  1. I have heard that parts of Spain can be very easy to manage with Celiac. But you learn Spanish with a weird accent..... lol
  2. I think what the article is saying is that it isn't physically possible for gluten to go through the skin. It is bigger than the natural holes in the skin. It isn't "research" - This is just an anatomical fact. And there is the part that the autoimmune reaction occurs when gluten is in the small intestine..... So going through the skin isn...
  3. Maybe they are careful because its your friend? Or you were watching? I have heard some Dominos are better than other at gluten-free. Do they use fresh, non- contaminated cheese, sauce, toppings? I worked in a pizza place and usually you touch the dough, then use a ladle for sauce that usually touches the pizza to spread the sauce and then use the same...
  4. How do you know you have malabsorption? Open Original Shared Link "There is not yet reliable data about cross-reactivity. As for the alleged possibility that many gluten-free foods or drinks (such as coffee, milk, orange juice, etc.) would trigger symptoms in celiac individuals due to hidden antigens mimicking gluten or cross-reacting with anti...
  5. Eating gluten free should heal the villi. You shouldn't need to do anything more. Some foods might be irritating, especially in the beginning. If you are still having issues years after you have been diagnosed with Celiac, you would want to re- check your antibodies. If they are still high, the first step is to really get strict with the gluten-free diet...
  6. I think they use gluten-free oats if they label gluten-free. Maybe you are reacting to the oats? IF you think you are reacting to all oats, even gluten-free ones?
  7. I think just read the ingredients. I don't drink eggnog, but I know a few Celiacs that do. I can't imagine why they would put gluten in it
  8. Sorry. I don't understand this logic. I can't imagine that some left-over barley, from years ago, might still be in the machines glutening the product. Even assuming they are actually using all the same machines, and never cleaned them, it must have washed out by now? Plus, they say they test for gluten.
  9. They say they test for gluten. I would use it.
  10. I wonder if tired and stressed isn't just normal for your situation? Even if you had nothing wrong with you? An intensive training/class schedule and 2 jobs? Is there anyway you could drop a job? Preferable the one you like the least?
  11. It can be hard to tell in the beginning. It takes months to heal and then get your GI system regulated. Could have been all the hard to digest cheese or pepperoni. Could have been the previous meal or the meal the day before that had gluten. The safest thing for you , for at at least a couple of months, is to not eat food you haven't prepared...
  12. Metal toxicity is actually quite rare. Unfortunately, we usually hear about lead or mercury poisoning in kids. "The main treatment of heavy metal poisoning is termination of exposure to the metal. Treatment also consists of the use of various chelating agents that cause the toxic (poison) element to bind with the drug and be excreted in the urine. Three...

  14. Those posts are over 10 years old.
  15. Sounds like cutting Gluten out also cut out a lot of calories. Try counting your calories and see if you are eating enough for the weight you want to be? Increase your daily calories and you should gain weight, unless there is something else wrong with you. Thyroid issues could be responsible, too.
  16. I have to tell you that, about 3 years ago, I went to the International Celiac Disease Symposium. The coffee cross-reactive myth was discussed as we were all consuming vast quantities of Starbucks coffee provided by the Sheraton. Needless to say, it was good for a laugh. Open Original Shared Link
  17. Gluten Cross-reactive foods is some sort of odd internet myth. It started with a company that wanted to sell bogus medical tests. They have even admitted that the coffee thing isn't true - they used gluten contaminated instant coffee. However, you have to look at the small print in a lot of nonsense in a large binder of stuff to find that fact. I did...
  18. That's how he makes his money... of course you will not get them to agree that the tests are bogus! Same with all these " miracle" supplements that claim to " digest" gluten. If you call them, , of course they are going to say they work! Open Original Shared Link "We only embrace tests that have endured rigorous scientific evaluations. So far,...
  19. What GEE EFF said! Look for incubators, some business schools and even community colleges will have classes about starting your own business & info about financing one. There is a lot more to a business then just making and selling and getting someone else to buy the food Taxes - paying and collecting in different cities or tax zones, health...
  20. It appears that surgery is one thing that can trigger Celiac disease. Just want to add - once you have Celiac , you always have Celiac. It isn't an "imbalance" and can't be reversed. The only current treatment for Celiac disease is a gluten free diet.
  21. Splenda was gluten-free back in 2005 when this thread was active and its still gluten-free now! I like it better than aspartame as aspartame gives me a stomach ache. But some people are the exact opposite.
  22. Looks like 1 Celiac antibody test & its negative. the IGa = 356 just means that you make enough of the stuff that an IGA test looks for. A few people don't, so that's why they have to have that.
  23. If you have been eating gluten free, here things should all get better. Perhaps you have some other issue that needs to be addressed?
  24. I would like to clear something up here..... " Celiac. Com" doesn't " say" anything. It doesn't do research. Sometimes it links to studies or articles published elsewhere. It allows people to express thier opinions, thoughts, links to info, etc. Using " Celiac. Com " as a scientific source isn't valid. Perhaps saying " in this article, on c. Com that...
  25. "see this link Open Original Shared Link where they say quoting "While the excess risk found in celiac first-degree relatives can be explained by genetics, the higher risk in spouses points to the impact of environmental factors" like stress in their environment. Mind you these people don’t’ have the genetics for it. Now technically if we listen to ...
