  1. I eat Chapman's sugar free. It's very tasty, and gluten free Available only in Canada though I think.
  2. could be electrolyte imbalance. This is common with dietary changes and weight loss. Make sure you are well hydrated, and get enough salt (if you're not eating manufactured foods anymore, that's a big reduction in sodium in the diet!). Potassium and magnesium rich foods can help with the leg cramps. Try half an avocado, a cup of clear chicken broth (gluten...
  3. I live with my Mum. She doesn't *have* to be gluten free, but she is mostly so that I don't get sick. She sometimes buys herself bread, but not often. And I do all the baking anyhow, so all the baking supplies are in MY cupboards, in MY kitchen, which is entirely gluten free
  4. When I drove home from North Carolina to Toronto last year, I just stuffed a cooler and my backpack with easy to eat while driving snack foods. Trail mix (check the labels! for some reason lots of packaged nuts and mixes will contain wheat!), hard-boiled eggs, packaged sliced meats, cheese crackers, Doctor's CarbRite bars, or lara bars, canned tuna etc...

    ARCHIVED Glutened

I usually have a painful reaction within about 30 minutes and the after-effects can last for days.
  6. Yep, pretty much all the same as the above. Although I didn't have much difficulty with the sedative hangover. I got on a plane later that same day! I had a bit of a sort throat for a couple of days, but that was about it, it didn't affect my swallowing, it was just kind of scratchy.
  7. and availability of ingredients would differ perhaps in different parts of the world as well.
  8. I don't use any of their cosmetics, but I do have some pink grapefruit body wash, and soaps, and I have had no reaction.
  9. I think you just have to shop around really. It all depends on if you also have any other food sensitivities like dairy, or soy intolerance. I use an organic whey protein mix, that is unflavoured so I can flavour it as my tastebuds desire. Lately I've been making pumpkin smoothies If you google "gluten free protein mix" I'm sure you'll find a bunch...
  10. Campbell's has a gluten free tomato with basil and oregano soup in Canada now, so I imagine they'd have it in the US as well. Would that work in your recipe? Here's the list of their gluten free soups Open Original Shared Link
  11. Is Haagen Dazs gluten free? I haven't eaten it in years, because it's way too much sugar for me, but I thought it wasn't gluten free, because possible cross contamination?

    ARCHIVED Fibromyalgia

I was dx'd with fibro in 1993, after suffering without a diagnosis since 1988. I wish I had something positive to say about it, but for me at least, it's only got worse with age. I used to have periods of tolerable activity, when I could go out and do stuff with minimal (not ever none!) painful affect, but lately, it's been difficult to even stand up and...
  13. popcorn is fairly high in carbohydrate, that could most certainly cause a spike in blood sugars, and then crash while you sleep. I haven't eaten any since 2008. Nor whole corn except one bite last summer that made me immediately feel ill. A better bedtime snack would be something higher in fat, and slower to digest. Cheese and a pickle or some olives...
  14. I don't think that Mary Kay lipsticks are gluten free. Neither are Avon's as far as I know. I emailed them, and they said no.
  15. tee hee hee hee anabananakins, I have much the same reaction to high carb foods, even fruits like apples; I got a sugar rush last time I ate a whole apple! I'm not diabetic, nor hypoglycemic, but if I eat anything high carb and no fibre, I feel quite ill! I avoid sugar like the plague, rarely eat prepared gluten free breads, but I have been experimenting...
  16. 2 pounds is not very likely added body fat, and more likely water retention. Drink more water. Weight will also fluctuate madly for women during the menstrual cycle. Weight gain anywhere from 2 to 10 pounds is not unheard of. Frustrating, but not much we can do about it. I'd suggest that you're not eating enough, and not regularly enough for your...
  17. I started on the Atkins diet, and that's how I found out I have Celiac disease! The early phases totally eliminate all grains from the diet, and I felt so good after the initial withdrawl symptoms (about 4 or 5 days) that I figured something was up! "The New Atkins For a New You" book was released last spring, and it's really easy to follow the plan...
  18. applesauce will add quite a lot to the sugar content to the end product, so if you're controlling how much sugar is in your diet, you may not want to try this. Though I do remember my babysitter when I was a kid used applesauce in cake recipes, and they were very moist. Personally, I'm afraid of sugars, but not fat, so I'll use oil any day! Skylark...
  19. I've used the coconut flour recipe in Bruce Fife's Cooking With Coconut Flour book. I have made strawberry rhubarb pie, and had to roll out the pastry for the top, and I've also made pumpkin pie and just pressed the dough into the pie plate (I use glass pie plates, not metal!). Rolling it out and getting it into the pan or over the top of the pie was tricky...
  20. I have read otherwise. I would say then to check with each restaurant, because I've seen people right here in these forums say they've been glutened by McDonald's fries. I don't eat fast food, so I don't generally worry about it myself.
  21. While I wouldn't necessarily recommend it, my friend up the street from me *did* make a gluten free bread for me for ritual in her non-gluten free bread machine. Both of her parents work in food preparation/manufacturing, in the QA dept. so they inspected her work before she started mixing. She also suffers from severe anaphalaxis (sp?), with a lot of things...
  22. I take 1900 IU per day, (when I remember!) with my multi & supplement combined. I have noticed no difference with any of my "symptoms" since I started taking them. I don't know if my vit levels were tested at my recent annual check-up or not. I forgot to ask. I have a new doctor, and she always rushes me and I forget stuff.
  23. I will second Britgirl's suggestion for the Paleo and/or Primal diet! Many of the online blogs and printed cookbooks will give you lots of ideas for meal plans. Atkins is another good one for meal plans and whatnot. Most of the plan is grain free, up until Life Time Maintenance, and a lot of people never do add grains back in. If you absolutely...
  24. my acid reflux went away entirely after going gluten free!
  25. Open Original Shared Link whenever she posts a recipe, she will note if it is also dairy free, vegan, etc.
