Is it me ...or have the "go to last unread" buttons disappeared?

Not just you. It's also showing me that I've read a whole bunch of threads I haven't looked at yet (all of the black folders are faded). Weird.

Lisa Mentor

Thanks Mango.

They most certainly are behaving strangely. Guess Scott needs new ink.

Things seem normal to me. It could be sensitive to the browser you use. I use Mozilla Firefox 2.0.0.7.

jerseyangel Proficient

I'm having the same problem, Lisa.

psawyer Proficient

I just came back, and of three pages of threads shown by "View New Posts" there seem to be nine that don't have the button, even though the time of the last post is this morning and I haven't been here since yesterday.

Michi8 Contributor

For me, the only folders that are showing up as unread are the hot topics. Everything else has been greyed out, whether I've read them or not.

It is showing up this way in both Safari and Firefox.

Having the same problem here- greyed out folders, even though I haven't read the new posts. I use Firefox.

My "go to last unread" buttons are also missing, both at home and at work. We use MS Internet Explorer and neither home nor work has had any kind of an upgrade lately.

'Tis a bit annoying. I relied heavily on the "last unread" button.

I'm having the same problem here - both at home and at work, starting on Friday.

All that . . .

and it says my last visit was on Friday. Sorry to say, I have no life and have been on many times since then. ;)

psawyer Proficient

My last visit is shown as October 11 (Thursday) at 10:45 pm EDT. I have been and gone many, many times since, using two different computers for access. Sometimes it has lagged, but if I switched to the other computer it always caught up. I just reconnected from my laptop; my previous use was about 2 hours ago on the desktop. In the past it would say my last activity was when I last clicked from the other machine. It is still stuck on Thursday night. 10:45 is probably accurate as the last time I was online that evening.

FWIW. :(

Same here I wondered what was going on.

2Boys4Me Enthusiast

Huh. When I clicked on "view new posts" this time to see if there had been any more responses to this topic, I couldn't see it. (It's possible my glasses need cleaning ;) ) Then when I clicked on the sub-forum Board/forum technical help all the topics in there had the "view last unread" tab on them.

I'm confused.

I'm having the same problems Lisa, I use IE.

jnclelland Contributor

Same here. Here's my best guess: it looks like I *do* have the button for threads that I've looked at previously, but not for any others. So maybe someone decided that we don't need that button if we've never looked at the thread before? Still, I'd rather have them back.

Hi Everyone,

I did upgrade on Friday, and there are some issues with the new version. The Mark Read posts should not be fixed...let me know if it isn't. Also, the rest should be fixed shortly...sorry!

Take care,

Scott

Thanks Scott. The "last unread" buttons are back. Lisa is happy!

I still don't have the "view last unread" buttons on the "view new posts" page. I guess some of you have it back (Momma Goose and jerseyangel)? Or should I only be able to "view last unread" from the topic category? I do have that ability. I just like the "view new posts" to catch up quickly.

Linda,

I do have the 'last unread' buttons on the 'view new post' page back. They appeared about 2 days or so ago. I know Scott upgraded the board over last weekend.

I don't know why you still can't see them--maybe the upgrade isn't complete? I wish I knew more about how this all works!

If it keeps up, you could email Scott.

I still don't have the last unread buttons, and it says the last time I visitied was the 12th. I have been here several times. It is driving me nuts!!

Is it me ...or have the "go to last unread" buttons disappeared?

This is an interesting question to me.

I find this board to be very un-user friendly because I can't tell which posts I've read and which I haven't. I always click on View New Posts because that helps me narrow it down, but then I click on a topic that I think I've read and maybe have posted to, I have to scroll through all the posts to see if I've read them and guess which ones are new. Sometimes I jump to the last message and work my way backwards. When there are pages and pages of posts, it takes a long time.

This posting indicates that there is a second way to narrow down my search? That there is a button I can push that will take me to the postings within a topic that I haven't seen yet?

I can't find a button that says "go to last unread." All I see is the "Last post by" button.

That would be wonderful and I wouldn't find the functionality of this board so user-challenging.

Michi8 Contributor

I have the "View New Posts" link, and it will take me to new posts, however it's now going on 15 pages and growing everyday! As well, the board is showing that I've read messages at first, but then revert to unread regardless of whether there have been new posts or not. Seems there's still some bugs to work out!

@Scott Adams That's actually exactly what I ended up asking for— vodka tonic with Titos.  I saw on their website that Tito's is certified gluten-free (maybe many of the clear vodkas are, I don't know, I just happened to look up Tito's in advance). I should have actually specified the 'splash' though, because I think with the amount of tonic she put in there, it did still end up fairly sweet.  Anyway, I think I've almost got this drink order down!

Be interesting to see the effects of dairy reintroduction with gluten. As well as milk protein sensitivity in and of itself the casein part particularly has been shown to mimic gluten in about 50% of celiacs. Keep us posted!

She has been dairy free for six years, so she’d already been dairy free for two years at her last testing and was dairy free for the entire gluten challenge this year as well (that had positive results). However, now that we’re doing another biopsy in six weeks, we decided to do everything we can to try to “see” the effects, so we decided this past week to add back in dairy temporarily for breakfast (milk and cereal combo like you said).

Hi Christiana, Many thanks for your response.  Interestingly, I too cannot eat wheat in France without feeling effects (much less than in the US, but won't indulge nonetheless).  I also understand children are screened for celiac in Italy prior to starting their education. Wise idea as it seems my grandson has the beginning symptoms (several celiacs in his dad's family), but parents continue to think he's just being difficult.  Argh.  There's a test I took that diagnosed gluten sensitivity in 2014 via Entero Labs, and am planning on having done again.  Truth be told, I'm hoping it's the bromine/additives/preservatives as I miss breads and pastas terribly when home here in the states!  Be well and here's to our guts healing ❤️

Lol that’s so true! Hope you get clarity, it’s tough when there’s doubt. There’s so much known about celiac disease with all the scientific research that’s been done so far yet practically and clinically there’s also so much unknown, still. Out of curiosity what’s her dairy consumption like? Even compared to early years to now? Has that changed? Calcium is dependent in the mechanism of antigen presenting cells in the gut. High calcium foods with gluten grains can initiate inflammation greater.  This is why breakfast cereals and milk combo long term can be a ticking time bomb for genetically susceptible celiacs (not a scientific statement by any means but my current personal opinion based on reasoning at present). Milk and wheat are the top culprits for food sensitivity. Especially in childhood. There are also patient cases of antibodies normalising in celiac children who had milk protein intolerance/ delayed type allergy. Some asymptomatic. There were a couple of cases of suspected celiacs that turned out to have milk protein intolerance that normalised antibodies on a gluten containing diet. Then there were others that only normalised antibodies once gluten and milk was eliminated. Milk kept the antibodies positive. Celiac disease is complicated to say the least.
