He said he's taking the meds. :) He's going to post on LN tonight .... I think it will be good for him to see what others tell him, too.

Very good news Carla!

2,000 pages is hard to believe, and still no balloons and confetti...what's up with that?!

Yes, it is good that he's going on the meds .... the thing is, he's been bitten before, so I'm probably more on the fence about abx than he and Adam are. But on the other hand, he is going to tick central (New York) in a few weeks for the summer (he's going for the summer and keeping an open mind about next year, Kassandra), so at least if he gets bitten there he will already be on meds.

WOAH....2000 pages :o ...thats pretty darn amazing!

Yeah...and where's our confetti???

Thanks everyone for the instant messaging suggestions. I have to read them over again. I'm kind of lost on the Skype and some of the other stuff.

I'm not wanting to text from mobile to mobile...just wanna be able to recieve IM's from Yahoo (or whatever IP) on my phone ...and to respond back. Kassandra, I might have more questions about this later. :)

Carla, I'm glad to hear that your son is gonna post on LN....thats a good start. ;)

I had to stop taking my enzymes temporarily....no enzymes 3 days prior to the CDSA and during. Sheeesh...that really sucks! :(

Its been a couple years since I've had to do any stool testing....its all coming back to me now....I'm remembering how much it sucks....especially considering I'm on the "C" side. Who knows when I might actually complete the test.

I let Amy know about my porphyrin results. She wont be able to look at the results until she's back in the office (July) but she said it still sounds like the phenols and epinephrine are the "biggies", over the metals.

I guess thats why it would be important to test as many things as possible with ART....I dont think she would normally ever check for phenols but it would have more than likely shown up as the biggest stressor if we'd been testing it all along. There's just so many possibilities its hard to know what to look for and theres not enough time to test for so many variables.

Since phenols seems to be an issue for alot of people (especially with autism) its good that we were able to figure that part out and I'm sure she will test for it more often in some of her patients. I cant wait for my next ART session now that we've changed direction and can start testing more things directly related to this issue. :)

I searched something a while back & landed on p200, and it's funny now that there were posts like "who'd have thought this thread would still be alive 200 pages in?" heehee :D

YAY! on the 2000 pages of helpfulness to us all!!!!!!

Yay! Carla's son willing to take abx...

Donna, hope you can resolve the questions for yourself and be a peace and calm with your decision...

Guess what? I think I am starting to really herx....only change is tripled Vitamin D, and moved my natto to taking it on an empty stomach. I am glad if things are going to work better (natto helps the abx, D helps the immune system) but I gotta make it through the week with prep for travel and next week's travel and adjustments! Eeek.

Everyone,

What is the best way to detox an kidney. My aunt ended up having an huge kidney infection, that is what was making her organs shut down. She is willing to do anything i ask her to do. She is also diabetic, so i know i cant have her detox bathe or detox pads. But i was thinking lemon water and green juice. I also read stuff about cranberry pills to keep uti's away. Is there anything else anyone can think of.

I made the first post on page 2000 lol

I never finished my post lol

Im feeling really good here. I did figure something out the other day. You remember when we were talking about pork being bad for us. Well i had given it up for about an week. The other night my hubby wanted to have pork chops for fathers day, so i was like ok, one time wont hurt me. The next day my stomach hurt so bad and it was bloated. So guess what, no more pork. Could this be from an intolerance or parasites.

Carla,

Im sorry about your son.

April,.

Im sorry about the chiggers, i knew what you were talking about lol I just didnt know what to do for them lol. Im too busy fighting the mosquitos in colorado. I am covered in them, which isnt good cause west nile virus is so popular here.

Rachel.

Have you figured out how to contact him via chat online. I think you can that threw msn, and since it is free to have msn, i would look into that. If you need help figuring it out just let me know and ill help you figure it out, i have lots of smart online friends that know how to do all that lol

Nancy, you have had quite a journey. I see that you've not been gluten free that long yet. Do you think it is making a major difference?

I am suspicious that it is going to take the full two years to see if my gut will heal substantially on gluten free. I'll be testing later this month to see if there is any further sign of improvement in the malabsorption. I did go from severe to normal on the Enterolab malabsorption index over the first 10 months.

Sounds like your Igenex tests were negative?

Finding an approach that feels safe to you and practitioners whose opinion you trust is difficult--and many of us share that experience.

My experience with lyme treatment has been mixed; I do not regret antibiotic therapy because it has given me my life back without living with constant pain. (I used to take 4 aspirin at a time every 4 hours just to function and sleep). But I haven't been able to get beyond reliance on abx, and so far haven't found the answers to bring me into another level of healing. I'm still trying various things, and what I have learned on this thread has been substantial and helpful.

Sherry

Hi Sherry-

Being gluten free cut down on a lot of system wide inflammation/pain and dizziness and weakness. At least i am able to get out of bed on most days for a good part of the day. My tests from Entero said i had no malabsorption which I find amazing...

Regarding Lyme,

Were your tests positive from Igenex?

My Igenex tests were negative but because I am hitting a wall, I think I may either retest or I don't know what. But, more and more, it seems like I have it. Or the fatigue and pain can come from my thyroid being SO LOW because i can't take the appropriate amount of replacement thyroid without getting a severe reaction.

I am so afraid to try anti-biotics for the Lyme ... what if I am getting a false negative from Igenex..how would I know unless I tried abx and see if they helped. I am in constant pain though and I have been for years and years.

How are you? What is not improving for you now?

If your aunt doesn't have our issues with gluten and alcohol tinctures...Renelix by Pekana is amazing. Last year when the dogs and cats were dying from kidney disease because of contaminated food, some vets recommended Renelix as a last ditch effort and it saved some animal's lives.

I hope she will be OK.

Paula, make sure the cranberry juice is pure and unsweetened. I can find Knudsen's here, and there is another brand I can't remember at the moment.....I'll look into it and let you know.

Glad you are noticing a difference without the pork in your diet.

Sherry, I hope it doesn't take you down too much :(

Nancy, I am sure Carla and the others will have lots to say about your Igenex results, retesting, and treating/not treating :) They are the lyme experts.

Everyone, I was in the check out line the other day and spotted a headline on a magazine that caught my attention. It said there was something harmful in lettuce that is affecting our thyroid function, so I opened it up and started reading the article. It's actually a chemical (can't recall exactly what it was) that they say has seeped into our ground water so it's not only in lettuce but in all produce. This chemical apparently messes with our thyroids :o

Paula...I tried to accomplish this with the colored confetti.

Oh well...I partied like it was 1999!! :D

We used to give prizes for the first poster on significant page numbers....I think page 100 was a huge deal. I probably lost that time too. :P

Anyways....the prizes werent real....we just had BIG imaginations. ;)

Ok...Tom, got any ideas for balloons? Streamers? :)

Nice....If its not one thing....its another. Is there really anything safe to eat anymore??

I think I might actually be safe from the thyroid attacking chemical since mine's already pretty much been destroyed by the brilliant doctors who nuked it for the "benefit" of my health.

And on top of that...I cant eat produce. No fruits or veggies for me (except the peas and the occassional peeled pear)....so yeah...I think I've had enough damage already...this new chemical cant touch me. :P

I used a Lake something or other from the health food store. I've bought Knudsen's juices as well though.

I have no doubt our food supply is contaminated all sorts of ways. :(

Rachel,

You've got enough chemicals (I'm thinking phenols even though they aren't chemicals) without this one bothering you. You can always tell it to take a number. :P

Now! Off to bed with you!:lol:

Regarding Lyme,

Were your tests positive from Igenex?

I never have had Igenex tests, I had Bowen lab tests initially in 2000-2001.

I am so afraid to try anti-biotics for the Lyme ... what if I am getting a false negative from Igenex..how would I know unless I tried abx and see if they helped. I am in constant pain though and I have been for years and years.

There's no one size fits all answer, that's for sure. Antibiotics really helped me but it took months to improve. I did have herx reactions which kept us sticking with the program, and that plus eventual improvement confirmed the diagnosis.

How are you? What is not improving for you now?

I have periodic relapses where I get pain symptoms; otherwise I have cycled up and down with fatigue and brain fog. I have failed to successfully get off abx without relapsing and have been unable to transfer to an all herbal regimen without relapsing. The celiac and malabsorption piece has been the most recent significant discovery, hope to find improvements in the testing coming up.

Perhaps you could have your Vitamin D levels tested? I've been posting recently about this. You could look up the Zero-based protocol for an idea about how D can be significant for chronic fatigue.

Yay! Carla's son willing to take abx...

Well, as usual, he says one thing and does another. <_< He didn't check out LN and he didn't take the abx last night. I haven't checked this morning to see if he's taken them yet.

Kidney infections are serious, don't mess around with it!!! I took colloidal silver once for kidney pain/high fever. Even my anti-med chiropractor made me promise to go to the doctor if it didn't clear up in a couple days .... it got better.

Carla,

Im sorry about your son.

Thanks.

My Igenex tests were negative

Can you post your results? My doctor told me mine were negative, but they weren't. Plus, LLMD's have different standards for interpreting them than other doctors .... even the CDC says their standards are for tracking purposes only.

Happy 2000 pages everyone!

Paula, I think pork is really just hard to digest and for those of us with other stuff going on it just can be too much.

Hello, @annamarie6655, Yes, there's many of us who react to airborne gluten!   Yes, animal feed, whether for chickens or cats or dogs, can release airborne gluten.  I can get glutened from the bakery section at the grocery store.   The nose and mouth drain into the digestive system and can trigger systemic reactions.   I find the histamine release in response to airborne gluten will stuff up my sinuses and bother my eyes.  High histamine levels do cause anxiety and migraines.  The muscle spasms can be caused by high histamine, too.  The digestive system may not manifest symptoms without a higher level of gluten exposure.   Our bodies make an enzyme, DAO (diamine oxidase), to break down histamine.   Pyridoxine B 6, Cobalamine B12, Vitamin C, copper, zinc, and iron are needed to make DAO.  DAO supplements are available over the counter.  Taking a B Complex supplement and additional Thiamine in the form Benfotiamine or TTFD (tetrahydrofurfuryl disulfide) helps reduce the amount of histamine being released.  Mast cells without sufficient Thiamine have an itchy trigger finger and release histamine at the slightest provocation.  Thiamine helps mast cells refrain from releasing their histamine.    I find taking additional TTFD thiamine helps immensely with neurological symptoms as TTFD can easily cross the blood brain barrier without a carrier.  High histamine in the brain can cause the muscle spasms, anxiety and migraines.  Vitamin C really helps with clearing histamine, too.   The Digiorno pizza mystery reaction could have been caused by a reaction to the cheese.  Some people develop lactose intolerance.  Others react to Casein, the protein in dairy, the same as if to gluten because Casein resembles the molecular structure of gluten.  An enzyme used in some dairy products, microbial transglutaminase, causes a gluten reaction because it is the same as the tissue transglutaminase our bodies make except microbes make it.  Those tTg IgA blood tests to diagnose celiac disease measure tissue transglutaminase our bodies release as part of the autoimmune response to gluten.   You're doing great!  A Sherlock Holmes award to you for figuring out the connection between airborne gluten and animal feed!!!

I’m wondering if anyone has had any experience with the gluten challenge. My teenager completed a gluten challenge over the summer, it ended up being 10 weeks although she stopped being consistent eating gluten after 6. Her previous endoscopy was negative but this past August it was positive after the gluten challenge. If you have done the gluten challenge, how long did it take you to feel back to normal? It took about two months before she got “glutened” again but now she’s having difficult coming back from that and has a lot of fatigue. I’m hoping someone has some advice!
    • annamarie6655
Hello everyone, I was on here a few months ago trying to figure out if I was reacting to something other than gluten, to which a very helpful response was that it could be xanthin or guar gum.    Since then, I have eaten items with both of those ingredients in it and I have not reacted to it, so my mystery reaction to the Digiorno pizza remains.    HOWEVER, I realized something recently- the last time I got glutened and the most recent time I got glutened, I truly never ate anything with gluten in it. But i did breathe it in.    The first time was a feed barrel for my uncle’s chickens- all of the dust came right up, and most of what was in there was wheat/grains. The second time was after opening a pet food bag and accidentally getting a huge whiff of it.    When this happens, I tend to have more neurological symptoms- specifically involuntary muscle spasms/jerks everywhere. It also seems to cause migraines and anxiety as well. Sometimes, with more airborne exposure, I get GI symptoms, but not every time.    My doctor says he’s never heard of it being an airborne problem, but also said he isn’t well versed in celiac specifics. I don’t have the money for a personal dietician, so I’m doing the best I can.    is there anyone else who has experienced this, or gets similar neurological symptoms?
    • trents
I was suffering from PF just previous to being dx with celiac disease about 25 yr. ago but have not been troubled with it since. Not sure what the connection between the two is of if there is one. But I do know it is a very painful condition that takes your breath away when it strikes.
