And I took an insane senior-level "Statistics & Probabilities" class (Math464) where the variables like x & y, instead of standing for numbers, actually stood for entire sets of multi-variable EQUATIONS themselves!

So, believe me when I say that a 2nd ticket exactly doubles the chances of winning!! EXACTLY!!! :P

The jump from 1:150,000,000 to 1:75,000,000 doesn't seem worth the extra dollar to me. :D

I'm glad you learned such useful info in your stats class! I took stats ... hated it ... BORING ... I went to class the day before the exam to see where it was and the day after to get my grade, that was it. Hated it. Did I say it was boring? I got a B. Wasn't worth attending class to get an A!!!

Charlie, I read your post last night.

Scott uses detox foot pads and has them on his site. I plan on asking him about your question. I was waiting until the weekend because there are some other things I wanted to ask him about as well. I'll let you know when I get an answer to that question.

I'll send you a pm to let you know when I post about it. :)

Charlie, the pain was not so bad. As to any after affects, I can't see so much of a difference but then the package indicates that you should use them until they are no longer stained and mine are.

Reading along, lots to post to but I'm kind of foggy, fourth day of candida diet.

See you later. :)

Oh, no, Rinne bar withdrawal!!!! :o:o:o

Ecoffee and whey should help! ;) I used both today because I woke up groggy (should I really call it waking up when I really didn't sleep much????) .... even with so little sleep, I'm feeling great ... a lot different than I did before my detox stuff.

Going to the pool to go get some Vitamin D. :D I have to go late because of the Cipro .... plus then we don't have to slather the kids with sunscreen.

Hehe while it did have stats in the title, it really was far from the classic "stats class". Mine was an insane math class. :P

Not boring, but certainly quite challenging.

Aaargh I feel like my sidekick failed me!!

Rinne, I didn't know u started a candida diet!

Did I skip entire pages????

Don't know what your diet was before, but curious about how drastic the change is.

I know I felt better on day1 :) , w/ no die-off until getting on the ND's pills & powders a week later.

Sure wish *I'd* already known how to cook before suddenly *needing* to know, so you're ahead of the game there.

Good luck w/ that & hope it works wonders. :);)

Or yours or yours.

You, over there! Same slice!

Who wants the slice w/ the fancy flower o'frosting on it?

It's the Rachelville Health Fund!!!!

Quick drive by- today is sis's birthday.

What is the brand name of the whey protein you guys use? And it's denatured, right? What does that mean? The woman at my local health food store had never heard of it. <_<

Carla- I remember when you posted about getting a cold- chock it up to brain fog, but did you say that was a GOOD sign? I actually have a head cold...havent had one in years

Rachel--24 Collaborator

I decided I need to go to the dentist.

I need to get my teeth cleaned cuz its been more than 2 years now. Theres two really well respected holistic dentists in my area. I've seen both....one for my amalgam removals and the other checked for possible infections last year. He used a laser to see if I might have a problem where I had one extraction.

I remember thinking that he seemed to have some first hand experience with chronic illness the way he talked to me. I think I'm gonna see him because I remember him talking about alot of his patients having multiple chemical sensitivities....so I know he's very familiar with all this.

I remember talking to him about my jaw....the TMJ was really bad that day and it also happened to be the same day that I had that "episode" after starting Metronidazole. I didnt go to work that day but I did make it to my dentist appt.

I told him how my jaw problems only started once I got sick....and I asked him if it could ever resolve itself. He simply said "Yeah....it can."

I asked him "How....what do I need to do?"

He said "You need to find out what is putting so much stress on your immune system."

It was the HN Dr. that refered me to him last year and my other Dr.'s are familiar with him so right now I was trying to find out more info....and I came across this:

I just wanted to add here that I met Tim Gallagher today for a consolation and was extremely impressed. One thing that I find helpful is to understand ones motives for branching off the path of traditional medicine.

When I asked him why all dentists don't "get" this, his reply said it all. He calmly stated, "because they need to get mercury poisoned".

I thought he was kidding or something. But in reality, that is what happened to him 15 years ago as a result of working with it and they thought he had MS. That was his motivation, and has been a driving force behind this chelation/mercury removal force for some time. He is familiar with Andy's work, and speaks of him highly. He is also connected to a whole host of other professionals supporting this cause.

Now that I know for sure that mercury is the cause of my illness....and I know that he indeed has first hand experince and its his motivation for practicing holistic dentistry...he's the one I'm gonna see again.

No traditional dentist is ever gonna mess with my teeth again....not even for a cleaning. :D

I got alot worse at the beginning of 2004 right after having my teeth cleaned at a regular dentist. Of course I was already sick but I did get worse after the cleaning. I never really knew why but since then I've read alot about how the polishing of amalgams releases alot of mercury vapor. They say to never allow the amalgams to be polished.

Well yeah....there was lots of cleaning and polishing that day (I still had the last 2 amalgams)...at that point my system was already overloaded and I'm pretty sure just the cleaning and polishing got me much worse. :(

In the first couple years I cant even count how many different dentists I saw....including TMJ specialists. Tons of x-rays and tons of people cleaning and looking at my teeth. It should have been crystal clear that I was sick from the dental work from the start....I never had any problems with my teeth until those fillings came out and the crowns went in...then all heck broke loose in my mouth. :(

I need to break down and get my teeth cleaned though. :)

No...you dont want denatured....that means the proteins have been heated, damaged and are no longer active.

You want undenatured whey protein. Most of the stuff sold in the stores is denatured....its no good.

The brand I use is Metagenics BioPure Protein.

It contains soy though....soy gives me headaches. I've been having headaches so I'm gonna switch brands to see if its from the soy or not.

It might not be the soy in this case.....there is also cysteine and some of the other amino acids to consider. <_<

So yeah....I'm looking for another brand too. :)

Lisa....I looked at yours and I remember liking it...could you post it again?

Rachel--24 Collaborator

Hey Lisa,

So maybe Gallagher would be a better dentist to work with for the rest of the removals? Sounds like he's got alot of experience not only with the removals but with chelation as well. Seems like he's the guy most people are seeing who are really toxic ...he might be a good choice for you. He might be able to get you on the right program.

Rachel--24 Collaborator

So now I know of 2 dentists that I've personally seen in the last few years that have been treated for mercury toxicity....so thats 2 out of maybe 9 or 10.

One told me himself...the other I just happened to read about on the internet...so there could be others that I've seen that just didnt bring it up or have never bothered to be tested.

I think 2 out of 10 is significant.

Carla- I remember when you posted about getting a cold- chock it up to brain fog, but did you say that was a GOOD sign? I actually have a head cold...havent had one in years

I took it as a good sign ... my immune system recognized I had a cold and fought it off. There was talk a while ago on this on Lymenet ... many thought it was a good sign. I wonder if it's a detox thing ... I was about as far into treatment as you are, I think, when I got mine.

In Fit For Life, Harvey Diamond, who is all about detox (he has agent orange and is still around and walking with his natural cures), says that's what a cold is. I don't entirely buy that because they can be viruses, but I understand what he means. He has a my space with a lot of information.

I bought my whey at Wild Oats .... it's 99% undenatured. I can't remember what brand or if it has soy, but I'll check when I'm downstairs.

Dear Rachel,

The galvanic reaction is very dangerous. I do not think many people realize how strong an impact it has on the brain. The ANS especially has been a victim of it frequently. I am so tired of everyone trying to sick their head in the sand about this. These electrical impulses are much too strong for the brain, and lead to serious cognitive impairment.

Well, I did my little detox part today...came home from the flea market and soaked in a nice epsom salt bath. I forgot to buy baking soda though....been forgetting for several weeks now. Oh well.

That's not the half of it.......no cell or cordless phone use, 8' from TV and you have to use an eraser on the remote. Can't hold it. No hair dryer, no electric stove or oven, no GPS, if you listen to music you have to use an eraser to touch the buttons........that's not all, it's quite a big paragraph of things.

Also you are supposed to be in the back seat......maybe that was 8' too.....of the car on the ride home which isn't supposed to be more than 2 hours (we can't help that one).

:o NO HAIRDRYER!!!!! Oh heavens...I'd definitely NOT be able to leave my house! I think my couch is 8' away from my TV, so that's cool...but I live with the remote in my hand. :( NO STOVE...egads...that means no food for me. :( Then there's the drive home.

Ok before I forget -

Donna! From prior post, Capitol or Berryessa Flea Circus?

Actually neither...we went to the DeAnza Flea Market....it was a beautiful day...very sunny but not too hot. I bought a lovely salmon colored purse for $10. It matches the nail polish I bought earlier at Walgreens! Such useful info for you ain't (word especially for Webster Spice) it?! Oh, also bought a package of Sharpies for $1, and a package of pot scrubbers for $1. I have a varied buying interest apparently! :P

<oops timer went off. time to adjust my nuts>

Laaaayyy-diiiies I'm roasting some cashews!!! <sheesh>

 Must admit I really had to read that first line a few times before I made it to the second line.

Quick drive by- today is sis's birthday.

Happy Birthday to Bevvy Wevvy's sister!

Sorry you now have a cold! Grrrr!

Hum, this is probably a silly question, but you all know I'm silly so here goes:

I wonder if the undenatured whey comes in a goat or sheep version? Did we talk about that before cuz it seems like it's familiar.

I've been trying a little goat and sheep plain yogurt, and I seem to be doing okay with it. I don't know if I could do that every day, but I've been having goat yogurt (one small 6oz container) one day then a few days later having the sheep milk yogurt (also 6 oz).

I don't know. I know the probiotics we buy (from Mercola) are from goats milk.

Talitha loves taking those out of the capsule.

I wonder if you'd be able to tolerate the ones I listed. They are both grass fed cows and raw I believe. Supposedly raw is beter tolerated than the pastuerized stuff.

Rachel--24 Collaborator
I've found non-denatured whey. I forget who puts it out but it's organic, grass fed cows (forget wether they were 100% but I think they were), no soy is in it, etc.

It's Whey Cool. Mercola also sells a good one called Whey Healthier. It does have soy lecithin in it.

We are looking into getting Whey Cool since it has no soy components in it.

Andrea...you are the BEST!

This is the one that Dr. K. mentions as being his favorite.

Its put out by the people who were actually doing the interview....Dr. K. was saying "I'm not trying to push your product but this is the one I've found to be the best".

It was the Whey Cool. I didnt write it down so I was just about to try to search for his comments in the interview.

Thanks...now I dont need to do that. :)

Its by Designs For Health.....I'm pretty sure they were the ones who were interviewing Dr. Klinghardt.

Heres the link for anyone interested

Hi @Scatterbrain Thank you for your reply.   Some of these things could be weaknesses, also triggered by stress, which perhaps have come about as the result of long-term deficiencies which can take a long time to correct.   Some could be completely unrelated. If it is of help, I'll tell you some of the things that started in the first year or two, following my diagnosis - I pinned everything on coeliac disease, but it turns out I wasn't always right!  Dizziness, lightheaded - I was eventually diagnosed with cervical dizziness (worth googling, could be your issue too, also if you have neck pain?)  A few months after diagnosis I put my neck out slightly carrying my seven-year-old above my head, and never assigned any relevance to it as the pain at the time was severe but so short-lived that I'd forgotten the connection. Jaw pain - stress. Tinnitus - I think stress, but perhaps exacerbated by iron/vitamin deficiencies. Painful ribs and sacroiliac joints - no idea, bloating made the pain worse. It got really bad but then got better. Irregular heart rate - could be a coincidence but my sister (not a coeliac) and I both developed this temporarily after our second Astra Zeneca covid jabs.   Subsequent Pfizer jabs didn't affect us. Brain fog - a big thing for people with certain autoimmune issues but in my case I think possibly worse when my iron or B12 are low, but I have no proof of this. Insomnia - stress, menopause. So basically, it isn't always gluten.  It might be worth having your vitamins and mineral levels checked, and if you have deficiencies speak to your Dr about how better to address them?

@NanceK, I do have Hypersensitivity Type Four reaction to Sulfa drugs, a sulfa allergy.  Benfotiamine and other forms of Thiamine do not bother me at all.  There's sulfur in all kinds of Thiamine, yet our bodies must have it as an essential nutrient to make life sustaining enzymes.  The sulfur in thiamine is in a ring which does not trigger sulfa allergy like sulfites in a chain found in pharmaceuticals.  Doctors are not given sufficient education in nutrition (nor chemistry in this case).  I studied Nutrition before earning a degree in Microbiology.  I wanted to know what vitamins were doing inside the body.   Thiamine is safe and nontoxic even in high doses.   Not feeling well after starting Benfotiamine is normal.  It's called the "thiamine paradox" and is equivalent to an engine backfiring if it's not been cranked up for a while.  Mine went away in about three days.  I took a B Complex, magnesium and added molybdenum for a few weeks. It's important to add a B Complex with all eight essential B vitamins. Supplementing just one B vitamin can cause lows in some of the others and result in feeling worse, too.  Celiac Disease causes malabsorption of all the B vitamins, not just thiamine.  You need all eight.  Thiamine forms including Benfotiamine interact with each of the other B vitamins in some way.  It's important to add a magnesium glycinate or chelate supplement as well.  Forms of Thiamine including Benfotiamine need magnesium to make those life sustaining enzymes.  (Don't use magnesium oxide.  It's not absorbed well.  It pulls water into the intestines and is used to relieve constipation.)   Molybdenum is a trace mineral that helps the body utilize forms of Thiamine.   Molybdenum supplements are available over the counter.  It's not unusual to be low in molybdenum if low in thiamine.   I do hope you will add the necessary supplements and try Benfotiamine again. Science-y Explanation of Thiamine Paradox: https://hormonesmatter.com/paradoxical-reactions-with-ttfd-the-glutathione-connection/#google_vignette

Your goal is not to be a good puppet, there is no gain in that. You might want to restart the ones that helped.  It sounds more like you are suffering from malnutrition.  Gluten free foods are not fortified with things like Thiamine (B1), vitamin D, Iodine, B1,2,3,5,6 and 12 as non-gluten free products are required to be. There is a Catch-22 here.  Malnutrition can cause SIBO, and SIBO can worsen malnutrition. Another possibility is side effects from any medication that are taking.  I was on Metformin 3 months before it turned me into a zombi.  I had crippling side effects from most of the BP meds tried on me, and Losartan has many of the side effects on me from my pre gluten free days. Because you have been gluten free, you can test and talk until you are blue in the face but all of your tests will be negative.  Without gluten, you will not create the antigen against gluten, no antigens to gluten, so no small intestine damage from the antigens.  You will need to do a gluten challange to test positive if you need an official diagnosis, and even then, no guaranty: 10 g of gluten per day for 6 weeks! Then a full panel of Celiac tests and biopsy. At a minimum consider vitamin D, Liquid Iodine (unless you have dermatitis herpetiformis and iodine exasperates the rash), and Liquid Geritol. Push for vitamin D testing and a consult with a nutritionist experienced with Celiack Disease.  Most blood tests don't indicate nutritional deficiencies.  Your thyroid tests can be perfect, yet not indicate iodine deficiency for example.  Thiamine   test fine, but not pick up on beriberi.  Vegans are often B12 deficient because meat, fish, poultry, eggs, and dairy are the primary souces of B12. Here is what I take daily.  10,000 IU vitamin D3 750 mg g a b a [   ] 200 mg CoQ10 [   ] 100 mg DHEA [   ] 250 mg thiamine B1 [   ] 100 mg of B2 [   ] 500 mg B5 pantothenic acid [   ] 100 mg B6 [   ] 1000 micrograms B12 n [   ] 500 mg vitamin c [   ] 500 mg taurine [   ] 200 mg selenium

Hi…Just a note that if you have an allergy to sulfa it’s best not to take Benfotiamine. I bought a bottle and tried one without looking into it first and didn’t feel well.  I checked with my pharmacist and he said not to take it with a known sulfa allergy. I was really bummed because I thought it would help my energy level, but I was thankful I was given this info before taking more of it.

Hello @Scatterbrain, Are you getting enough vitamins and minerals.  Gluten free food is not fortified so you may be starting to run low on B vitamins and vitamin D.   By the way you should get your mom checked for celiac disease.  You got it from your mom or dad.  Some studies show that following a gluten-free diet can stabilize or improve symptoms of dementia.  I know that for the 63 years I was eating gluten I got dumber and dumber until I started GFD and vitamin replenishment and it began to reverse.  Thiamine can get used up in a week or two.  Symptoms can come and go with daily diet.  Symptoms of beriberi due to Thiamine deficiency.   Difficulty walking. Loss of feeling (sensation) in hands and feet. Loss of muscle function or paralysis of the lower legs. Mental confusion. Pain. Speech difficulties. Strange eye movements (nystagmus) Tingling. Any change in medications? Last March I had corotid artery surgery (90 % blockage), and I started taking Losartan for blood pressure, added to the Clonidine I was taking already.  I was not recovering well and many of my pre gluten free symptoms were back  I was getting worse.  At first I thought it was caused a reaction to the anesthesia from the surgery, but that should have improved after two weeks.  Doctor thought I was just being a wimp. After three months I talked to my doctor about a break from the Losartan to see if it was causing it. It had not made any difference in my bp.  Except for clonindine, all of the previous bp meds tried had not worked to lower bp and had crippling side effects. One, I could not stand up straight; one wobbly knees, another spayed feet.  Inguinal hernia from the Lisinopril cough.  Had I contiued on those, I was destined for a wheelchair or walker. She said the symptoms were not from Losartan so I continued taking it.  Two weeks later I did not have the strength in hips and thighs to get up from sitting on the floor (Help, I can't get up😨).  I stopped AMA (not recommended).  Without the Losartan, a) bp did not change, after the 72 hour withdrawal from Losartanon, on clonidine only and b) symptoms started going away.  Improvement started in 72 hours.  After six weeks they were gone and I am getting better.
