  1. I would stay home and have a nice relaxing day. Maybe work on the yard and grill steaks. Oh wait! That is what I'm doing! I have gotten tired of the last 18 years having to have every holiday at my house. Even before my gluten-free issue. We could go to my sister's and I could bring my own food. I don't mind. Christmas & Thanksgiving the...
  2. I got some called EVOL (love spelled backwards) at WF. Not low cal but I love the bean enchilada bowl thingy. Never looked for a microwave. You could always get a yogurt and a piece of fruit or some grapes. gluten-free muffins. A pack of pretzels or crackers and they have these little squeeze packs of PB, Almond butter, PB & chocolate, etc. Might...
  3. I think you should email the main office for the company. They seem to intend the fryer to be dedicated and this outlet is not following the rules. A manager of a resturaunt that does not have a gluten-free menu told me that they have 3 fryers, one is for only fries. However, she doesn't monitor that if they get busy, they don't use it for something...
  4. Sorry. I missed that. It looks like someone got a letter from Kiikomen. I'm still not chancing it but that's me.
  5. You are now able to actually absorb and use the vitamins & minerals you were eating. Maybe that is helping your skin.
  6. Kikkomen sent you a letter saying that the regular soy sauce is gluten-free?
  7. Are you saying that Kikkomen is saying it's gluten-free even with wheat? Is that on their website?
  8. your going to be emotional for awhile. Just accept it ( the emotional part). Anyway....villa are little hair like thingys in your intestines. Not very visible on a typical scope. This is a bit interesting without being too technical and incomprehensible. Look around this site at the info for doctors to understand what they see. Open Original...
  9. In your case, I think being mad is very normal. Not working around it would be not normal. I'll say a few cuss words for you. Just a thought, but, if the damage and resultant crud ( pus, lymphocytes, etc) was so bad he could see it, maybe you have a bit of an infection in there, Thus the fever.Go gluten-free right away, and probably dairy free,...
  10. Might take a look at this. I was trying to find a different explanation & will put it on if I find it. https://www.celiac.com/articles/186/1/Corn-Gluten---Is-it-Safe-for-a-People-with-Celiac-Disease-Who-are-on-a-Gluten-Free-Diet/Page1.html Looks like Heatherjane got to this first. You can still have problems with corn but it...
  11. For potlucks, I bring a gluten-free dish to share. It's hard to be the first to eat it so I bring my own bowl of it from home. Or if I'm re- heating it, I can grab the first serving and then set it on the table. Smaller gatherings are easier to " get yours first". Also, I try to bring the same thing as is being served. Then sometimes people don't know...
  12. Good for her! My old cake pans have these little "spaces" where parts of the pan are connected. I'm sure there is stuff in there that can't be gotten out. I agree with everyone here. Enlist other families members to help support your daughter. When you talk to Grandma, after explaining that a crumb will start the reaction, also tell her that continued...
  13. My hub gets this on his fingers. The dermatologist said he has destroyed layers of skin. She gave him some anti-fungals to use first, just to make sure there wasn't anything gross growing there. Then he is to dampen his hands slather up with Cerave cream (told me its gluten-free about 1 year ago) & wear cotton gloves to bed. He also uses the Cerave...
  14. My understanding is that " normal" oats are harvested, transported and initially processed on the same equipment that does all that for wheat. They might hose the truck out but they don't scrub it down. Quaker told me something like that when I asked about 1 1/2 years ago. That's why we have to use gluten-free oats. I love love love the Capt. If they...
  15. Wow! This is a church group? They don't act very kind. I think I would try to find other friends. I'm assuming these are probably teenagers but they are acting like mean 5 year olds. Next time, when its time to pull out your food, sit next to the youth pastor, priest whoever is the adult leader and let them see the nasty behavior. 100 years ago, if...

    ARCHIVED I

May is Celiac Awareness month & April is Be a Bad Friend month! Semi- seriously: next time the friend says, " I would love to have you to my palatial country home". cut her off before the "but". Say, " I'm free every weekend in May"
  17. You should take your lunch to school. It is very unlikely the school lunches are safe. The people in the cafeterias usually don't even know the ingredients. They may use a spatula to take chicken nuggets off a tray and then use it for something that should be gluten-free.
  18. Blue cheese shouldn't be a problem. i have seen some info on here that the mold on the cheaper American stuff hasn't seen wheat in generations. Even then the wheat was used to grow the mold, it wasn't added to the cheese. You are likely to get more gluten from the clueless resturaunt. is this a chain? You should email or write the main office. I...
  19. Not sure Chili is a proper hat for a royal wedding.
  20. Open Original Shared Link Show Hank this. It makes the funny hat seem mild.
  21. You have the proper attire for the Royal Wedding.
  22. I'm an O+. Potatoes are very calming to my stomach. Avocados and OJ are good for me. Its an interesting thought but I'm not sure blood type is the whole thing.
  23. You can chop veggies, drain and rinse beans, and mix seasonings together the night before in a big bowl in the fridge. Then just put them and the meat in and turn on. Getting froz veggies makes it even easier. I have never figured out how to cook from " scratch". I must be scratching the wrong thing cause no food appears.
  24. Hug from Leawood! I hate to be a burden on people but I'm finding that lots of people don't mind being a burden on me! I think in the end it evens out.
  25. They have many gluten-free products. It could be another ingredient. I think that is the one my SIL can eat. She is allergic to mushrooms and many broths have been made with mushroom.
