I'm afraid this is my fault, Judith. I failed to enter your new email address into my gmail account--I just had it in my Comcast one. I coulda sworn I added it to both accounts..... That explains why you didn't get the forward I sent to everyone.

So-o-o-o-o......I throw myselph on the mercy of the court B)

Anywho, it's been rectified (hee! I said "rectified" :P), and you are now back in both "sillie groups".

Smackl had a big project due Wednesday. Skeeter had a small project due Tuesday and voluntarily(Smackl would never do such a thing) signed up for the Science Fair which was last night. We were there for 3 hours!! Smackl has belt testing for TKD tonight. Hubby leaves for a week long trip tomorrow. Throw in the regular stuff . . . homework, piano lessons, blah, blah, blah . . . after hubby leaves, I'm going back to bed for the rest of the day.

Good to see you Juedee.

kareng Grand Master

I need some funny things to say to my FIL on Sunday night. He's a doozy. In town for a couple of days & BIL is having us all over for dinner. Told Bro about Celiac & knows a little & will try hard. I'll bring food, too. FIL is retired dentist who knows everything about anything medical. He will "know" all about Celiacs, too. Probably the only time he heard about it was when he went to a dental convention. It was the workshop he skipped to go to the pool for margaritas. SIL says she is serving lots of wine to help her & I get through it. May eat at the kitchen table with 4 teen boys.

Whenever the topic comes up offer him a margarita to jog his memory.

  Jyaghnutt crackin' up at Patti crackin' herself up cracks me RIGHT up. ... ...

Kherrighn, I remember addressing the subject of celiac to my dentist when I was first diagnosed, as it likely explained my lifelong battle with cavities and enamel deficiency. He is an older man, ready to retire.. . .. .. .....and he looked at me like I was from another planet. At least he had vaguely heard of the illness. He smiled politely and mentioned something about it being related to faulty digestion, and therefore not at all to oral health. <_<

So, you could have an interesting time with your tippling FIL. . . .. . . ......

mushroom Proficient

Wow! Emmel, you is so clever--quoting yourselph within a post afore ye have even posted it :blink:

Dat's a durned clever trick!! I won't even attempt to emulate it :P

Joodee, so good to see you back. Did I miss an update and a Velcro pic?? How is the wee darlin'?? Has he become a California kool kat? My Main Coone kitteh could never have been a California cat--when it gets to be 80 degrees in the house she looks at me so piteously, and says "DO SOMETHING"!!! (I am wearing a fur coat, ya know!!) and flops down on the tile floor. So muggins turns on the air conditioning, FOR THE CAT!!

Well, I am certainly glad that all the things that needed rectifying have been dooly rectified by our chief rectifier  and hope that no more rectification needs to occur because I for one do not like to be rectified on any account :o .

I am one of the fortunate few whose dentist has a celiac wife and children :) so needs no education. He does not, however, serve Margaritas! And just when ya needs em too, so you can dribble them out of the side of your mouth that's numb and down your chin and onto your clothes  I have to wait to do that with my capucchino to which I always treat meselph after dental punishment.

Clay is happy because summer (as he knows it from CA) is phinally in phull bloom. All that crazy stuphhh that was coming up from Antarctica is finally staying down in the Southern Ocean where it belongs and all is good in our household for a while. Thank (the higher power) for no smog!!, one of the things I was happy to leave behind. Of course, driving down the road I have to keep the air on recirculate because Kiwis have a lluuvv aphair with diesels, and not the modern ones but the dirty stinky ones from days of yore--PeeYugh, makes me coff 'cos my lungs are shot from the CA smog :( There's just no winnin' wherever ya goes.

Loved yer update, Shroomie!! :D

Rectify is a phunny word .....taylor made fer us!!

Rectify is a phunny word .....taylor made fer us!!

Who is this Taylor? And will he or she make a word for my FIL?

mushroom Proficient

Emmel, you is playing tricks on me. Because your post which was included in the quote from Ghianknit is no longer in the quote. Wotinell is happening here?

Yeah, I love rectify too. Geo. Eliot: "You can neither straighten their noses, nor...rectify their dispositions" :P

Kitteh is now flopped on top level of her condo, three legs in the air, belly exposed to the full blast of the air con  Not a lady, my kitteh!

elye Community Regular

Ahhhh, Shroooomie. . . . . .....whotever in hell are you talkin' about? Quotin' meselph, changin' it back, all before I've posted? ...And now it's..........gone?.. . . ...... . .. . ........are you drinkin' sumfin'?... . .

:P:lol:

Rectify is a phunny word .....taylor made fer us!!

Who is this Taylor? And will he or she make a word for my FIL?

Well........ .. . . Rectify is a funny word....... but I've got a funnier one for your FIL, Khearrihn: FRUCTIFY. 'Tis an intransitive verb, meaning to bear fruit, reproduce or make productive. As in, Jooooodie will be fructifying her property in California.

Kherrighn, try to use this word in your discourse with your FIL. "Now, here......have another margarita, Dad - - it greatly fructifies your wit".....

Em's right--then go out into the kitchen and have another glass of wine  Repeat as needed.

Check your multivitamin to see if it contains Thiamine Mononitrate, which is a "shelf-stable" form of thiamine that doesn't break down with exposure to light, heat, and time sitting on a shelf waiting to be sold.  Our bodies have difficulty absorbing and utilizing it.  Only 30% is absorbed and less can be utilized.   There's some question as to how well multivitamins dissolve in the digestive tract.  You can test this at home.  YouTube has instructional videos.   Talk to your nutritionist about adding a B Complex.  The B vitamins are water soluble, so any excess is easily excreted if not needed.  Consider adding additional Thiamine in the forms Benfotiamine or TTFD (tetrahydrofurfuryl disulfide) or thiamine hydrochloride.   Thiamine is needed to help control electrolytes.  Without sufficient thiamine, the kidneys loose electrolytes easily resulting in low sodium and chloride.   We need extra thiamine when we're emotionally stressed, physically ill, and when we exercise regularly, are an athlete, or do physical labor outdoors, and in hot weather.  Your return to activities and athletics may have depleted your thiamine and other B vitamins to a point symptoms are appearing.   The deficiency symptoms of B vitamins overlap, and can be pretty vague, or easily written off as due to something else like being tired after a busy day.  The symptoms you listed are the same as early B vitamin deficiency symptoms, especially Thiamine.  Thiamine deficiency symptoms can appear in as little as three days.  I recognize the symptoms as those I had when I was deficient.  It can get much worse. "My symptoms are as follows: Dizziness, lightheaded, headaches (mostly sinus), jaw/neck pain, severe tinnitus, joint stiffness, fatigue, irregular heart rate, post exercise muscle fatigue and soreness, brain fog, insomnia.  Generally feeling unwell." I took a B 50 Complex twice a day and extra thiamine in the forms Benfotiamine and TTFD.  I currently take the Ex Plus supplement used in this study which shows B vitamins, especially Thiamine B 1, Riboflavin B2, Pyridoxine B 6, and B12 Cobalamine are very helpful.   A functional evaluation of anti-fatigue and exercise performance improvement following vitamin B complex supplementation in healthy humans, a randomized double-blind trial https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC10542023/

I am taking a multivitamin which is pretty bolstered with B’s.  Additional Calcium, D3, Magnesium, Vit C, and Ubiquinol.  Started Creapure creatine monohydrate in June for athletic recovery and brain fog.  I have been working with a Nutritionist along side my Dr. since February.  My TTG IGA levels in January were 52.8 and my DGP IGA was >250 (I don’t know the exact number since it was so high).  All my other labs were normal except Sodium and Chloride which were low.  I have more labs coming up in Dec.  I make my own bread, and don’t eat a lot of processed gluten-free snacks.

@Scatterbrain, What supplements are you taking? I agree that the problem may be nutritional deficiencies.  It's worth talking to a dietician or nutritionist about.   Did you get a Marsh score at your diagnosis?  Was your tTg IgA level very high?  These can indicate more intestinal damage and poorer absorption of nutrients.   Are you eating processed gluten free food stuffs?  Have you looked into the Autoimmune Protocol Diet?
    • knitty kitty
Vitamin and mineral deficiencies can make TMJ worse.  Vitamins like B12 , Thiamine B1, and Pyridoxine B6 help relieve pain.  Half of the patients in one study were deficient in these three vitamins in one study below. Malabsorption of vitamins and minerals is common in celiac disease.  It's important to eat healthy nutrient dense diets like the Autoimmune Protocol Diet, a Paleo diet that has similarities to the Mediterranean diet mentioned in one of the studies.   Is there a link between diet and painful temporomandibular disorders? A cross-sectional study https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC12442269/   Nutritional Strategies for Chronic Craniofacial Pain and Temporomandibular Disorders: Current Clinical and Preclinical Insights https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC11397166/   Serum nutrient deficiencies in the patient with complex temporomandibular joint problems https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC2446412/
    • Iam
Yes.  I have had the tmj condition for 40 years. My only help was strictly following celiac and also eliminating soy.  Numerous dental visits and several professionally made bite plates  did very little to help with symptoms
