Well, the storm front has passed, and is now moving in Emily's direction. It seems to have taken my energy with it. I'm ready to call it an early night.

Somebody bought a fiddle on eBay for $24.99 (plus shipping). Wuz it our Jess?

I have a meeting with my pillow in about 5 minutes...

Hi-O Psuess! Been a long time since we've squiggled together. Glad you had a good time. Pity you have to pay for it later :)

Mimm-e-o .... hope your bad day was only one. You need a bright shiny new day tomorrow. "No need to talk it out, we know what it's all about. Walkin' around, some kind of lonely clown, rainy days and mondays always get me down". I SO loved Karen Carpenter. I am convinced that *she* had celiac disease. What a waste and a shame!

Psuessley has a "hairsuit"...she said so! :lol::lol:

Curly Lees-ah! So so so glad you are back, and finding some psilly. With faith, all things bad hold some good within. You both have such an amazing sense of humor, and peaceful acceptance. We could all learn something from you. Hope that peace is firmly anchored and fill all of the corners of your being.

Am  my adopted extended psilly family!

Again? Why not, after a few times, what is another?

When we rescued a cat in 1995, we dubbed him Max. We later learned that he had been known as Blackie. He passed away in 1998.

Thomas, whom we rescued in 1998, had been known as "Roadie" by his previous owner (short for Road Kill). Thomas passed away from a stroke last year.

Becky, our gray tabby store cat, was called Missy by the person who rescued her as a stray. We renamed her Becky when we adopted her. There is a story behind that, but I will save it for another time.

Nah, she belongs to the whole country, her parents had to cede custody because everyone wanted to claim her. Just keep her outta the hands of the current guvmint, they'll turn her into a flamin' capitalist and pretty soon she'll be selling leg amputations on the 'net  Would gladly claim her as mine own, but she looks so muchly betta than I did at her age, wouldn't work :(

Good psillie mornin all! We've been having a heat wave here...record highs (not with cloves Psuess! ). Expecting 90's today....yipeeeeee, my favorite kind of weather! My boss hates me because she gets overheated easily, and I don't even break a sweat. (heh heh). Even if I did I wouldn't let her know. Used to sweat, but only in hard labor.....like pitching hay bales in the loft. I just wish it was an "at home" day for me.

Having trouble with algae in the pond because of all of the rain and mild temps. Probably because it's "all new" water again. I'll get it figured out!!!!! Can't use chemicals (wouldn't want to anyway) because of the wildlife, and because we are going to put in fish this year. Too early to buy snails, too.

Hope y'all're having a healthy, happy, shiny Sunday! TTYL :D

GYAN-NIT!!!.......Don't forget to put up yer signs and get some change for the cash box!!!!!

Hey all . . . just a quick poop-in . . . trying to get caught up on (already can't remember what page I was on) but tis time to stop and make some banana muffins for breakfast.

Had three families of sh!t crap tat in the garage with two additional families with a couple of items thrown in. Twas quite successful overall. I have not done the final numbers, but roughly, as a group we took in around $1100 (over three days). The sale was at our house so our garage has been out of commission for many days now . . . neighbors will be coming to get their remaining sh!t crap unsellables today.

More later.

What an incredibly humbling story. I am sorry for the ordeal you have suffered through, and inspired and awed by your wit and strength.

  not yet......

figured I had to start somewhere, and getting the instrument itself seemed like a good place

One of my few regrets in this life is that I never learned to play the violin. I love the sweet, sorrowful 'twang' more than any other form of music.

At our former house, we used an enzyme to help with the algae--help is the operative word, though <_< We didn't believe in using chemicals either--we had many fish and frogs would come by, too. With the string algae, Mark would just pull it out with his hands. It's amazing how effective that is.

Trying hard to get back into my old routine, but I don't feel like the same person I was.

What about people from other Spanish-speaking countries, like El Salvador, Colombia, Guatemala, etc.? Confused.....are they not also Hispanic? We are no longer permitted, in good taste, to refer to someone from Mexico as "Mexican". . .. . ..so can I still refer to someone from Argentina as "Argentinian"? this may be rude, now. . . ....

Even referring so someone as "Chinese" can elicit a wince nowadays. . .....they are....East Asian.. .. . ....

Gah, 'tis not amazing A 'TALL!! I meet two or three people a week who, after listening patiently to all of their symptoms, the old "I've missed work/the gym/school/that party", I am convinced are having problems with gluten.

In the study linked above, the little girl switched to a gluten free diet and gained enough weight that that fat pad was replenished and surgery was not needed.   Here's the full article link... Hello, @Jordan Carlson, So glad you're feeling better.   Tecta is a proton pump inhibitor.  PPI's also interfere with the production of the intrinsic factor needed to absorb Vitamin B12.  Increasing the amount of B12 you supplement has helped overcome the lack of intrinsic factor needed to absorb B12. Proton pump inhibitors also reduce the production of digestive juices (stomach acids).  This results in foods not being digested thoroughly.  If foods are not digested sufficiently, the vitamins and other nutrients aren't released from the food, and the body cannot absorb them.  This sets up a vicious cycle. Acid reflux and Gerd are actually symptoms of producing too little stomach acid.  Insufficient stomach acid production is seen with Thiamine and Niacin deficiencies.  PPI's like Tecta also block the transporters that pull Thiamine into cells, preventing absorption of thiamine.  Other symptoms of Thiamine deficiency are difficulty swallowing, gagging, problems with food texture, dysphagia. Other symptoms of Thiamine deficiency are symptoms of ADHD and anxiety.  Vyvanse also blocks thiamine transporters contributing further to Thiamine deficiency.  Pristiq has been shown to work better if thiamine is supplemented at the same time because thiamine is needed to make serotonin.  Doctors don't recognize anxiety and depression and adult onset ADHD as early symptoms of Thiamine deficiency. Stomach acid is needed to digest Vitamin C (ascorbic acid) in fruits and vegetables.  Ascorbic acid left undigested can cause intestinal upsets, anxiety, and heart palpitations.   Yes, a child can be born with nutritional deficiencies if the parents were deficient.  Parents who are thiamine deficient have offspring with fewer thiamine transporters on cell surfaces, making thiamine deficiency easier to develop in the children.  A person can struggle along for years with subclinical vitamin deficiencies.  Been here, done this.  Please consider supplementing with Thiamine in the form TTFD (tetrahydrofurfuryl disulfide) which helps immensely with dysphagia and neurological symptoms like anxiety, depression, and ADHD symptoms.  Benfotiamine helps with improving intestinal health.  A B Complex and NeuroMag (a magnesium supplement), and Vitamin D are needed also.
    • knitty kitty
@pothosqueen, Welcome to the tribe! You'll want to get checked for nutritional deficiencies and start on supplementation of B vitamins, especially Thiamine Vitamin B 1.   There's some scientific evidence that the fat pad that buffers the aorta which disappears in SMA is caused by deficiency in Thiamine.   In Thiamine deficiency, the body burns its stored fat as a source of fuel.  That fat pad between the aorta and digestive system gets used as fuel, too. Ask for an Erythrocyte Transketolace Activity test to look for thiamine deficiency.  Correction of thiamine deficiency can help restore that fat pad.   Best wishes for your recovery!   Interesting Reading: Superior Mesenteric Artery Syndrome in a 6-Year-Old Girl with Final Diagnosis of Celiac Disease https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/31089433/#:~:text=Affiliations,tissue and results in SMAS.
    • trents
Wow! You're pretty young to have a diagnosis of SMA syndrome. But youth also has its advantages when it comes to healing, without a doubt. You might be surprised to find out how your health improves and how much better you feel once you eliminate gluten from your diet. Celiac disease is an autoimmune disorder that, when gluten is consumed, triggers an attack on the villous lining of the small bowel. This is the section of the intestines where all our nutrition is absorbed. It is made up of billions of tiny finger-like projections that create a tremendous surface area for absorbing nutrients. For the person with celiac disease, unchecked gluten consumption generates inflammation that wears down these fingers and, over time, greatly reduces the nutrient absorbing efficiency of the small bowel lining. This can generate a whole host of other nutrient deficiency related medical problems. We also now know that the autoimmune reaction to gluten is not necessarily limited to the lining of the small bowel such that celiac disease can damage other body systems and organs such as the liver and the joints and cause neurological problems.  It can take around two years for the villous lining to completely heal but most people start feeling better well before then. It's also important to realize that celiac disease can cause intolerance to some other foods whose protein structures are similar to gluten. Chief among them are dairy and oats but also eggs, corn and soy. Just keep that in mind.
