  1. LOL I submitted a comment saying that when I read it earlier. Don't want someone to think they can buy that kind. That author has been off on a few things lately.
  2. I totally plan on working in my jammies with unbrushed teeth and hair, LOL
  3. I have heard her book is good, but I haven't read it. Another good one that came out recently and many people on here have been recommending is Gluten Freedom by Dr. Alessio Fasano. If you do go on a gluten-free diet, I highly highly recommend the Americas Test Kitchen gluten-free cookbook. It is amazing and explains things very well.
  4. Since the original question was thoroughly answered, and no one is being mean, etc. I don't see it to be an actionable issue. Users can also use the quote function to reply clearly to things on previous pages if they desire. Now I really want pineapple. Can't handle the acidity very well, though. I also have a history of cutting myself badly when...
  5. Oh god you people make me want cheesy food now! LOL! Addy, I, too, love bargain shopping. When it comes to non-necessities and clothes, I basically refuse to pay full price. I have been in the interview process for a job where I train at the office for 2 months then work from home taking calls for a major company. I checked my application status online...
  6. Welcome, Valerie! It sounds like you may have a Celiac diagnosis coming your way. Before your endoscopy, go ahead and ask your doctor how many biopsies he/she will be taking of the small intestine. The more the better- the University of Chicago Celiac Disease Center recommends 6. ( Open Original Shared Link and Open Original Shared Link for your...
  7. I am really surprised no one has mentioned this, but especially if you are not having your typical onset of symptoms, it is possible you just caught some kind of bug and it has nothing to do with gluten or what you ate. Of course, it could be another intolerance or just something in the salsa disagreeing with your tummy, if you want to look into that more...
  8. I am sure the employee could have meant it that way, Steph. But as someone with a lot of "hidden" diseases I cannot tell you how old that gets.
  9. There are things you can buy that plug into an outlet that make an ultrasonic sound that mice and rodents can't stand. We used to have a big problem with field mice coming in the garage, and since I put those in, I haven't seen one or their droppings. Some also work for bugs, too. In my childhood home we had every kind of pest problem and they would keep...
  10. Well, there are two things here. Prunes are well known to help you out to go poop since they contain soluble and insoluble fiber. They also naturally contain sorbitol which some people may not be able to handle. So, if you ate some and aren't used to it, and didn't need the help, they can cause irregularities. (By the way, prunes are dried plums, so if...
  11. Yesterday I made a peach cobbler with all the fresh peaches I have available right now. It turned out absolutely wonderful. I used this KAF recipe: http://www.kingarthurflour.com/recipes/new-recipe-06/10/2013-gluten-free-peach-cobbler-made-with-baking-mix-recipe which is nearly identifal to the peach cobbler recipe I used to use pre- gluten-free days....
  12. Genius!!!!!!
  13. The brand at Kroger was Russo's gluten-free pizza. Here is their product page: Open Original Shared Link So So So Sooo good! Lots of fat, but hey, its pizza and it tastes good. LOL
  14. Awesome I love the texture of it. It is in my regular recipe rotation.
  15. I agree with the pool or walking. My lupus manifests as arthritis and pool exercise is the best thing I can do, as long as the water isn't stark cold. I also walk.
  16. As we all have sadly seen, it is always good to check that it is a dedicated fryer first. You never know when Joe Schmoe Manager is being uncaring in the kitchen and doesn't give a hoot about corporate policy.
  17. Thank you so much for posting this. Wonderful encouragement for the newly diagnosed people, I will definitely direct them here if they start questioning whether or not a gluten-free diet is worth it.
  18. You can use any gluten-free flour blend and make your own noodles. Lasagna noodles you don't even need a pasta roller for, you can just use a rolling pin and roll them really thin, and cut with a knife. This recipe doesn't use rice and is from a blog whose recipes I have found to be good in the past: Open Original Shared Link Zuchinni slices make tasty...
  19. What a giant A-hole that lady was. Definitely go up the corporate ladder with your complaint. Ask them to do training on not giving medical advice and sensitivity towards people with disabilities and food allergies. However, when you have a low wage employee who is treated like crud by their corporate employer, you are going to get people who act like...
  20. I understand the not letting it go to waste thing, I am the same way. I recently had to throw away some Udi's chocolate chia muffins because they were horrible, even my husband wouldn't eat them and he will eat things like that usually. Against the grain is grain free and does have kind of an earthy taste to it. I like it, but I can see how a kid would...
  21. This is a great example of how to overcome those sticky situations. Thanks for sharing it! Karen's ideas about the sealed snacks are a good idea, too. Of course, if it is something good like chips, it might get eaten before you get to it! LOL... I always keep a Van's granola bar in my purse for when I am stuck and hungry. They are pretty smash resistant...
  22. That is awesome, thanks for sharing. I wish I lived close!!!!
  23. Hi Kaayrah. One thing to point out is that not everything is caused by the consumption of gluten. Just the stress of having a diagnosis of an odd disease that others don't understand and affects every facet of your life can trigger depressed symptoms and such. I highly recommend going to talk to someone like a therapist. Even if it is for a short period...
  24. Those look really good. I was a huge fan of the Chilis black bean burger in my pre-Celiac days. If I see some I will definitely pick them up.
