  1. She should consider a blood test for celiac disease. ~44% of first degree relatives of celiacs also have it.
  2. Celiac.com 03/24/2021 - If you're looking for an easy, nutritious soup that cooks quick and delivers on flavor, then this ham, bean and potato soup is just the ticket. This recipe offers a delightful combination of vegetables, chicken...
  3. Due to the fact that beer is fermented and filtered, even regular beer would be considered low gluten, although not necessarily gluten-free. We've done at least one article on this topic: So I'm not advising that you continue, however you likely want to avoid weizen beers, and go for clear ones. Also, there are beers in Germany that are rendered gluten...
  4. In case your doctor didn't mention this, you need to keep eating gluten daily until all tests for celiac disease are completed.
  5. I'm not aware of grain alcohols containing glyphosate, so you need to post a link to info that would back this up. Distillation effectively removes nearly all contaminants, including gluten. I'm sorry to hear you're having so many issues, but feel free to join our forum where others who've dealt with similar issues might be able to offer some advice...
  6. This is true, but you can certainly also easily find healthy foods, as we have many grocery stores and now restaurants that cater to more healthy eaters.
  7. Yes, I think that is the test.
  8. Celiac.com 03/23/2021 - We get a lot of questions here about what products may contain gluten. One question we've seen a lot recently is about Pedialyte. Specifically, is Pedialyte gluten-free and safe for people with celiac disease? ...
  9. Rice and corn are gluten-free, so it's your call how far you want to take your elimination diet. You may want to limit certain things for 2-3 weeks at a time and keep a food diary when you add them back. Given that it sounds like your symptoms are improving on the gluten-free diet, it probably makes sense not to add gluten back unless you want to get a blood...
  10. I think you mean 3 per day, and not 100...3x 100mg = 300mg, right?
  11. I believe that if they take the skin biopsy correct during a flare up, they may still be able to diagnose it correctly without you having to eat gluten, but I may be wrong about this. I do know that DH can only be properly diagnosed via a skin biopsy during a flare up. You're welcome...I'm glad the site has helped you and hope you stick around and let us...
  12. Eating sugar and processed flours/starches can cause SIBO (bacterial overgrowth) and other issues. Many gut problems can be helped by switching over to whole gluten-free grains and whole foods, and avoiding the processed "junk" foods, even if they are gluten-free.
  13. Buckwheat should be good, but get used to looking for "gluten-free" when you buy things like that, as grains can be cross-contaminated.
  14. It would be a bit odd for a GI doctor to diagnose you with celiac disease without some test results that backed this up, even though the fact that you mother has this makes you ~44% likely to also have it.
  15. I have issues with many of the claims made on their site...as I recall, and correct me if I am wrong, but that site claims celiac can't eat corn.
  16. Weight loss is a classic symptom of celiac disease:
  17. Can you post the ingredients here? Nearly all yogurts, except ones that add granola or cereals that contain gluten, are gluten-free.
  18. Also, do you include oats in your diet? About 10% of celiacs can't tolerate gluten-free oats.
  19. Just FYI, about 10% of celiacs (and probably people with gluten sensitivity) react to oat protein, even if the oats are pure and not contaminated with wheat. Most celiacs can eat pure oats, but not all.
  20. Celiac.com 03/22/2021 - Dysfunctional T cells play a major role in the immune evasion in cancer and chronic viral infection. Researchers have been looking for ways to trigger dysfunction in autoreactive T cells to create self-tolerance...
