  1. Scott, I'm taking Lipothiamine from Cardiovascular Research and have tried Allithiamine from Ecological Formulas. These are fat soluble versions of thiamine that cross the blood/brain barrier more easily. "Benfotiamine, a synthetic S-acyl thiamine derivative, has different mechanisms of action and a different pharmacological profile than lipid...
  2. I take Cardiovascular Research, or Ecological Formulas brands of Lipothiamine or Allithiamine. I take thiamine with every meal. The erythrocyte transketolase blood test can tell if you're thiamine deficient. Most blood tests don't accurately reflect vitamin status because vitamins are used inside tissues, and vitamins are kept at a specific level in...
  3. Sleep apnea is a symptom of thiamine deficiency! "Sleep Requires Energy" https://www.hormonesmatter.com/sleep-requires-energy/ And science-y study.... "Sleep-disordered breathing: effects on brain structure and function" https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3778068/ Hope this helps!
  4. Celiomniac, Welcome to the forum! As a newly diagnosed Celiac, you may be deficient or low in some vitamins and minerals. Checking for deficiencies is part of proper follow up care for Celiacs. Vitamin Deficiency symptoms are often overlooked by doctors. I experienced severe vitamin and mineral deficiencies before being diagnosed with Celiac...
  5. Sorry about that typo. Niacin is Vitamin B 3. Thiamine is Vitamin B1. The B vitamins all work together, so a B Complex supplement will cover all of them. There are lots of studies done that find taking higher doses of thiamine and niacin have additional health benefits. The B vitamins are water soluble, so any the body doesn't absorb is...
  6. This article studied the effects of thiamine (Vitamin B1) on Candida ...... "Thiamine antivitamins – an opportunity of therapy of fungal infections caused by Malassezia pachydermatis and Candida albicans" https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/abs/10.1111/myc.12441 Thiamine deficiency is common in Candida overgrowth. Have you been c...
  7. Welcome to the forum, Walter! Excessive saliva production is an early symptom of Niacin (Vitamin B3) deficiency. I know because I had this, too. H. Pylori and Celiac Disease can mess with the proper absorption of vitamins and minerals. The group of eight B vitamins are affected because they are water soluble and can be used up or lost...
  8. Misslee, Celiac Disease is genetic. You have to have the genes for it to get it. Thiamine deficiency can cause that thiamine transporter gene (read about it below) to turn off which triggers the Celiac Disease gene to turn on. Eczema is definitely a manifestation of Celiac Disease. And now.... I'm reposting what I wrote...
  9. RMJ, Is there aluminum hydroxide in the Covid vaccines? Misslee, Dr. Berg didn't research deep enough. The adjuvant to which Dr. Berg refers is aluminum hydroxide. Here's an article on aluminum hydroxide.... https://www.hormonesmatter.com/injecting-aluminum-new-documentary-questioning-vaccine-safety/ Aluminum hydroxide...
  10. Bob, I believe you are not cheating. "Maize Prolamins Could Induce a Gluten-Like Cellular Immune Response in Some Celiac Disease Patients" https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3820067/ "Maize is one of the most commonly consumed grains in the gluten-free diet. Despite the low content of zeins in maize-containing foods compared...
  11. EF_ATL, I get DH and mine isn't always massively itchy. DH is usually diagnosed by taking a biopsy next to a blister and doing an immunofluorescent stain to detect antibodies. There are other not so itchy skin manifestations of Celiac Disease. One is keratosis pilaris "Gluten And Chicken Skin (Keratosis Pilaris )" https://theceliacmd...
  12. I found some interesting articles about canker sores and vitamin deficiencies. "Recurrent aphthous stomatitis and thiamine deficiency" https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S1079210496804379 "Case Report: Recurrent aphthous stomatitis responds to vitamin B12 treatment" https://europepmc.org/article/med/1598694...
  13. https://www.healthline.com/health/fructose-malabsorption#causes This article is describing two conditions. Hereditary fructose intolerance is "most often detected when a baby starts consuming baby food or formula." Hereditary fructose intolerance: "A more serious issue and completely unrelated condition is hereditary fructose intolerance...
  14. selectivefocus, There is iodine in "just milk". This could be causing your daughter's DH to flair. I'd suggest no dairy at all. Greens are a better source of calcium. Check your salt, too. Pink Himalayan salt has less iodine than sea salt. DH is pressure sensitive. DH will occur anywhere there is pressure. We rest on our elbows, clothes...
  15. jaebowie, It can be a sign of Celiac or something else. We don't know all the details about you. You would do well to have a complete panel blood test for Celiac Disease. Celiac Disease is an autoimmune disease. Your body recognizes gluten as a harmful invader and launches an attack against it the same as if you had an invading bacteria. Unfortunately...
  16. Ask your doctor about fructose intolerance. Here's an article that explains it..... https://www.healthline.com/health/fructose-malabsorption Fructose intolerance can occur with Celiac. Ask your doctor to check for vitamin and mineral deficiencies. Taking a B-Complex vitamin supplement can be helpful, too. Hope this helps!
  17. sc'Que?, You're very welcome. I'm glad to share this knowledge so we all can live our best lives despite Celiac Disease. Knitty Kitty
  18. sc'Que?, No, the body doesn't flood with tryptophan in response to histamine. Histamine is cleared from the body with B12, vitamin C, vitamin B6, tryptophan, magnesium, and Thiamine. Thiamine is essential in making energy for the body out of carbohydrates (and proteins and fats). Thiamine is essential for brain function, especially lower...
  19. Hair loss is a symptom of Thiamine (Vitamin B1) deficiency.
  20. Histamine release is part of the immune response when exposed to gluten. High histamine levels are associated with "brain fog" and various degrees and kinds of mental illness. High histamine levels are found in schizophrenics, bipolar, ADHD, and Parkinson's disease. High histamine levels disrupt the normal flow of neurotransmitters in the brain. Vitamin...
  21. Luna, Have you had a DNA test to see if you have any of the genes for Celiac? If you've got Celiac genes, and you improve on a gluten free diet like RMJ said, plus have such high blood test results, you and your doctors may want to accept all that as a Celiac diagnosis. Damage to the small intestine is on a sliding scale. The longer you've been...
  22. Anonyous Cda, If you want to increase energy for your mind, try Lipothiamine. It's a form of thiamine that will cross the blood brain barrier. It's available on Amazon.com.
  23. Anonyous Cda, Niacin can cause flushing. It's a common reaction when people start taking niacin. Niacin flush is harmless, it's acting as a vasodilator, opening up all those little capillaries in the skin. The flushing usually lessens within an hour. Flushing frequently occurs worse in people who are low in niacin. As your body starts replenishing...
  24. KatieM, Your asthma, the pins and needles feeling, fatigue and stomach issues can all be indicative of Type Two Diabetes and Thiamine (Vitamin B1) deficiency and Celiac Disease. Low Thiamine symptoms include "sailor's asthma," fatigue, neuropathy (pins and needles), and gastrointestinal symptoms (gastrointestinal beriberi). You can have low...
