Would you scope again?
Ennis-TX replied to CeliacMommaX2's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
If you concerned about healing a scope would show if she is still taking damage or healing, along with give any ideas of other complications. Would I scope again, yeah, after a recent 3 month bout of returned symptoms and 2 glutenings I am curious of my set backs and if anything else is happening in my system. -
Might start a new thread, explain your diet, in addition to the milk duds. DH if very trick, I myself do not have it, but I have seen many talk about it over the years. A few common things are that DH suffers are much more sensitive to gluten, IE if something test below 20ppm (the limit of testing accurately) it can be gluten free but might have traces enough...

Normally they want you on Jello and bone broth to clean you out, no solids in there. But both contain animal products. You can make vegan jello out of Agar Agar, and you can make a hearty vegetable broth by boiling veggies then straining out the chunks. Avoid stuff like tomatoes or anything that could give it a strong color. Fruit juice are normally alright...

Commercial Dishwashers in Restaurants
Ennis-TX replied to Ennis-TX's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
I pulled out the metal mesh strainer and power washed it and hit it it with a blow torch (I think it was 500F destroys gluten?). I am running a bunch of cycles....I am about ready to just use sodium hydroxide (we just call it caustic in the shop) in it. I know it can destroy blood and break down proteins, we have a bunch of it at the family machine shop... -
Yeah, many places are like this. The gluten free menu at most places is for fad dieters not medical diets. Do research on places that have better practices, a few chains have practices in place to keep gluten off the grills and keep gluten free alternatives in prepackaged bags they bring for you to open. I found out that a few simple dishes can be done...

Chewing gum
Ennis-TX replied to KimAnnP's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Yes Xylitol is lethal to dogs....safe for humans, I use it often, large doses can act as a laxative. But consider you can also kill a dog with chocolate, avocados, grape seeds, etc.... many things that humans eat are poisonous to other animals and vise versa. -
Shared desks and croissants
Ennis-TX replied to healthysquirrel's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Your welcome, btw I was at the dentist today and I saw something, they use disposable covers over the keyboards in the rooms. Unsure how it effects vigorous typing but something to look into. Yeah I can not digest animal fats well or tough meats, so I eat mostly vegan aside from eggs, crab, fish, and I do take some bone broth powders. But I can not eat... -

Iron is best absorbed when taken with vitamin C so you can boost your absorption that way. Red meats are great source of iron, IE Beef. I do not digest meats myself and use Pea Protein for my iron (Look up Growing Naturals Pea Protein, and check the iron content) Pumpkin Seed protein is good too, and eat tones of cocoa, nuts, seeds, and other high iron plant... -
I was dia. with celiac years ago then almost 2 years ago with the return of pain, and bloody stool I got a colonscopy and found out I had developed Ulcerative Colitis. Different people have different triggers, spicy food is a trigger for me, but mine also flares with gluten, and sugars/carbs like glucose and fructose. I had to go keto to manage it, amusingly...

Shared desks and croissants

Can't really clean them off well, my suggestion is get food service vinyl gloves that fit tight. I get 10x boxes of 100 gloves for $26 and use them when handling stuff I might be allergic to (corn) outside of my house. I got them for chef work and catering but have found them to be a life saver elsewhere and cleaning up stuff that could trigger a reaction... -
Commercial Dishwashers in Restaurants
Ennis-TX replied to Ennis-TX's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
Test was taken from end of rinse with the detergent and bleach pumps turned off (auto puts them in with pumps from 5 gallon containers, and I turned them off to rinse the unit out). Fact is the sensor did not misread it, and I manually double checked the test strip. IE if there are 3 stripes then you have gluten, the bottom stripe on the strip was red so... -
Commercial Dishwashers, I got one used on sale for $20 and fixed it up for my own business, and saved over $3k vs a new one. I cleaned it up and ran 20-30 cycles, these things run quick cycles. I got a low temp sanitize version that uses chemical sanitation (bleach solution) vs the high temp ones. Anyway, after cleaning it out and cycling it many times I...

https://www.republicoftea.com/ I use their green teas daily, the senoma teas are great I make by the pitcher as they are a bit like a wine, come winter I get their mulled zin tea and do huge pots of it. I developed a issues with really bad indigestion, headaches, and vomiting with black teas few years ago. Some people just good food sensitivities...

Turkey - Always Gluten Free?
Ennis-TX replied to Ali1987's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I have never had issues with butter ball or riverside brands and do thanksgiving dinners for family and friends with them. Things to consider, was the turkey stuffed? What about the stuffing, what about the herbs, did the coat it in butter that might have been CCed? Was there a glaze packet used with it? Was there a gravy packet with it? Any seasonings? How... -
Figured I would give the conclusion to this post, for the past year or so it was responding to sovereign silver 3 times a day. It stopped and got much worse, then a chunk of the tooth next to broke off and I needed an emergency dentist visit. He looked at the infection and the now 3 affected teeth, I got a double root canal and he did a filling on the ...

Sweet potatoes OK?
Ennis-TX replied to Alex the rash's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Should be fine, I think I know the concerns. Rice is sometimes processed with other gluten containing grains. In the US this has been a issues with several companies that do more then JUST rice, and make several products with wheat, barley, etc. But where you are you more likely to get farm to market rice grown, harvested, and processed by equipment and facilities... -
Spices (McCormicks)
Ennis-TX replied to RoseMG's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I use Spicely Organics and The Spice house for singles and some blends as a chef. I also use Big Axe Spices for some blends and when selling foods at markets and planned for my food truck. -
The old golden standard is a Endoscope with biopsy. I might suggest going to a GI and getting a double scope from both ends and 6 or so biopsies of the small intestine to check for celiac or damage. Checking with both scopes could rule out issues in the large intestines that could also present like a form of colitis. The pins and needles could be either...

Some companies that do a roasted barely alternative on same lines or plant would be of concern, as well as companies that use some natural flavors, or additives to their flavor blends. If they do them on one line then there is a good chance of slight CC via grinders, packing machines etc. Flavored, only one company I use after doing a TON of research...

In some Apple Cider Vinegar can slow the gastric emptying process and cause a form of gastroparesis.

Gluten and anxiety
Ennis-TX replied to alioubba's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
My anxiety used to be super bad, celiacs tend to have combo issues with it. One part from malabsorption of B-vitamins, vitamin D, and other components for serotonin, melotonin, fats, etc. The other can stem from either a actual immune system attacking the nervous system like gluten ataxia, or from a flight or fight response generated from the stress the body... -
My protein bites snack
Ennis-TX replied to DoogiePCT's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Based on the following I would drop them, BTW some celiacs react to oats no matter what. It also contains whey and milk powder which can cause gas and bloat. The yo-yo style labeling of gluten free, no wheat statement then the following statements makes me not trust the company in general as having any ideas about CC issues. Want a good cookie that is gluten... -
Issues with my digestion contenue, I had to put off my doctors appointment til sometimes in October as that is when my check comes. In the mean time further evaluations by self. 1. Removing Emulsifiers IE Konjac, Guar Gum, Psyllum Husk, or any kind of binding agent for dinner. This conclusion was reached by the floating fats in vomit were bound to protein...

To posterboy: is the niacin challenge safe?
Ennis-TX replied to Kylebailey1994's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Hoping that is a typo. "509mg" or do you mean 509% DV (Daily Value) 20mg is the DV for Niacin. Do note DV is the minimum you should be having each day but still. Most energy drinks are like 40-120mg so 200-600% the DV a serving. I myself take a mild blend with 40mg a dose 3 times a day and I take 1-2tbsp of nutritional yeast that has some, then the daily... -
Well I have someone here locally who does moonshine gluten free using oak chips, sugar, and yeast. Ciders are getting really popular, brewing a hard apple, or pear cider, mixing in other fruits, perhaps mulling it wonderful this holiday season.
