  1. You could stick with the gluten free diet and have some of the blood tests redone in 6 months. If the Deamidated gliadin peptide AB went down that would indicate that gluten was an issue for you.
  2. A doctor saying “You probably don’t have that”. My response: The biopsy I had last week said that I do.
  3. Sucrose is just sugar, the type you might put into your coffee or tea. Is this a typo and there is another ingredient you’re worried about?
  4. I give them away, although that’s pretty easy since my husband eats gluten! When I was working, anything he didn’t want I took to work to give away. Someone gave my dog a very large biscuit for Christmas that not only had wheat flour but “vital wheat gluten.” My dog isn’t gluten free but I still didn’t want crumbs from that around so I gave it to ...
  5. I had a dream last night where I ate a regular (gluten-containing) cookie, something I would never do in real life. I was so upset, especially because I realized in my dream that I wasn’t at home and thus didn’t have any GliadinX available!
  6. To the FDA, the terms “gluten-free” or “no gluten” on a label are equivalent so the products are supposed to have less than 20ppm gluten. See “inside the regulation”
  7. Item 3: The FDA is used to reviewing new technology, it is part of their job. It is not at all uncommon to see new side effects (such as allergic reactions) once a drug is out of clinical trials and in a larger, less defined population. The NIAID is not going to more or less redo Pfizer’s trials. They’re going to look at a few hun...
  8. I’m sorry you feel so awful now, physically and mentally. But I see a lot of good things in your post. Your doctors caught the celiac so quickly! Sometimes people take years to get a diagnosis. You were diagnosed when young - you haven’t had uncontrolled celiac for decades like some. A lot of your symptoms could be from being malnourished, which you are...
  9. Posterboy, The only thing I can find is from another vaccine that Janssen makes that uses the same Ad26 adenovirus “platform” and that has been authorized by European authorities. Here are the excipients in that Ebola vaccine. It is very likely but not certain that the same ingredients would be in their COVID vaccine. They look very similar to the exc...
  10. I’m saying that companies don’t always make the full listing of ingredients public until they have to. They have to once authorized/approved. I couldn’t find anything about Janssen ingredients.
  11. The Oxford vaccine does not contain PEG. See item 6 in the linked page. It does contain polysorbate, which can cause allergic reactions in some people. Oxford Astrazeneca vaccine information The best place to get vaccine ingredients is in the official information given out after they are authorized or approved - this is from the UK. I would...
  12. 1. The Pfizer and Moderna vaccines (which are authorized for emergency use, not approved) both have PEG attached to one of the lipids in the lipid nanoparticle. The PEG isn’t a carrier, the lipid nanoparticle, with PEG attached to one lipid is the carrier. 2. Janssen is part of Johnson and Johnson. It is a different technology. It uses an adenovirus t...
  13. The question the FDA asked the advisory committees for Pfizer and Moderna was not: Is the vaccine 100% safe in all circumstances. The question was: Do the benefits outweigh the risks. They authorized the vaccines because they felt the benefit DOES outweigh the risks. It is not at all uncommon for additional side effects to be seen after a drug is commercially...
  14. I agree that polyethylene glycol MIGHT be the cause of the anaphylactic reactions - more research needed to confirm. That does not mean that it is the molecule that is in antifreeze. Usually when people say that the vaccine contains antifreeze they’re trying to scare people into thinking it contains the toxic molecule, ethylene glycol, used in car r...
  15. Your doctor isn’t terrible, he/she is just following established guidelines recommended for the official diagnosis of celiac disease. Unfortunately those guidelines are absolutely terrible for some patients.
  16. The Oxford and Janssen vaccines also use adenovirus vectors. Adenoviruses have been studied as vectors for years. There is one approved vaccine for tuberculosis using such a vector. The adenovirus vector only increases the chance of HIV in a particular subset of patients who already have been exposed to HIV (seropositive). Please watch out for making...
  17. THERE IS NO ANTIFREEZE IN THE PFIZER AND MODERNA COVID VACCINES! Yes I am yelling. I’ve had to correct this misinformation too many times today. The vaccines contain polyethylene glycol. It is used in the over the counter laxative Miralax, as well as other drugs. Antifreeze contains ethylene glycol. It is toxic. Polyethylene glycol and e...
  18. Posterboy, Here is a better link. It is a short article. I tried downloading the pdf but it wasn’t any longer. Open Original Shared Link
  19. I’d be glad to add some information, with references. Item 1: mRNA vaccines have not been authorized by FDA before, but have been developed and studied for other coronaviruses, such as MERS. They were never approved because the need for a MERS vaccine went away. That is why development was able to proceed so quickly for COVID-19. https://www.nature.c...
  20. Hi PurpleMorphSuit, How are you doing? I hope you’re remaining nausea free? It is such an obnoxious symptom!
  21. So glad you’ve made the connection! It also might be some reaction to your toothpaste? I hope you remain nausea free!
  22. Sometimes life does not allow one to avoid all dietary risks of damaging the gut without assistance. When visiting my 96 year old father (prior to COVID) I stayed in his apartment and had to eat in the dining hall at his facility. I ordered items marked gluten free from their menu but I didn’t trust them. So I also took GliadinX. I am a scientist, I...
  23. Very reasonable, at least for the Pfizer and Moderna products. Scientists think the antigen causing problems may be the PEG attached to the lipids used to make the nanoparticles, but that is a hypothesis - there is no data yet. Hopefully some of the other vaccines that are based on different technology will be useful for those with allergies.
  24. Yes, they will take serum from people who have been vaccinated and see if it will neutralize the virus in the lab. BioNTech (Pfizer) said they’d have results in two weeks.
  25. It looks like the D614G mutation described in this quote is NOT the only mutation currently being seen in the UK. The UK variant being discussed this week is called VUI 202012/01 and contains the D614G mutation and others.
