The possibilities are endless! I never take samples because I don't known the ingredients and/or because who knows what cookie crumb filled fingers touched the sample next to it. No matter how careful we are at home, someone may have messed up. Especially if this is new to your family. If you like Caramel apples, Kraft caramels are good last I checked...

ARCHIVED Truncated Ingredients Lists
kareng replied to WhenDee's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Other countries may have different laws and customs on packaging. It appears, from your info, that the laws in the Middle East are not pro- consumer. Many countries place a greater priority on the safety and growth of industry then the " little people's" health and safety. -
gluten-free or not...if the microwave is used by lots of people who don't always ( or never) clean it, cover your food well. A paper plate or 2 on the bottom and paper towels or a paper plate on top. Some plastic wrap isn't good in the microwave.

ARCHIVED Liquid Diet Before Colonscopy

And to be a bit gross...what little that comes out the next morning on your ride to the hospital, will be more watery than poopy. Good luck. Bring a pillow, a light blanket ( anesthesia can make you feel cold) ,some soft music & a Teddy bear to sleep on the way home. Have some chicken & rice ready to heat up at home. Also, bring a big bottle... -

You have someone to drive you, right? Here they don't let you in until they have actually seen your ride home. Anyway...I have 2 words for the ride there.... Maxi pads. You will mostly be emptied out but might have a few small dribbles. Hub was still peEing from all his Gatorade and water. -
ARCHIVED Liquid Diet Before Colonscopy
kareng replied to cahill's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
You, my friend, get your butt, literally, to the GI for this procedure. My hub just had it after putting it off 1 1/2 years. He had a golf ball sized polyp that the pathologist said was months away from being cancerous. I read the report, and that is true. No family history of colon cancer. For me, I was miserable but I hadn't gone gluten-free yet.... -

Actually, there sort of is... The top right corner of a post is a plus & a minus button. These give you a " reputation". Don' t use the minus unless the poster is bad. I'll "plus" you so you can see. -

If the bowl prep has stuff you can't have, why not ask for a different one? Like I said, around here, the bowl prep isn't anything special. It's stuff you get at the drug store. -

What about Welch's white grape juice? says no added sugar. Open Original Shared Link Juicy Juice apple juice is just apple juice with perservative of vitamin C & malic acid. Might find some juices at the "health foods section" The bowl prep around here is 4 Ducolax then 64 oz of Gatorade with Metamucil type stuff mixed in. You could do... -

Ok. You are a teenager, right? If you have to see this girl because your mom is visiting her mom, ok. But if she suggests doing things that don't involve the moms, I would blow her off! Say no or don't feel like it or got homework. Tell your mom that you are having problems with her. Does she do this in front of her mom? Your mom? Go for some...

Yout friend is a bully. " make you eat it". Who does that? If it was as simple as not liking coucous, who says to a guest that? As for the part about gluten-free food not being real food, sorry she doesn't eat - chili, BBQ chicken, potatoes in various formations, salad, cheese, enchiladas, etc. She is missing out!

The stuff that's orangey- red? Chili, vinegar, garlic, etc? Probably gluten-free but maybe it's too hot for your tummy right now? -

Loey! Hope you are feeling better! You must tell Tony. My boys would be horrified if they weren't told right away. When a good friend had colon cancer, J was about 4 or 5 and said to tell him the truth. He wanted to be prepared and have time to understand. M is the same way. Don't think Tony hasn't noticed you are sick when he is home. I thought... -

Movie Theatre Popcorn?
kareng replied to anna34's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I have done ok with it. We never get the "butter flavored topping". I know with any popcorn that I can't eat too much. Not a gluten thing. Not sure what. Maybe the hulls are scratchy. -
Happy you put the old goat out to pasture! Keep the gate closed! No matter how sad his little goaty eyes look at you.

I make sure there are no annoying scone or bagel crumbs and check the microwave "ceiling". Sometimes stuff explodes.Fortunately, most of the stuff that explodes at my house is gluten-free (Chili beans usually) If you are worried there is something in the air, cover your food or leave the door open to air it out.

Where are the adult chaperones during this meaness and illness? Haven't your parents explained it to them? I chaperone groups of teens and I want and need to know what illnesses and special issues they have. I keep an eye on them to make sure they are OK, taking meds, eating, whatever they need. -
ARCHIVED Need Help
kareng replied to confusedwife's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Thank you , Peter! I will memorize this and sleep with it under my pillow. Also, many big grocery chains, like HyVee here in the midwest, have lists on-line of the store brand products that are gluten-free. -
Wow! What time should we all be there?

ARCHIVED Need Help
kareng replied to confusedwife's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
There are several large companies that will declare any gluten ingredient in the ingredient list. I remember Kraft & ConAgra. They make a lot of of the food at the grocery. It will say in small letters ConAgra but be a different brand. There was a list here a few weeks ago, if I find it I'll post it.
