This is definitely interesting, and another reason why people should supplement with Vitamin D, especially if you take certain meds.

I think you are using pellagra, which is caused by nutrient deficiencies, very broadly here, as many other diseases can also cause nutrient deficiencies, like celiac disease. I think it's more likely that some cases pellagra are caused by undiagnosed celiac disease.

Can't stop crying!
Scott Adams replied to Julie Fairchild's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
So there is a condition called non-celiac gluten sensitivity, which ~10x more people have than celiac disease, and unfortunately there isn't a test for it. You may want to try a gluten-free diet for a couple of months to see if it helps with your symptoms. -
Be careful Ore Ida
Scott Adams replied to Marissa221's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
As the article mentions, autolyzed yeast extract could contain trace amount of gluten if it is made from barley, however, since the Ore Ida product was labelled gluten-free I doubt this would be the case. -
Is Ka'Chava Gluten-Free?
Scott Adams commented on Jefferson Adams's article in Gluten-Free Foods & Beverages
They said they batch test every single batch...why isn't that credible? I can only assume they are looking forward to a certification at some point, which is likely whey they are going to the trouble of batch testing.- 22 comments

Be careful Ore Ida
Scott Adams replied to Marissa221's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Perhaps you are sensitive to another ingredient, for example MSG? Autolyzed yeast is typically a form of MSG, and is usually gluten-free. In this case it would be gluten-free since they have "gluten-free" on the label. -
It might be safer to change, however, normally skin contact with gluten won't affect most celiacs, but may affect those with DH or those who are super sensitive.

H pylori

Has your brother been tested for celiac disease, as up to 44% of 1st degree relatives also have it? -
Sharing a kitchen…
Scott Adams replied to Ashraq's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
This is always a tough question, and there is no easy answer. On one hand you don't want those who are not on gluten-free diets to be forced to also make huge lifestyle changes, but on the other hand you also don't want to get sick. I happen to co-exist in a mixed gluten/gluten-free household, and the only way I'm able to do this is because my wife has excellent... -
Independent Livings and Assisted Livings
Scott Adams replied to Nikki2777's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Thank you @Katerific, and this is what I've heard in past posts in our forum. As far as I know there are no regulations that require nursing homes to cater to special diets, but there should be. -
Is Ka'Chava Gluten-Free?
Scott Adams commented on Jefferson Adams's article in Gluten-Free Foods & Beverages
The company itself is testing for gluten in "every single batch of finished product," which is exactly what certified gluten-free companies must do. Your claim that this products isn't gluten-free must be supported by evidence, not conjecture or plain assumptions.- 22 comments

If you are super sensitive this doesn't sound safe enough to me. Have you contacted Bob's Red Mill, as they offer gluten-free buckwheat?

dairy in gluten free dough
Scott Adams replied to kenlove's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
It's good to see ongoing research still being done on gluten-free bread, as some things still have a ways to go. I've never had a great gluten-free croissant, but am still hoping! -
Lymph nodes
Scott Adams replied to Gary Hamilton's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Others have reported this symptom: https://www.celiac.com/search/?q=lymph nodes&quick=1 be sure to discuss it with your doctor, and high dose thiamine may help: -
Finally diagnosed
Scott Adams replied to Katerific's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
It's better a late diagnosis than to never have one, so now you can go gluten-free, and hopefully stay that way. Due to the fact that your mother has it as well put you at a high risk for it, and here is an article we published on this: Also, this may also be helpful: -
Waiting for results……
Scott Adams replied to Lisa Jo3's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
If you go gluten-free and get relief from your symptoms, then you likely have your answer. If they do schedule an endoscopy due to a positive blood test then you could start eating gluten again 2 weeks before that test, but it's also possible that you may have found your answer after going gluten-free, and you may not decide to do an endoscopy. -
Independent Livings and Assisted Livings
Scott Adams replied to Nikki2777's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
From what I've heard nursing facilities are pretty bad at providing gluten-free food to those who need it. -
H pylori
Scott Adams replied to Patricia Hubbard's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
No time wasted, and keep in mind that there is a condition called non-celiac gluten sensitivity, which ~10x more people have than celiac disease, yet there is no test for this yet. You could still have this, and if so, would need to go gluten-free. So you may want to try a gluten-free diet for a few months to see if it helps with your symptoms. -
