothing called adrenal fatigue listed there. I'd like to just share my own experience for any readers of the thread. **Please note: I am not knocking any of your experiences, okay. People get so upset when an opposing position is presented...
  14. well, that is true lol....and .... you're very special indeed.
  15. less worried about wrinkles....they give us character.....more worried about intestinal lymphoma...that gives us, well...nothing good. XX
  16. I have to applaud some members that I know have chucked the butts as of Jan. 1 I will not name them., but they rhyme with: "snot see" and "BeeEff BLover" I am so proud of you girls. XXXOOO If that's not enough, you all should know that smoking is the WORST thing you can do for your GI tract as it causes gastritis and .... uncontrolled gastritis...
  17. oh thank goodness, I just asked Karen if she had "seen you" on any of the threads. I figured you were on break, but when I do not see you for a while, I do start to worry a little bit.... What can I say, you're our "kid". lol OK It is cold here today and I know you are all happy about it so The neighbors cover their veggie gardens at nighttime....
  18. I have heard of it. A massage therapist I saw once kept pressing me to use it. She was going to cure me of my osteoarthritis. (that's what she said) I have an open mind (to a point) and so, I researched it and discussed it with my in-house chemist (who used it in the garden at one point) and well, let's say we concluded it's not going to help me with...
  19. well, I think you're a pretty tough cookie, hon! (in a good way!!) And for all my tough girl talk, let's see how I feel about "extreme hot" this July. Maybe it's different when you are just "visiting" as opposed to living it for months and months. I'll probably have to start a "Hot sweltering summer" thread and whine there..... then you can...
  20. HUH? I still do not see how a (possibly dirty from hitting the floor briefly) bottle cap and a glass of ginger ale (which is G F) can be construed as her family "conspiring against her" to gluten her. Seriously, let's be realistic here. This incident is hardly evidence of that kind of malicious behavior.
  21. I said that for years, until that was just a crock. (for me) Well, 30 Celcius is warm, but not oppressive. (to me) If it's "too hot" down here, you go inside....that's why they Invented central air. Honestly, by the ocean, there is a breeze and I have been here in August and never felt like it was that horrid. Maybe our bodies are all...
  22. I am trying to understand exactly how you would be glutened from a bottle cap falling on the floor. Just can't be possible, hon unless the floor is filled with wheat flour or bread crumbs. Just highly unlikely, IMO. You mention there is "nothing gluten-y allowed in the kitchen" so then, the chances are pretty good there are no crumbs on that floor...
  23. Oh, for pete's sake. Dear celebrities, Just call it a grain free paleo diet and stop saying "gluten free" is good for weight loss. Thanks!
  24. . I take this quercetin. No gluten Open Original Shared Link My advice? Just avoid the high histamine foods and do not get all crazy about the rest. I have a banana once and while and nothing bad happens. It's about LOADING your system. Example: Let's say you have some aged cheese, pepperoni and marinated olives on an antipasta and then,...
  25. Well, my "adipose tissue" seems to be working for me right now. but J is a foot taller, so he is cold. Science is interesting, isn't it. lol.
