DD is moving into her residence on Sunday. Not a long drive for us -- perhaps 15 km -- but we'll have two stuffed cars. What in hell? Why is she taking two enormous suitcases full of clothing? She gets on a bus, comes home and grabs her winter sweaters in a couple of months....

Anyways, her room is on the fifteenth floor of one of the main res buildings -- the top floor, and there is no air conditioning. We are all hoping for a cool September. Also, the elevators, for whatever the reason, only stop at even floors. We have a sizeable bar fridge, dresser, huge suitcases and bags to haul up two flights of stairs from the fourteenth floor.

Dear gawd... . . ... .. .and how much is all this costing us?? <_<

Dratted "multi-quote" doens't wqrk on this computer.

J is on the 4th foor. 1 small elevator that gave out part way thru move-in.

But you gain a confident, beautiful, intelligent adult who (eventually) respects you and thinks you are wonderful.

And one who can support themselves!

But you have to move to a smaller house or you will end up with 'boomerang' kids.

But you'd have to anyway, to pay for their schooling. It's a brilliant design, really.

Are you taking him any peanut butter cookies so he can show the girls what they are supposed to taste like? :D

Yes. I'm baking them this afternoon & freezing for freshness.

Yes, well!... . . On the homemade baked goods front, Sophie is getting, let's see... . ...approximately.... .... . . ..... . . .nothing. We're paying most of her tuition, she can do her own damn baking.

Yup. By the time Jack is starting his undergrad, we will be moving into a one-bedroom walk-up in the burbs.. . . . .... <_<

I lived on the 12th floor of the dorms and the elevators were very intermittant. Was 107 degrees the weekend I moved in.... No elevators

Hello my psilies,

I've missed you all a lot. I actually had the pleasure of having a daughter all week (without the labor and very well behaved). Tony couldn't have been happier. Yesterday we brought him to school and thank God he has a single and doesn't have t deal with the roommate from hell. It's so different this year because he has a great set of friends and they all live in either the same suite or nearby.

Things have been up and down for Clark and I. He never heard about the job and also was rejected from URI (big surprise to us). My lymphocytes have almost doubled and I'm feeling like hell (that's why I haven't been online). But enough whining. Just wanted to let you know how much I miss and treasure you all.

Love,

Loey wub.gifwub.gifwub.gif

Haven't heard how the move went? Are you sprawled in a stairwell under a dresser whilst college students climb over you on thier way to a party?

This is what they are doing at my kids school! J actually didn't go because he wanted to play soccer in the gym. He said 8 kids were hospitalized with alcohol poisoning.

Whoa.. . ..... . .were I a new eighteen year-old alumnus there, I'd be all over that gathering (and believe that I was, twenty-some years ago. .. ..)... as a mom, I would be thanking the fates that my kid wasn't there.

Funny,, , ,,,same person, completely different reaction to a situation.

We moved Sophie into her tiny dorm room on Saturday. It was 90 F here, with a blistering sun. All of the boxes and furniture were slipping from my sweat-soaked hands and arms....down stairs, off the dolley, onto my feet.... ..

Gawd, I needed manna's in-laws there.. .. ....they tend to deposit junk, but I think they move boxes, correct?

She went to a frosh party that night, and a musical the next evening, and a big gathering at the Olympic-sized campus pool the next night, where everybody was given a blow-up floaty mattress and they all lay in the water, floating around and watching a movie that was being shown on the huge overhead screen....

It all sounds like such a drag.

I cannot imagine why I have NOT heard from her since Sunday morning.

Isn't awful the things they expect those college kids like J & Sophie to do? Swimming parties, beach volleyball tournies, wall climbing, mt biking, movies, etc. Poor things have no time or energy for classes & homework.

Hi My Dear Psillies

Hope you are all doing well and not affected by our never ending weather conditions. I wanted to touch base because I might be offline (againsad.gif) for a while.

On Tuesday they are going in to remove and biopsy a small mass in my left frontal sinus cavity (cause of my migraines over the past 5 months). I also tested positive for ANA and my rheumatologist thinks it's Lupus. Then my PCP called and said to not drink alcohol or take tylenol because my liver count was abnormal ( that word makes me think of young frankenstein and abbynormal then I start thinking of the dance number and that makes me laugh). Nothing's going to keep me from laughing!

We're going to Clark's cousin's for the weekend and I wish I missed the no alcohol call until after we returned. I am getting to the point where I'm finding all of my health issues amusing and at some point disability mad.gif has to cave laugh.gif.

The best news is that my celiac has vastly healed and I think 99% of it has to do with all of you!!!

I'll probably be online before Tuesday but I wanted to 'splain my disappearance in case I don't get a chance.

Love you all,

Loey wub.gifwub.gifwub.gif

Seriously, stay well Lo!

Now really, if they took the rocks out of our brains, what would we do with all that empty space?

You guys are depressing me! I don't want to lose my babies!!!!

Ahhhhhh......reminding me of that unique smell of a guy's dorm room.....

The toilets... Oh gosh, the toilets!!! I would go back to my floor of the dorms just to use the bathroom. Nor would I step foot in their showers!! Ummmm, wait.... No mom, I didn't have any reason to use their showers...

I just watched the documentary 'Forks Over Knives' It might be something interesting for you to check out. There's a ton of scientific research about it.... Want you better!!!!!!!!!

In J's dorm, each room of 2 boys has a bathroom. It is professionally cleaned hosed out every 2 weeks. There is a drain in the middle of the floor!

J chose these cute silver with glass shelves to put in the bathroom. I imagined them putting the roll of TP,stacked neatly on one shelf, one kids extra shampoo, etc on a shelf, the others on the other. They took the whole pack of TP & laid it on a shelf. They had swim trunks and soccer socks drying on the other shelves.

Looking for help sourcing gluten-free products that do not contain potato or corn derived ingredients. I have other autoimmune conditions (Psoriatic Arthritis and Sjogrens) so I’m looking for prepared foods as I have fatigue and cannot devote a lot of time to baking my own treats.

I am so sorry you're going through this. It's completely understandable to feel frustrated, stressed, and disregarded after such a long and difficult health journey. It's exhausting to constantly advocate for yourself, especially when you're dealing with so many symptoms and positive diagnoses like SIBO, while still feeling unwell. The fact that you have been diligently following the diet without relief is a clear sign that something else is going on, and your doctors should be investigating other causes or complications, not dismissing your very real suffering.

It is just so sad that health care in the United States has come to this.  Health insurance should be available to everyone, not just the healthy or the rich.  My heart goes out to you.  I would not hesitate to have the test and pay for it myself.  My big concern would be how you could keep the results truly private.  I am sure that ultimately, you could not.  A.I. is getting more and more pervasive, and all data is available somewhere.  I don't know if you could give a fake name, or pay for your test with cash.  I certainly would not disclose any positive results on a private insurance application.  As I understand it, for an official diagnosis, an MD needs to review your labs and make the call.  If you end up in the ER, or some other situation, just request a gluten free diet, and say it is because you feel better when you don't eat gluten.      Hang in there, though.  Medicare is not that far away for you, and it will remove a lot of stress from your health care concerns.  You will even be able to "come out of the closet" about being Celiac!

Yes, I've posted a few times about two companies: Request a Test and Ulta Labs. Also, pretty much we can all request any test we want (with the possible exception of the N protein Covid test and I'm sure a couple of others) with Lab Corp (or Pixel by Lab Corp) and Quest. I much prefer Lab Corp for their professionalism, ease of service and having it together administratively, at least in DC. And just so you know, Request a Test uses Lab Corp and Quest anyway, while Ulta Labs uses only Quest. Ulta Labs is cheaper than Request a Test, but I am tired of dealing with Quest, so I don't use them so much.

PS - I think you meant this site, but I don't believe it has been updated in years: http://glutenfreedrugs.com/ so it is best to use: You can search this site for prescriptions medications, but will need to know the manufacturer/maker if there is more than one, especially if you use a generic version of the medication: To see the ingredients you will need to click on the correct version of the medication and maker in the results, then scroll down to "Ingredients and Appearance" and click it, and then look at "Inactive Ingredients," as any gluten ingredients would likely appear there, rather than in the Active Ingredients area. https://dailymed.nlm.nih.gov/dailymed/
