Okay, so I haven't logged on here since YESTERDAY, so I didn't know the latest talk, but I also wanted to test out a couple of things...

Before I jumped into the shower I saw my little mix of New Car Smell and whatevertheheck I mixed it with sitting there. I tapped a little bit out and stuck my finger in a little water then used it to swirl around in the lid...then onto my checks. Looked VERY NICE!!!!

So after my shower, I decided I want to try the "primer" wet...so I took my finishing powder and a little sponge that I bought from True Minerals, and applied it wet. LOOKED GREAT. I dusted a little bit more all over then put on my foundation (dry). It looked SOOOO good--all day--even through a massage, lol.

I also tried spring pink again...I am determined to like EVERYTHING I buy at EM, lol. I put on the spring pink and some silver lip gloss over that, then a very sheer-almost-clear pink gloss over that. Looked very nice. I think next time I'll start with the silver, then the spring pink, then a clear gloss.

Kassandra,

Funny about the EVOO...I've used it on my legs before (coconut oil too), but never thought about my face. It can't take very much... I like the idea of natural stuff--I currently use ProActive, and that stuff HAS to have industrial strength chemicals in it, lol.

Em,

Ooooh, your order is really fun!!

Suddenly New Car Smell is sounding very appealing

...

Donna, you have practically purchased every item on the EM website

You should get our cult's top buyer honors or something!

...

Have you tried Soft Touch also?

 I haven't QUITE purchased EVERYTHING....YET. :P

Soft Touch is in the order that's on it's way...I'm excited to try it.

I see...... TOM!

time to implement our super top secret plot.

   <----- kidnapper masks

Dang sorry I wasn't here...did he get away? :P

Here's what I ordered. If any of you have these and have any opinions let me know.

Thank You --I didn't like this at first, but actually do a lot now, lol

Hot Chocolate--on it's way to me now

Wild Flowers---same

Pots and Pans--I like this a lot...It's a nice light pink

Emerald Eyeliner~~ future order :P

Ping Pong--on it's way

Starry Eyed--LOVE THIS!!!

To Do List--Like this too

Mystic Night--I love this too, but think I like Starry Eyed a bit better

Floating Feathers--on it's way

concealer: Pick Me Up Pink -- Hum, I can't remember if this is on it's way, lol...it's been in my cart a few times, but don't know if it made the cut this time.

blush or face color: Veranda -- on it's way

I put on Corner Office wet this morning, and it's killer!

...

My husband just told me that I look radiant, not like when I would wear Cover Girl crap and I looked like it was painted on...he thinks this looks very natual and pretty...that made me feel great, because he usually hates when I wear foundation!

I tried my "primer" that way today and my blush, now I want to experiment with the eyecolors. Yay on hubby's comments!!!!

I have a basket full of stuff, but I would love to hear your opinions before I order it. :P

Pink Pajamas --on it's way

Mystic Night --Like this a lot

Chamomile --on it's way

Smokey Eyeliner --LOVE IT!!

Good China --LOVE IT, good base

Black Eye Liner --very nice

Snowflakes --pretty

Pressed Olive --LOVE THIS

On the Phone --hum, can't remember if I have this and my spreadsheet is on the couch and I'm too lazy to go there :P

In the Garden --very nice

DVR Saturday --I like this a lot...it looks dark in the jar, but it goes on much lighter

Cool-Multi-Tasking Neutral Intensive --I like this, but have been using matte

Finishing Powder:

Tinted Silk Dust -- I think I have this coming, lol

I just don't seem to get the coverage that the rest of you do. Do you mix the powders and how do you tap them out?

Hi Sarah...well, yeah, it can take some practice. You might want to try some different brushes...which ones do you have? You can also put on several thin layers.

I don't mix my foundation powders...I use a margarine lid and I tap a little out onto the lid, then swirl my brush around in it...since I don't have a hard sided container I just sort of tap the brush handle with my other hand, so any loose minerals fall back onto the margarine lid. I start with the area of my face that needs the most coverage, and I swirl and swirl it into my skin in little circular movements. I repeat that process 2 or 3 more times if necessary. It also helps to use a concealor for the bad spots...if you don't want to buy a concealor, I've just used my foundation before and that works too...I use a small brush and just dab some foundation on the spots.

Yeah, Tom escaped. We'll have to get him next time..... B)

Mango,

Have you tried aloe vera gel on your face for scars? I keep reading about it's amazing-ness! You've probably tried, but just a thought

I haven't! I looked it up on acne.org after you posted this and people over there rave about it. So, of course I went and bought some! :D I sprung for the more expensive Aubrey Organics version, b/c some of the other brands add all sorts of crap to it. Turns out natural aloe vera isn't bright green. It's actually clear

I'm going to slather it all over my face tonight along with some lavender oil, emu oil (little green guy - but it works) perhaps a bit of tea tree...oh and that will be after the acv/green tea toner. Hopefully I will wake up radiant with perfectly scarless skin ;) LOL

I love Emu Oil! A little goes a long way, though. ;)

let me know how that goes.

Just a quick poop-in from my sick bed. Back later when my head isn't on the verge of exploding.

I am soooooooooooooo bored.

Oh, Mango wanted me to report on the......what kind of makeup did I buy? Pure Luxe? I can't even remember.

Report coming later. ;)

Yay! You'll have to let me know! I'm very happy for you!!

That's funny you thought aloe vera was green. LOL! We used to have an aloe vera plant for sunburns (I live in LA, get burnt ALL THE TIME!!) so I knew it was clear.;)

Susie! Yes, we need your report! :D

I will report the results soon! :D

I'm an everyday minerals newbie, persuaded by this thread! So how do you use the foundations? I've never used powdered make-up and don't want to appear too made-up! I got the sample pack and then a mini of a bunch of eye shadow. Thanks for any advice!!

Terri

Hi Terri ~ a little bit goes a long way. There is a link on their page that really helped me a lot. I really love this make up more and more every day. The first time I used it, I wasn't so sure! There are some real make-up queens on here that are much more knowledgeable than me.

I am still sitting with my cart unordered right now. <_<

I also wanted to link to another post that is on the Publicity Board. Could all of you vote?

<<Today on Martha Stewart, she had seven employees that had entered a contest for the next big idea for the future of Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia. One of the employees cannot eat gluten and has suggested a magazine for people with allergies and celiac disease. Martha couldn't decide which idea to pick, so everyone can vote online to choose the next big idea. Please vote - the link is below, and you can read the ideas, then scroll to the bottom for the vote. The magazine idea for people with allergies is not getting many votes - you have until February 7th!>>

Okay, today's experiment...also put my concealor on with a damp sponge. First I put on the finishing powder with the sponge, then the concealor on my spots and dark circles, then a light dusting of the finishing powder, then foundation. (Okay, so ignore my comment below about LAYERS, lol...I was talking ONLY foundation) :P

I'm loving Oasis...didn't think I would like that at first but wore it today even though I was wearing RED and it still looked good. I'm wondering now how it'd look at a light layer over one of my blush colors... my next experiment.

Also, I read in one of my books last night a tip about curling eyelashes...I usually just put the curler right at the lash line, count to 20 then put my mascara on. The book said to do the first curl close to the lashes, but to curl again a littler farther up the lashes, and even further up again if you can. I only did it twice, but it did seem to make my lashes a bit more visable.

Terri, yes, they have a great explanation on the EM website. Basically you tap a little of the minerals out into the cap (but since the samples are so small, I use a margerine lid), swirl your brush around in them, tap the excess minerals off the brush, then buff the brush onto your face in little circular motions. It's usually best to start with just a little bit of the minerals and keep adding layers until you achieve the coverage you want. I tend to not put a lot of layers on, but instead use a little bit of the foundation or a concealer and dab it on any of my bad spots, then just put a couple of light layers of the foundation on. The thing you DON'T want to forget is to tap off the excess on your brush before putting the brush on your face...if you don't it'll look like you got hit with a powder puff on that spot, lol...you can still blend that out, but it takes a little work, lol.

There are some real make-up queens on here that are much more knowledgeable than me.

 I have to laugh at this...I've definitely become a queen since starting to use this makeup, lol. Before that, not so much. :P

Thanks for the link Cheri...I'll go vote tomorrow from work...I have a slow dial-up connection at home, but have a fast T1 connection at work, so it'll be MUCH easier tomorrow, lol.

Report coming later. ;)

Yes, I definitely want to hear about it...I've got about 20 samples in my cart over there (and have had since you mentioned it last, lol). :P

Surprising favorite color of the weekend:

Tea Time!

I love this!

It looks hideous in the jar, and on the online color swatch (I have no idea why I bought it). But it's great! It adds just a touch of color and...I dunno... depth(?) to my face. It's sort of like BE's warmth, but "cooler," if that makes sense.

Here's a swatch of Tea Time vs. Warmth (Tea Time is on the left)...you can see Warmth is a bit darker.

Oh! And I love aloe vera on my face. Thanks Kassandra! I put aloe along with Emu oil and lavender oil on my face last night and woke up with very...calm and smooth skin :D . It's great as a foundation primer too.

YAY! I'm glad you liked it! I didn't get to try it last night because I didn't feel well, but I will definitely try it today after the gym!

Ok, I have turned into one of "those" who wears make-up to the gym!:P I always used to see women there all made up and thought they were so stupid! But, with EM I totally get it! I feel so pretty!

I can't wait to order my eyeshadows, that's something I need to learn to experiment with.

And, I went to Trader Joe's yesterday after I had showered and put my EM on, and oh my! Almost every guy was TOTALLY staring at me! Very nice! :D It's amazing that even when I feel like crap, I don't look like it! Lol!

Donna, LOVE your new avatar!

Thanks for this! The older I get, the less visable my lashes are...add to that I can't use the heavy-duty mascaras I used to <_<

I'm gonna try it :D

Love the tip about the eyelashes. And the Aloe gel. They sound great!

I fiiiiinally tried Text Message - LOVE IT! It looked really dark in the jar, but is beautiful on and stays looking nice all day.

I tried a little trick for the eyeshadows - I put matte foundation on under it instead of the original glo or semi-matte I usually use and it really did make it last a lot longer. I still did have oily looking lids after 7 hours, though. I need a tried and true method for fixing this problem.

I've got to go back and read several pages, I'm sure there is a lot to catch up on still!

Donna your new avatar is really nice!

I don't remember if I posted about this but I did try the butterfly eyes. It looks really nice but takes some practice. Also I tried to take pictures, but that did not work out at all, lol!

I have several things in my cart at Monave (so many things to try there) and of course a cart full at EM just waiting for that new special.

Did anyone order anything from any other mineral makeup companies recently?

You guys....help! LOL. I'm trying to avoid football for a while so I'm make-up shopping instead. My cart is growing! I've just added Theme Park blush and Pink Pajamas eye shadow. I really want to wait to order though until they come out with the new website. I have a feeling great things are going to be revealed when that comes out.

*Must get off computer* :o:rolleyes:

It might take a while, they seem to be very slow in introducing things they say are 'coming soon'.

I know there is a mascara in the works and they have to get more brushes in...they don't even have an eye liner brush up at all now. That's almost tragic!

I say order now and order later, if you can afford it. :D

I'm finding that dusting my eyelids with finishing powder is working to cut down the oil there...working really well for me.

Thanks!

Nope, haven't actually ordered anything from any other companies YET, lol.

I tried the wet foundation brush idea yesterday, but didn't have enough of the sun kissed fair foundation left, so used multi-tasking. I felt like I had too much foundation on--more than I like. I might like it better with the lighter color foundation. It seemed like I was using a lot more foundation than usual that way as well.

I'm not needing to cover a lot of blemishes...just want a smooth look without the fine lines if possible. I think the answer may lay with moisture though.

It's funny because if the brush isn't wet enough, the foundation goes on really heavy, and if it's too wet, the make-up just sort of dissolves and diminishes on your skin.

Maybe try pure aloe as a primer? I've been doing that (for two days lol) and it fills in my pores really nicely.

Mango04 Enthusiast

Oh- and I'm loving lavender oil on my face. It is GREAT! Relaxing too. :)

No, I've not been diagnosed as celiac.  Despite Entero Labs being relocated to Switzerland/Greece, I'll be doing another test. After eating wheat products in Greece for 4 weeks, there wasn't any reaction.  However, avoiding it here in the states.   Thanks everyone for your responses.

Thank you @JulieRe so much for sharing this extra information. I'm so glad to hear you're feeling better and I hope it keeps moving in that direction. I feel I'm having so many lightbulb moments on this forum just interacting with others who have this condition. I also was diagnosed with gastric reflux maybe about 10 years ago. I was prescribed ranitidine for it several years back, which was working to reduce my gastric reflux symptoms but then the FDA took ranitidine off the shelves so I stopped taking it. I had a lot of ups and downs healthwise in and around that time (I suddenly gained 20 pounds, blood pressure went up, depression got worse, and I was diagnosed with OSA). At the time I attributed my change in symptoms to me taking on a new stressful job and didn't think much else about it. They did give me a replacement gastric reflux drug since ranitidine was off the shelves, but when I went on the CPAP for my OSA, the CPAP seemed to correct the gastric reflux problem so I haven't been on any gastric reflux drug treatment for years although I still do have to use a CPAP for my OSA. Anyway that's a long story but just to say… I always feel like I've had a sensitive stomach and had migraines my whole life (which I'm now attributing to having celiac and not knowing it) but I feel my health took a turn for much worse around 2019-2020 (and this decline started before I caught covid for the first time). So I am now wondering based on what you said, if that ranitidine i took could have contributed to the yeast overgrowth, and that the problem has just been worsening ever since. I have distinctly felt that I am dealing with something more than just stress and battling a more fundamental disease process here. I've basically been in and out of different doctor specialties for the past 5 years trying to figure out what's wrong with me. Finally being diagnosed with celiac one year ago, I thought I finally had THE answer but now as I'm still sick, I think it's one of a few answers and that maybe yeast overgrowth is another answer. For me as well, my vitamin deficiencies have persisted even after I went gluten-free (and my TTG antibody levels came down to measurably below the detectable limit on my last blood test). So this issue of not absorbing vitamins well is also something our cases have in common. I'm now working with a nutritionist and taking lots of vitamins and supplements to try and remedy that issue. I hope that you continue to see improvements in working with your naturopath on this. Keep us posted!
    • ElenaM
Hello everyone. I am Elena and am 38 years old. I suspect I have a gluten intolerance even if my celiac panel is ok. I have the following symptoms : facial flushing, Red dots not bumps în face, bloating abdominal distension, hair loss, depression anxiety even with meds and even bipolar. Fatigue extreme to the point of not being able to work. All of these after I eat gluten. Could I have non celiac gluten sensitivity? Thanks anyone else with these symptoms?
    • JulieRe
Hi Everyone,  I do appreciate your replies to my original post.   Here is where I am now in this journey.  I am currently seeing a Naturopath.  One thing I did not post before is that I take Esomeprazole for GERD.  My Naturopath believes that the decrease in the gastric acid has allowed the yeast to grow.    She has put me on some digestive enzymes.  She also put me on Zinc, Selenium, B 12, as she felt that I was not absorbing my vitamins. I am about 5 weeks into this treatment, and I am feeling better. I did not have any trouble taking the Fluconazole.
