ARCHIVED Label on magnesium product
Ennis-TX replied to Genaveve's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
unsure I just use Natural Vitality Calm...thing about magnesium and celiacs is you often have to find your dose. We do not absorb it as well as normal people with our damaged guts and have to find our dosing by dosing to tolerance. A scale is suggested as a tsp can vary as much as 8g (2x the dose) I have found depending on how it is scooped. Start with 1... -
ARCHIVED Deep fryer cleaning
Ennis-TX replied to MomWithDoubleTroubles's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Unsure, does it go above 500F? Need 500F to destroy the gluten protein, like in a oven self clean cycle...my concern would be all the tiny hatches etc on the baskets, the covers etc.....honestly I would get a new one. In the mean time Ore Ida makes gluten free fries, hashbrowns, hashbrown patties etc. I serve them to guest and when I need a side of fries... -

Ennis-TX replied to Samuel's mom's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Ditto to cylcing ladies post, but I might add a Food diary to keep track of what he is eating and his pains. Record everything he eats, how it is fixed, seasoned etc. and his symptoms. Rotate his foods removing keratin ones or suspects to issues for 5-7 days then adding them back in for 1 day. This way you can see if he has a intolerance to something. The... -

Ennis-TX replied to DeviD's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Um depends, they had a few issues with them over the years. I think it might be safe now but at one point they had malt from barley in some of their products and a few issues with contamination. I have not heard of anything this year though. -

Ennis-TX replied to DFowers's topic in Traveling with Celiac Disease
This is really great story with the nima tester helping out, It has indeed saved me with several items, and giving me the blessing of trying a ton of foods I would have normally avoided out of fear. I think I will share this story of how it helped out as a example. -
Could be, try a gluten-free certified meat product like SmithyField bacon, Or Jenno O Meats, etc. Prepackaged from a dedicated facility is always a safer bet, most shops vary from store to store...some swear whole foods fresh meats are fine....I know for a fact the main one I go to...they seasoned and breaded fresh cuts on the same butcher area with the same...

While more fat in the diet is important for weight gain you also need the building blocks for your body that are in protein, the vitamins and minerals to utilize them found in leafy greens, nuts, seeds, supplements, and the enzymes to break them down. Celiac hampers the ability to break down and absorb nutrients so it can be a struggle finding the right balances...

Umm I get this with my ulcerative colitis flares and mine also normally has blood in it. But mucus is sort of your body making it to coat and protect itself from irritants...so I would assume it would be normal with the celiac reaction too...but my cealic flares will later trigger a UC flare so I can not comment if it would be with plain celiac flares. ...

This is your choice, though you do not need to eat much just a half slice of bread, a few crackers, or a tsp of wheat germ a day, eating at night before bed let some people sleep it off for the worst of it. If you decided to go gluten free chocking it up to celiac or non celiac gluten sensitivity that is your choice, we have a few member who have had...

You should keep eating gluten for now....you have to for the test. They do a blood test that requires you to be eating gluten daily for 12 weeks then a endoscope with biopsies to check for intestinal damage. Doing this now instead of later is best....after going gluten free the "Gluten Challenge" of eating it daily for 12 weeks is MUCH worse, as most have...
