Daughter waiting for appointment
Scott Adams replied to jjiillee's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Yes, she should be eating lots of gluten daily...4 slices of wheat bread would be ideal for the screenings. -
Contaminated cooking oils
Scott Adams replied to Jsingh's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Consider California olive oils, as they seem to be very pure, and as @RMJ mentioned, look for certified gluten-free ones. -
You’re already making significant strides toward healing, which is great to see. It's not uncommon to experience persistent or new symptoms during the early stages of a gluten-free diet, especially since full healing can take time and other underlying issues might still need addressing. Here are some thoughts and suggestions based on what you've shared: ...

Does the same issue happen if you eat a vegan yogurt, kimchee, pickles, etc? Those might be better ways for you to get your probiotics.

Yes, it will affect your life insurance rates for sure, and possibly your health insurance rates, at least in the future. I pay very high rates for life insurance in comparison to others I know who are my age, and my last policy was harder to obtain due to my diagnosis. Celiac Maybe a Possibility?
Scott Adams replied to More2Learn's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Possibly, but there used to be a movement within the celiac disease community to just tell restaurants that you have a deadly wheat/gluten allergy to, hopefully anyway, ensure that your meal is actually gluten-free. It breaks down each type of test, and what a positive results means in terms of the probability that you might have celiac disease. One test that always...

It breaks down each type of test, and what a positive results means in terms of the probability that you might have celiac disease. One test that always needs to be done is the IgA Levels/Deficiency Test (often called "Total IGA") because some...

Celiac Maybe a Possibility?
Scott Adams replied to More2Learn's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
The only issue with that approach, is that some restaurants may not want to serve you--if you say you get violently ill, or have a deadly allergy, etc.--remember, at least here in California, businesses can decline to serve you. -

Toddler Diagnosis?
Scott Adams replied to CatLady15's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Your son has two positive blood tests for celiac disease, plus a positive biopsy for it...why hasn't your doctor diagnosed him with celiac disease, which is the most likely diagnosis based on the test results you shared? The next step should be a gluten-free diet, which your doctor already recommended.
