  1. Icelandgirl, Everybody has offered you good advice. Niacin not niacinamide can help cholesterol levels. Don't let them put you on statin's. they have horrible side effects. here is dr. mercola article about one of their many horrible side effects. http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2015/06/03/statins-inhibit-vitamin...
  2. Amyhauchtest, Have you thought about/researched whether you might have low stomach acid. Iron is known to be a tough nutrient to absorb. here is a link about how low levels of gastric stomach acid can lead to low iron levels. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/7286584/ they note quoting " . . . . (iron) absorption falls only...
  3. BarryC, And as Victoria1234 said posting for new people who might read this thread. ( I did not realize the OP asked this several years ago now until I saw Victoria1234 recent activity) The role Magnesium plays in healthy sleepy patterns have been overlooked my many modern clinicians today. George eby is the person I have seen who has...
  4. Amyhauchtest, This thread might be of help to you. It is about someone who is trying to conceive like yourself. https://www.celiac.com/forums/topic/111443-success-stories-needed-desperately/ good luck! posterboy by the grace of God,
  5. sddave, jmg has given you good advice. B-vitamins can help with any stress you have been under. also have thought about taking some BetaineHCL. When our stomach acid is low it is not uncommon to have GI problems. doctor's forget timeline. If you have GI problems (heartburn etc.) when eating food then you stomach acid is already too...
  6. molly1989, While stress is common before a celiac disease I would suspect (without other triggers) that these symptom's came on a little quick for my liking. What you are describing sounds very much like you picked up a mosquito born virus. Chikungunya or Chik-V as it is often shortened too has very intense arthritis described as one of it...
  7. ssb85 desperately needed success stories, (don't we all) I realize the OP may not be following this thread now but in the hope it might help others that read this thread that ssb5 or other pregnant ladies or those looking to get pregnant might want to have their thyroids checked. a poor performing thyroid can lead to a miscarriage. I had a friend...
  8. Victoria1234, I had the same questions when I started eating gluten free myself. I was terrified of "Modified Food Starch" for the longest time. Until I started digging into the FDA "food code". there is such a thing. At least in the US Modified Starch is Corn based unless it has a adjective modifying it like "tapioca starch" etc. This...
  9. Whitepaw, I would just add a couple threads to this conversation. This thread talks about some of the issues people have had on this board with stomach acid and what they found that helped them. And it is a fairly current (this month) thread that might benefit you to read it. And this older article first reported on celiac.com over three...
  10. victoria1234, I think you said in a previous post you were only taking it (Magnesium) at a 100mg. This is not enough to help with the big C. Around 300mg Magnesium Citrate begins to flush people. When I used the Natural Calm powder form I found I often exceeded this amount when my teaspoon was rounded up. Or if I took 2 - 200mg tablets...
  11. LilyR, Gemini has given you good links. I also recommend chris kresser's articles on the topic that are very similar. you want to learn more about my story with low stomach acid (misdiagnosed) see my celiac.com posterboy blog post on this topic. chris kresser's article about this topic is linked inside my post about this topic. research...
  12. Oneloved, I like Knitty Kitty study a lot about nutrition and find there is often a "vitamin/mineral" for that??? Sometimes not right, but often there is and the doctor's don't study nutrition enough to know the difference. But many times there are and we just don't know which one(s) to take. Believe me I know because I have tried most (at...
  13. Pegleg84, Here is a good thread about the benefits of Magnesium and some issues people have with taking it. Notice with smaller doses at little as 100mg or 150mg (the size of nature mades Citrate Ligquidgels) Victoria1234 felt better even taken small doses of it. The RDA is 400 mg best taken in divided doses (with each meal). Though as Ennix...
  14. MayonnaisePlease, Ennis_Tx has given you good advice. (This is about your unusually smelly breath) aka "Dragon Breath". I know I used to have it. I would only add this article from the livestrong website about how a B-complex might help bad breath. http://www.livestrong.com/article/545758-does-vitamin-b-complex-cause-bad-breath/ And...
  15. Why yes it is! jmg and myself are NCIS, I mean NCGS specialist/experts or is it NCGI people ourselves. posterboy,
  16. LilyR, jmg has given you good resources/links. I used to have constant issues with ear infections that went away when I went gluten free. And recurrent bronchitis they I never have now. NCGS can cause low grade inflammation that you don't realize at the time . .. till you stop eating gluten. That said have you been checked for a UTI...
  17. Victoria1234, Dreaming is a sign the Magnesium is working. I went probably 10 years without remembering a dream and within the first week of taking Magnesium. I now dream regularly. posterboy,
  18. Darla1508, Have you tried a B-Complex. Like say a B-50 or B-100. Try taking it with each meal for two or three months to see if this helps. B-Vitamins are known to help Celiac's. https://www.celiac.com/articles/21783/1/B-Vitamins-Beneficial-for-Celiacs-on-Gluten-Free-Diet/Page1.html Or had your Iron levels checked? See this...
  19. EmilyLMT, I do a lot of nutrition research and the key is finding something that works for someone else . . then it usually works for others too! I had a friend who used to have the same problems you mentioned. Antibiotics typically is the knee jerk response. But look up D-Mannose. It is a simple sugar. It is the active ingredient...
  20. Whos Afraid of a B Vitamin You needn’t Bee? An FAQs on Niacin(amide) and how to take Niacinamide and why you would want too in the first place. The very definition of a Vitamin is a Vital (life giving) nutrient needed in a minimum amount without which we become sick. This is especially so for B Vitamins since the body does not have g...
  21. Is it NCGS or Low stomach acid misdiagnosed Low Stomach Acid and Celiac Disease Dear Gluten Intolerant please consider Low Stomach Acid as a possible Differential Diagnosis as a possible way to achieve remission of your GI symptom's. “Consider what I say; and the Lord give thee understanding in all things” 2 Timothy 2: 7 Low stomach aci...
  22. glutenfreegirlfriend, I hope you are still following this thread. The vomiting bile and unintended weight loss can be a sign of bile reflux. Here is a NYtimes article on it. http://www.nytimes.com/2009/06/30/health/30brod.html here is thread about it. Getting completely over bile reflux can be difficult. I hope he finds something...
  23. spirit_walk, I am sorry but I have not been able to read the whole thread. but I experienced your "popping" that you describe in the bones. Taking Magnesium Citrate helped mine. Here is a thread talks about all the benefits of Magnesium. Ennis_Tx and myself are the Magnesium Warriors on this board. Magnesium is really wonderful...
  24. Washingtonmama, I agree with gluten-free-Cheetah Cub if you talk to the manager they don't mind you bringing things in for yourself (usually) since you paid for the buffet already. But I find I gravitate to things I know I can eat safely and eat to my heart content. It might be crabmeat and cheese or mushrooms and cheese or baked fish or ham or...
  25. Blessedmewith4, I vote for the shellfish allergy. I have had friends who had similar shellfish allergy issues and it sounds just like the episode you describe especially the tingling lips. They don't know what triggers it often. They may been able to eat shellfish before with no reaction but after the reaction they can't eat shellfish again...
