ARCHIVED Prayer Request
Cheri A replied to Fiddle-Faddle's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
I totally agree. I think that a hug, tears, and being sincere are the only thing that you can do for the family right now. Maybe later you could do something for Noah's school, the hospital, etc in memory of him. How is your son doing? Such a young, tender age to have to deal with death. I'm so sorry for Noah's family and his young friends. ... -
ARCHIVED Lunch Ideas For Picky Kid
Cheri A replied to mama2two's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
The Thermos is our friend here too. I also wanted to mention that you can also fill it with cold water first to make it cold inside too. I have sent smoothies, and even her "ice cream" in it. I have not seen the Enjoy Life trail mix. I'll have to look for that, it sounds like something my daughter would like too. -

I'm actually way less stressed than I usually am at this time of year. All of Christmas cards and presents have been shipped. We have even managed to have most of the kids presents wrapped under the tree. I will be baking tonight and on Friday. I work retail part-time, so I'll be there most of the weekend. We have had a great year, everyone is... -

ARCHIVED I Need A Rolled Sugar Cookie Recipe
Cheri A replied to Darn210's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I just finished making Patti's Sugar Cookie recipe and they came out great! Thanks Patti. The last few times I made sugar cookies, they spread. I guess I needed to use all shortening instead of half and half. The only modification I made was applesauce to replace the eggs. I also use a modified Carol Fenster flour blend with sorghum flour. I rolled... -

I'm also sorry to read of your dog's troubles. We used to have a Dalmatian who developed hip displaysia at a very young age. My DH read an article on how hunting dogs that had it seemed to respond to Ester-C vitamins. We started giving them to our dog, and he improved greatly. We gave them to him for years, and he lived to be 15 years old. Here's a... -

ARCHIVED I'm New Here, Just Saying Hi
Cheri A replied to jmomee99's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Welcome to the boards. My daughter's celiac testing was inconclusive, but she is allergic to wheat. We decided to go gluten-free anyway, because I didn't want to put her through the scope. For us, I fed her mostly meat, veggies, and fruit at the beginning. Others will have to help you with the store-bought brands, because the only things I really... -

Cheri A replied to jerseygrl's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Congratulations to you and your daughter! That's is wonderful! Sometimes I wish that my daughter's testing wasn't inconclusive so that we could kind of "check" on how she's doing. Oh well. -
ARCHIVED Gluten-free Without Official Diagnosis
Cheri A replied to mairin's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Follow your mommy instinct. My daughter has multiple food allergies (see siggy), including wheat. The celiac testing was inconclusive. Some of the indicators came back positive, some negative. Testing was done by the allergist, and I was offered the scope. We decided that the "official" diagnosis was not as important to us as how she felt. She was... -

ARCHIVED Tapioca Starch - Where To Buy
Cheri A replied to elsie's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
At my grocery store, Cub Foods, the tapioca starch is in little packages in the Asian food section for .69/bag. They have the exact same bags at my natural food co-op for $3 something! An Asian store recently opened, but I haven't been there. -
We just bought our dd her first webkinz last Thursday. She's been wanting one, so I asked her if she'd like to trade all of her Halloween candy for one too. She loves to shop, so we went and she picked an adorable little bunny. She named her "Candy". LOL! She's been happily playing with it on the computer too. I like that they can do some educational...
