  1. Will do! Thanks to all for sharing your experiences and for your support.
  2. Thyroid tests normal. It appears to be a mechanical problem (compression of nerve), possibly in my back. Next step is MRI. I'm just thankful that it is merely tingling and not pain!
  3. Thank you for the reply and the links. I was tested for nutritional deficiencies when I was originally diagnosed with celiac and was fine (high B12 and folate). My doctor is testing my thyroid, I see her Monday for the results. Tingling in the right foot started while doing physical therapy exercises for tingling in the left thigh, so it may be that the...
  4. I have celiac and am on a gluten free diet, although my DGP level is still slightly elevated. I am having troubles with peripheral neuropathy (tingling) in my feet. Certain positions make it worse, as if a nerve is being pinched. I have a question for those who have had peripheral neuropathy that is related to gluten. Do position and/or activities matter...
  5. To answer about dairy: Celiac disease can damage the part of the villi in the intestine that make lactase, an enzyme that breaks down the lactose in dairy products. When lactose isn't broken down it can cause digestive disturbances. You can try eliminating it to see if you feel better. Eliminating it will not affect future celiac testing.
  6. That is surprising. Did you get a number for the EMA result? If a number, it would look like 1:160 or 1:5. Knowing that would let us know how positive the EMA result was.
  7. Having supportive family makes celiac much easier - so you caring so much is wonderful!
  8. From a chemistry point of view, it is very unlikely that gluten would be in actual steam. It could be in small droplets such as oil splatters. Also, it is not a problem to touch something containing gluten - just wash your hands afterwards.

    ARCHIVED Paris!

In case someone searches out this topic later, here is a link with a list of 100% gluten free places in Paris. Open Original Shared Link
  10. I haven't tried it, but wanted to say that I really like your writing! It is not on their list of gluten free items - popcorns are at the end, under snacks. Is it labelled gluten free? Open Original Shared Link
  11. It would be a good idea to get a printed copy of your test results so you can see the numbers and see whch tests were actually run.
  12. I used to get stomach pain when I wore pants with an elastic waist.
  13. My long hair gets in my mouth frequently so I use gluten free hair products.
  14. You might consider getting the blood tests (soon). If you've only been gluten free for a month, with a few mistakes, it is unlikely that high levels would have normalized. However, you and your doctor would have to realize that although a positive test would support celiac, a negative test would not rule it out since you are gluten free.
  15. I've used various pre-mixed flours. I add xanthan gum if it is not already in the flour.
  16. I'm glad the new little stones came through without major pain, and glad you caught them for analysis!
  17. I just use my regular brownie recipe from a Hershey's cookbook but substitute gluten free flour.
  18. In some states you can order the tests yourself at www.mymedlab.com, but I don't remember if they have the full panel.

    ARCHIVED weight gain

Has he had an endoscopy that show whether or not his intestines have healed? Has he had recent blood tests that show whether his antibody levels are back to normal? Why is he eating less and less? There are plenty of foods one can eat while avoiding gluten and peanuts.
  20. I have no advice but wanted to add my hugs. I had a ureter spasm once which I assume is similar to the pain of kidney stones, and it was awful. I hope you don't have to go through that again.
  21. I used to work with these calculations but it has been a few years! They are technically correct about the 1 in 4 IF (a big if) you are testing one hundred people in the general population, i.e., people that are NOT going to the doctor because of symptoms but are just chosen randomly off the street. The 1 in 4 is the positive predictive value and depends...
  22. A 16 hour fast will not affect antibody levels, but I hope you were tested before you went gluten free three weeks ago?
  23. Zolmitriptan has a number of generic versions. Whether or not it is gluten free may depend on the manufacturer.
  24. You can and should keep eating your cookies and other gluten filled foods until all testing is complete. Otherwise you might get a false negative.
  25. Welcome! I'm so glad you found the answer to your migraines.
