I was thinking, by the time we can get ART done IF they happen to find lyme I don't even know if this thread would be around to report it. We'll see if we can swing in for that next fall so we've got to keep this thread going for at least another 1 1/2 years. :P

Well...I'm hoping we'll all be better by then. :P

Even if I was 100%....eating mickey mouse shape pancakes for breakfast and huge plates of spaghetti for dinner.....I'd still be there for you Andrea. :)

And...anyone else who is looking for some help.

I remember when we all started to realize more about MSG and there was so much info on everything it was in at the time I was trying to avoid so much I felt so overwhelmed with info I had to just step back becasue I felt like I was gonna go crazy!!

Yeah....MSG and corn <_< ...betweeen the two of those things....WOAH...total brain overload.

And then came Auxigro.

Scott did say he tested me in "reverse" (which just means that when he had a strong arm it was bad, but when he had a weak arm it was good)...not sure why, but he was using a technique that he learned when Amy was here.

I think with traditional muscle testing when the arm goes weak...its bad...and then a strong arm is good?? I dont know if Scott told me this or if I read it somewhere.

With ART its the opposite...strong arm is good. I thought thats how they always tested but maybe they can switch stuff around?? I dunno...but I did figure he would be better at it when he tested you...since he just spent about 4 days testing people with Amy...he's gonna learn more and more each time.

He's always learning....always absorbing stuff. I dont think he's the type to say he's learned it *all*...he will keep expanding his knowledge as long as he's doing this stuff.

HEY....too bad the *real* Dr.'s out there couldnt have that same frame of mind.... that same type of dedication....wilingness to help others...etc <_<

Yeah...maybe I'm still a little bitter.

This is random but did anyone see "Planet Earth" last night? There was this scene showing really fierce protective geese trying to scare away a fox. I was thinking those are the exact geese Rachelville needs

So I've been thinking more about the ART/BioSET Rachel/Donna testing, lol. It fascinates me, but I'm too foggy brained to really think too much about it. :P Anyway, I find it fascinating that Rachel was tested at BioSET and found right away to have lyme and in ART was not found right away to have Lyme. I was not found to have lyme with BioSET but was found right away to have it with ART.

Maybe its because of how Lyme can hide behind other things. It can hide within the mercury...same with Candida...it also burrows very deep into the tissue. Depending on whats going on with the Lyme...or other things you might be treating...it might sometimes reaveal itself and then other times there is no sign of it??

Kind of in the same way that its difficult to get it to show up in the bloodtests...or urine tests. Because it hides. It will use the metals and candida to hide behind...so that it can avoid attack from the immune system.

If you stir things up it might be more likely to appear in testing. I wasnt really taking anything at all when Scott tested me....except my cats claw for Lyme....but I'd been off of it for about a week before I saw him.

Also I hadnt touched the metals and was not on any antifungal.

He had suspected maybe the cats claw was the reason it wasnt showing up...even though I had been off of it for that week. He had already seen my Western Blots via email before I ever set up ART with him....so I think he was expecting to find Lyme. He does feel my WB's indicate Lyme.

He also knew that Anna was finding Lyme in BioSET.

So he just didnt know why he wasnt picking anything up that day....except for the fact that I tested really well for the Cats Claw.

I think I really stirred things up before I saw Amy....I had the 2 weeks on NDF.

If any metals were moved around...this could have released some Lyme.

Also...while I was doing NDF....I did not take Cats Claw. I had stopped taking it because for some reason I get freaked out about taking more things...and I just wanted to try the NDF on its own.

So...I actually hadnt been on the Cats Claw for a a few weeks (at least) before I saw Amy.

Something was happening at that time because I got really toxic.....remember....I wasnt even excited about seeing Dr. Amy!!

I was actually crying that day....on my way to BioSet...I didnt even want to go!!

So yeah...there was some toxic overload...dont know if it was from candida getting released...or if I moved too much mercury than I could get through my kidneys...or what. Definately stuff was getting stirred up though. <_<

I think that might be why Lyme showed up with her and not with Scott.

The issues of mold, candida and metals are showing strong in all of the tests...all of the time. I think Lyme just hides within them and sometimes avoids detection. <_<

I'm wondering if somehow my energy...which seems to kill batteries and stuff, lol, also makes it more difficult to get readings at BioSET

Donna....WTH??

Your energy kills batteries?? :o

Ummm...did I miss that story??

My mom says "but don't you have trees and bushes here"

:lol::lol:

Yeah...theres that....and then theres also the fact that you are Donna...and bugs just love you.

A tick would probably find you in Alaska. ;)

Hum, so I wonder what he was talking about with "reverse"...maybe I didn't hear the part about traditional muscle testing, lol.

This could be it too...I was taking all the new supplements Anna had given me, and started taking the Chlorella but that was AFTER she tested me the second time for lyme I think.

Donna....WTH??

Your energy kills batteries?? :o

Ummm...did I miss that story??

Well it was more of a sentence than a story. Somewhere in the last 10 pages I just said that I stopped buying and wearing regular watches because the batteries die after a very short time...not a normal time frame either. So I always say that I have some sort of weird energy.

:lol::lol:

Yeah...theres that....and then theres also the fact that you are Donna...and bugs just love you.

LMAO!!!! How could I forget!

Okay, I've already started the denial thing, so bear with me and please forgive me in advance--sheesh, I'm not even diagnosed yet.

It's beginning to sound like I may need to have everyone here take some chlorella for a little while before we head to ART testing.

Rachel, you'll have to tell me what kind you got at Whole Foods that was supposed to be good.

I don't blame any of you for being bitter about your doctors experiences. I was fortunate that the doctor recommended to me just happens to be a family doctor who does a lot of different things. I'm still willing to send whatever info his way that I can though. :)

You're forgiven. I haven't hit denial with anything YET. Hopefully, that trend will continue. :) It surely would be nice if we could swing ART this year......but, oh well. :(

Yes, and last night I was laying on the couch with my head on the arm rest and something caught the corner of my eye...it was a tiny little spider crawling near my head! You better believe that thing got relocated real quick.

Title: Gastrointestinal pathology in children with Lyme disease

Authors: Fried MD, Duray PH, Pietrucha D

Source: JSTD 1996; 3:101-104

Abstract:

Ten children between the ages of 8 and 19 with Lyme disease presented with chronic gastrointestinal symptoms. Biopsy evidence of inflammation was found in the stomach, duodenum, and colon. Pathologies included gastritis, duodenitis, gastric ulcer, colitis, and a histopathology resembling Crohn's disease. Spirochetes with the microscopic appearance of Borrelia were found in five patients with chronic inflammatory conditions of the gastrointestinal tract. The inflammation may have been due to the spirochete itself, a reactive product related to their presence in the gastroin-testinal tract, or a consequence of medications used to treat Lyme disease.

Wow, I am so far behind, I may never catch up! But I just saw this and wondered if anyone was still in touch with Penguin? She was diagnosed last year with Crohn's--but it might very well be Lyme, mightn't it?

In my mind its starting to look like Lyme is mistaken for alot of stuff. <_<

The list is loooong...

Andrea,

I dont think you need to worry...I dont think you guys have alot of issues for Lyme to even hide behind. If you did...you would be feeling it...and trust me...you would FEEL it. :o

Soooo...if you ever got tested...if its there..I'm sure it would show up. ;)

I dont think you'd need to "stir" things up.

My sister said that there are a lot of false negatives in lyme testing. I tested negative and they have now labeled me with leaky gut. They did not do any testing but said the massive loss of weight and loose bowels is how they got this diagnosis. They put me on Nystatin, digestive enzymes and probiotics. I weigh only 94lbs now so I hope it works.

That is true. Were you tested by Igenex? They have the most accurate testing available, but it still can be a false negative, especially if you're going by CDC standards. Do you have your results? If you have a couple positive bands that are specific to Lyme but don't meet CDC tracking criteria, you still probably have it, especially in the presence of symptoms.

Yes, I've heard the same thing about the false negatives. Which lab were you tested through...did they use Igenix? They still have false negatives, but I think they're still the most accurate for testing.

Hey, not to worry, this is still a current topic around here, lol. Welcome by the way!

If you werent tested by Igenix...I wouldnt trust the test results. They have the most accurate testing for Lyme. Other labs are pretty useless for Lyme testing.

I was at 94 lbs. awhile back...I also have Leaky Gut. Lyme could be behind it for you....I'd get tested through Igenix and see an LLMD (Lyme specialist) before ruling it out.

Your post demonstrates the profound frustration and isolation that so many in the Celiac community feel, and I want to thank you for channeling that experience into advocacy. The medical gaslighting you endured for decades is an unacceptable and, sadly, a common story, and the fact that you now have to "school" your own GI specialist speaks volumes about the critical lack of consistent and updated education. Your idea to make Celiac Disease a reportable condition to public health authorities is a compelling and strategic one. This single action would force the system to formally acknowledge the prevalence and seriousness of the disease, creating a concrete dataset that could drive better research funding, shape medical school curricula, and validate the patient experience in a way that individual stories alone often cannot. It is an uphill battle, but contacting representatives, as you have done with Adam Gray, is exactly how change begins. By framing it as a public health necessity—a matter of patient safety and protection from misdiagnosis and neglect—you are building a powerful case. Your voice and your perseverance, forged through thirty years of struggle, are exactly what this community needs to ensure that no one else has to fight so hard just to be believed and properly cared for.

Navigating medication safety with Celiac disease can be incredibly stressful, especially when dealing with asthma and severe allergies on top of it. While I don't have personal experience with the HealthA2Z brand of cetirizine, your caution is absolutely warranted. The inactive ingredients in pills, known as excipients, are often where gluten can be hidden, and since the FDA does not require gluten-free labeling for prescription or over-the-counter drugs, the manufacturer's word is essential. The fact that you cannot get a clear answer from Allegiant Health is a significant red flag; a company that is confident its product is gluten-free will typically have a customer service protocol to answer that exact question. In situations like this, the safest course of action is to consider this product "guilty until proven innocent" and avoid it. A better alternative would be to ask your pharmacist or doctor to help you identify a major national brand of cetirizine (like Zyrtec) whose manufacturer has a verified, publicly stated gluten-free policy for that specific medication. It's not worth the risk to your health when reliable, verifiable options are almost certainly available to you. You can search this site for USA prescriptions medications, but will need to know the manufacturer/maker if there is more than one, especially if you use a generic version of the medication: To see the ingredients you will need to click on the correct version of the medication and maker in the results, then scroll down to "Ingredients and Appearance" and click it, and then look at "Inactive Ingredients," as any gluten ingredients would likely appear there, rather than in the Active Ingredients area. https://dailymed.nlm.nih.gov/dailymed/

What you're describing is indeed familiar to many in the Celiac community, especially in the early stages of healing. When the intestinal villi are damaged from Celiac disease, they struggle to properly digest and absorb fats, a condition known as bile acid malabsorption. This can cause exactly the kind of cramping and spasms you're seeing, as undigested fats can irritate the sensitive gut lining. It is highly plausible that her reactions to dairy and eggs are linked to their higher fat content rather than the proteins, especially since she tolerates lean chicken breast. The great news is that for many, this does improve with time. As her gut continues to heal on a strict gluten-free diet, her ability to produce the necessary enzymes and bile to break down fats should gradually return, allowing her to slowly tolerate a wider variety of foods. It's a slow process of healing, but your careful approach of focusing on low-fat, nutrient-dense foods like seeds and avocado is providing her system the best possible environment to recover. Many people with celiac disease, especially those who are in the 0-2 year range of their recovery, have additional food intolerance issues which could be temporary. To figure this out you may need to keep a food diary and do an elimination diet over a few months. Some common food intolerance issues are dairy/casein, eggs, corn, oats, and soy. The good news is that after your gut heals (for most people who are 100% gluten-free this will take several months to two years) you may be able to slowly add some these items back into your diet after the damaged villi heal. This article may be helpful: Thank you for sharing your story—it's a valuable insight for other parents navigating similar challenges.

I had a very rough month after diagnosis. No exaggeration, lost so much inflammatory weight, I looked like a bag of bones, underneath i had been literally starving to death. I did start feeling noticeably better after a month of very strict control of my kitchen and home. What are you eating for breakfast and lunch? I ignored my doc and ate oats, yes they were gluten free, but some brands are at the higher end of gluten free. Lots of celics can eat Bob's Red Mill gluten-free oats, but not me. I can now eat them, but they have to be grown and processed according to the "purity protocol" methods. I mail order them, Montana Gluten-Free brand. A food and symptoms and activities log can be helpful in tracking down issues. You might be totally aware, but I have to mention about the risk of airborne gluten. As the doc that diagnosed me warned . . Remember eyes, ears, nose, and mouth all lead to your stomach and intestines.  Are you getting any cross contamination? Airborne gluten? Any pets eating gluten (they eat it, lick themselves, you pet them...)? Any house remodeling? We live in an older home, always fixing something. I've gotten glutened from the dust from cutting into plaster walls, possibly also plywood (glues). The suggestions by many here on vitamin supplements also really helped me. I had some lingering allergies and asthma, which are now 99% gone. I was taking Albuterol inhaler every hour just to breathe, but thiamine in form of benfotiamine kicked that down to 1-2 times a day within a few days of starting it. Also, since cutting out inflammatory seed oils (canola, sunflower, grapeseed, etc) and cooking with real olive oil, avocado oil, ghee, and coconut oil, I have noticed even greater improvement overall and haven't used the inhaler in months! It takes time to weed out everything in your life that contains gluten, and it takes awhile to heal and rebuild your health. At first it's mentally exhausting, overwhelming, even obsessive, but it gets better and second nature.
