Any gluten-free Barbecue Sauce?

LOVE this site! Cannot believe how helpful it's been.

My 5 yr old son was recently diagnosed with celiac, so I've been thrust into this new "world." However, I have to say that briefly reading some of the posts, this site has helped bring me from panic state down to "OK. I think I can deal with this better than I thought I could" state.

Quick question, though. My mom wants to have us over for dinner tomorrow night, and wants to find a gluten-free barbecue sauce that she can use on some ribs. Any idea of something she can find in a regular supermarket, or does she have to go to a Whole Foods/Trader Joes/Wegman's?

Thanks.

I use Kraft all the time...they will not hide anything and will clearly say wheat, rye, barley, or oats right on the label if it has any.

Sweet Baby Ray's is the best that I have ever tasted, but it is a matter of taste, afterall. But, I love the stufff and we have it about once a week.

I'm a fan of "Bone Suckin' Sauce" (Whoke Foods).

Another thing I love about the Kraft bbq sauces is that they are also always the cheapest. I spend too much money already on items that are gluten free - it's good to always pick up Kraft bbq sauce at rock bottom prices!

True enough Karen--many times my Acme will have it for 99 cents a bottle! ;)

I second Tarnalberry's advocacy of the "Bone Suckin Sauce" -- I like the hot and spicy...

I vote for Kraft too.

Kaiti, do you know how I can get to the Delphi list of gluten-free foods?

Hi Griffinsmom-

I am the Mom of a Griffin too! My Griff is 2yrs old. He is Gluten Free as well as his 4yr old sis Abby. I know it feels very overwhelming on this diet. This message board has helped me more than anything. Stick with the people here. It does get easier. Good Luck!

P.s. we use the Kraft Bbq

The wegmans is gluten free and it is very good. I had it over the weekend and I was impressed. The bottle was on sale too I paid 99 cents for it. Alot of people on here like Kraft and that says alot, plus Kraft is a very safe company. Hope that helps.

My gluten guard program says that Kraft has gluten. Could it be wrong?

Smunkeemom Enthusiast

I use Hunts, but you have to read it, like 3 of the "flavors" are gluten free but 2 are not, I am pretty sure the plain and mesquite are gluten free.. I would have to go to the fridge to check though. LOL

Kraft will list any allergen ingredients such as wheat on the product itself. Also, their website lists gluten-free products.

I know their honey BBQ that we use by Kraft is gluten free....Kraft will not hide anything and will clearly indicate it on the label if it has any.

funny, i was just at the store and noticed "Annie's Naturals BBQ Sauce" and its gluten-free. never tried it but if its as good as their salad dressings, then i'm sure it's... uh, good. they carry it here at Kroger in the natural foods section and i'm sure places like Whole Foods have it

Im so frustrated and still getting the run around trying to reprove my celiac disease which my past primary ignored for 25 years.I understand that theres a ray of medical that doctors are limited too but not listening and telling the patient ( me) that im not as sensitive as I think and NOT celiac!Correction Mr white coat its not what I think but for cause and affect and past test that are not sticking in my medical records.I get sick violently with foods consumed, not eating the foods will show Im fabulous. After many blood draws and going through doctors I have the HLA- DQ2 positive which I read in a study that Iran conducted that the severity in celiac is in that gene.Im glutenfree and dealing with related issues which core issue of celiac isn't addressed. My skin, right eye, left leg diagestive issues affected. I have high blood pressure because im in pain.Im waisting my time on trying to reprove that Im celiac which is not a disease I want, but unfortunately have. It  has taken over my life personally and professionally. How do I stop getting medically gaslight and get the help needed to bounce back if I ever do bounce back to normal? I thought I was in good care with " celiac specialist " but in her eyes Im good.Im NOT.Sibo positive, IBS, Chronic Fatigue just to name a few and its all related to what I like to call a ghost disease ( celiac) since doctors don't seem to take it seriously.

@Martha Mitchell, your reaction to the lens implant with gluten sounds like it could be an allergic reaction rather than a celiac reaction. It is possible for a celiac to be also allergic to gluten as it is a protein component in wheat, barley and rye.

Scott I also have different symptoms than most people. It affects me bad. Stomach ache, headache, nauseous, heart racing, whole body shaking, can't walk then my throat starts to close. It attacks my nervous system. The only thing that saves me is a 1/2 of Xanax...it calms down my nervous system

Scott Adams. I was dealing with a DR that didn't care about me being celiac. I repeatedly told him that I was celiac and is everything gluten-free. He put an acrylic lens from j&j. I called the company to ask about gluten and was told yes that the acrylic they use has gluten....then they back tracked immediately and stopped talking to me. The Dr didn't care that I was having issues. It took me 6 months and a lot of sickness to get it removed.... which can only happen within 6 months. The Dr that took it out said that it was fused and that's why I lost vision. If they would have removed it right away everything would be fine. He put in a silicone one that was gluten-free and I've had no issues at all in the other eye. Do not do acrylic!
