  1. sorry, I don't know what swedish bitters are. do you have the ingredience?
  2. Rickops: I am so glad that you have returned. I have thought alot about your situation and hoped that you would find the answer for you child. GFMemphis gave you some leads. I hope you followed up on those. There are many parents here with children with celiac and I am sure that they will be here soon. I have heard that testing small children...
  3. I have found that the longer that you are gluten free the more sensitive you reacts to "mistakes", or cross contamination. Regarding your question about pinning....When a new topic is posted, a moderator will look at it to see if it is appropriate and in proper form and place, then they will pin it. If it takes a while, all the moderators are away from...
  4. Oh JUST GREAT! So I'm in charge with Customer Satisfaction! I ALWAYS GET DUMPED ON!!!!! I want another job BTW: I think that Jonny Onthespot should be our CEO.
  5. Hi Sheryl: Welcome. You found the perfect place. You will learn more here than anywhere else. I would not to tamper with you meds until you see improvement from a gluten free diet, and then, I would suggest discussing this with your doctor (or new one that understands Celiac!). Going off anti's can cause some pretty rough reactions. You might...
  6. In addition to those answers....Long term use of antacids hinders the absorption of Vit B-12.
  7. Start a new thread...."Calling all NOVA Peeps" That will help.
  8. It may be time to pull up " I might Celiac if..." It is soooo wonderful and adds a level of humor. Yup, time once again.
  9. All joking aside, I feel you pain. I have the oddest figure. I wear a size 12 blouse and a size 6 pant. If I trip over a brick I will topple head over heals. The rest is toothpick size. Motivation needed here. Carry me along with you journey, please.
  10. chaty: I have had a chronic backache for many years. My doctor told me that my IBS and chronic backache were two different issues. After years of complaining and celiac was triggered ( he was clueless about what was going on), he sent me to a gastro guy who did the endoscopy. My biopsy indicated Celiac. Since gluten free, I no longer have a chronic...
  11. Jan Flower: Boy, you sure sound like me and I have witnesses to vouch for that! I never went anywhere without checking out the bathroom first. I too, never heard the word. I had to google it just to know what I was dx'd with. My doctor was not help what so ever. It does get better. As it is often said here "the learning curve is steep". That...
  12. I did not post on the poll, which I find quite interesting. My mother died when I was two and no one left to ask. But, I expect that I was not. (for a variety of reasons) Lisa
  13. Gina Lindalee lives in Virginia Beach. Send her a PM I'm about an hour and 15 from Chesapeake, in eastern NC. If you need some restaurant suggestions, let me know.
  14. OOOOOHHHH, to have but one choice. Lucky you!
  15. Yup....give it to me.
  16. I found it a few days ago while out of town. I haven't had a grilled cheese in over a year and a half. Pretty darn good.
  17. Steve: I have been thinking about you all day. I hope that you are feeling better.
  18. Sounds like you are well on your way! I pitched all my wooden spoons and got rid of the scratched up non-stick pans. A separate colander is a good thing for your own pasta. Your own toaster. If you have used an iron skillet to fry gluten foods, that should be avoided. I find that a good run in the dishwasher does the job or a good hand wash....
  19. Hey Greg: There is a whole crowd from Northern Virginia (my old stopp'in ground). You also have quite a few restaurant choices. Austin Grill - Alexandria Blue Iguana - Fairfax Bonefish Grill - Fairfax Capitol Grille - McLean Carrabba's Italian Grille - Reston Chevy's Frest Mex - Falls Church Clyde's - Reston - Alexandria - Vienna Don Poablo...
  20. That could be sensitivity to gluten withdrawal. It does take some time to begin to feel better depending on the amount of damage done to you intestines. This should pass soon.
  21. Lister: Take a deep breath and another. Take one day at a time. Get a good night sleep and see what tomorrow will bring. Thinkin about you.

ARCHIVED Feeling Fed Up With Celiac

Paulr: Being diagnosed with Celiac is not as drastic as it may appear. A lot of it is a mind game. You need to know that what you put in you mouth can cause you serious problems. If you eat gluten you will be sick, if you don't you will feel better. That is the bottom line. Celiac has over 200 symptoms. I too have the shakes after a year on the...
  23. Happy Birthday Chris, I hope you celebrate and raise a little bit of $ell in Vegas!
  24. Clikchick: Welcome to the board. I am glad that you have found us. I am curious about some of the things that you doctor told you though. A diagnosis for Celiac is done in the small intestines with a test called endoscopy and biopsies are take to confirm Celiac. It is not diagnosed with a colonoscopy. You doctor said that you "don't have all of...
  25. Godspeed to you and wishful thoughts. xxoo
