When my mom was "forced" to tell me what a period was (Are You There God? It's me Margaret ) she figure she'd throw in sex. I took one look at her (I think I was ten) and screamed "Ahhhhh...you do that would dad?" Ran and hid in my room :lol::ph34r: :ph34r:

saw a book in bookstore window Are You there, vodka? Iit's me, Chelsea. Clearly a must-read as it is not on Oprah's Booklist (yet)!!!!!!!!

I was attempting to come out of hiding when I happened upon (okay . . . willing looked against my better judgment) the thread which I believe caused your page stretching scream and I think I am outta here again. What's the point of contending with people who believe they are so smart that they somehow understand how a DEAD virus could make them sick. Somebody get these people a scholarship to MIT. <_< I'm sure the experts in virology could use some help in coming up with an HIV vaccine. Oh that's right . . . vaccines are much more dangerous than any of the illnesses they protect against . . . how could I forget.

My mom embodied patience, understanding, and compassion; I don't know why I'm so lacking in those virtues. Maybe I just need to grow up a little more . . . I dunno . . .

Sorry for all this very unfunny, unSillyness. Please feel free to ignore this yucky, party pooper post. I will try to stay away til I'm more centred and less pissed with all of the BS that gets posted by occasion around the board. I think I went off my Wellbutrin too quickly. Um, well, actually it was cold turkey. :ph34r: Yeah. Hence, I feel like utter crap - yesterday and today - rather physically ill. I *did* take half a tablet on Friday, but this is entirely the incorrect dosage and method of weaning. took half a pill today also. feel wretched. :huh:

and hello to all other silly friends. got nowt here, heading to bed....and can't remember a single thing I wanted to address. Oh, probably because I read it all houuuuuuurs ago.

i saw james earl jones interviewed once about this movie and he said a characters likness

wAS a tribut to his mom and he started to tear up and he said... " ..oh ....no.... you'd thiink i'd be ..... kinda healed ...but you never heal that one it's been like 17 years since she passed... "

so if it takes a big guy like james earle jones ( voice of darth vador) more than 17 years to be able to talk openly about the loss of his mum... i got lots more time.......

Last Fri was the 8th anniversary of my mom's death.............can't help but wonder if she had celiac. Almost lost her many years earlier when I was a kid.......had a busted appendix for 9 days before going to the hospital. I remember she said she just thought it was something she ate. Makes sense that if food was already making her sick, another tummy ache wouldn't have caused her alarm. And she was the kind of person to never let on if she didn't feel good. And that's why colon cancer took her so quickly.

So I thought, even though it's a simple sign, it would be fitting if the sign of the day were......

MOM

Gotta love Lilly Tomlin!!! :lol: When I was in high school, I did a skit for the talent show..doing Edith Ann......I even had the big chair! :D At that time, my mom had just had a baby, and our dog had puppies........so I wrote my script about knowing where babies come from :rolleyes:

Morning, Sillies!

Another running-about, hither and yon day up here. Taking Jack for his first two-hour tennis lesson this am, and Sophie to her hockey camp (yep, serious Canuck kids do it all year - - quite an odd thing, standing in an arena, shivering and pulling a jacket over myself, while it is 90 sweltering degrees just outside the doors)...... :rolleyes::huh:

Yes, I second all this! Very confuzzling, last night's back-and-forths about a mysterious newbie thread, Bev's Maine musings gone awry, the dangers of dead viruses..... . . .

Went frantically trying to find all of these entertainting nuggets, to no avail. I DO think that I need to get out more - - perhaps I've simply forgotten how to find other threads! :lol:

Alex! You are such a together, mature, phunee, great woman - - it shines through in everything you post. Nobody is more patient, understanding and compassionate than you are as a sister; of this we are all certain... .. and it sounds like you have a terrific marriage, which commands all of these qualities!

Well, Judy Blume has been recently brought up, and I'd bet that virtually ALL of us women have had part of our adolescent lives touched by her. I'm sure I read everything she put out, including her two adult novels, Wifey and Summer Sisters. As a kid, my favorites were Deenie and Forever. Such heroines for a girl to be exposed to! (Ha! Haven't had my second cup of tea and it's still too early, obviously....cannot get my mind around the reconfiguring of that sentence to move the preposition into its proper middle position...).. . . .. :rolleyes:<_<

Another day here. Yesterday wasn't too bad though. We are expecting some very nasty storms later...and for once I remember to shut down and unplug my computer @ home. I had one fry once even though it was on a surge protector...not having that again!

I smelled smoke, so I called 911 and we had to evacuate the house until the firemen went in and looked around. I remember grabbing my purse and Allo--Matt and I put him in the car and we stood in the rian waiting for them to let us back in. :rolleyes:

A few weeks ago, I was laying on the couch and we have the upstairs apartment so ours has enclosed balcony. Well it was about 10 at night and John was standing by our breakfast bar. I smelt smoke. So I sat up and asked him if he turned the stove on and was cooking. He said no but I got up to look anyway. I didn't smell anything. I walked back over and where I was laying my lap top was there and once again I smelt the smoke and it was like an electrical burning type smell...so I quick unplugged the computer and was worried it was the plug...but that plug is on one of those reset things so if it gets hot it turns off....so then I went outside. the smell was strong there but I couldn't see any smoke. I started yelling for Jen and she came out....we couldn't find anything....and eventually the smell went away. But I was paniced for quite some time...fire scares me!

Me too.

Out here where we live now, it's legal to burn leaves and twigs and stuff in your yard. Having never lived where this was ok, it's strange to sometimes wake up to the smell of a fire when a neighbor up the street (retired) is burning--which he seem do do quite often....methinks he burns his junk mail :lol:

It's enough in the distance that I don't immediately think there's anything wrong here, but it's definately something I have to get used to.

I know the burning of leaves and such is allowed up by my mom's area. Unless they have a burn ban for a drought. I am not sure if it is allowed in my area since where we are here, they put the leave piles on the sides of the streets and the town picks it up and takes it away. It is good and bad. The bad is cars purposely drive through and scatter the leaves everywhere....

So my sister Tammy is in Italy and doing well, Silvia is enjoying her relatives, this is the first time meeting the grandparents and they love her.

My other sister Carrie, went on her first date last night since the break-up of her 4 yr relationship. That ended in June. She really enjoyed herself and said the guy was a real gentleman....I am happy for her.

Hey, Patti and Amanda! Just you two..... . .. a quiet morn here. Whassup wif everyone else? I was just thinking that Jo is what......6 hours behind us? So she is still sleeping. I wonder if her brain turns off while she sleeps, or if it keeps chugging away - - gotta be on yer toes to keep up with her phunnee thoughts! :lol:

Fires.....never had one here, or in the neighboUrhood, thank gawd, but Will is an insurance adjuster and examines many houses in the aftermath of a big fire. :( A lot of it is arson, but the second most common cause is leaving pots on the stove (DUH!!! :huh: ), followed by careless smoking and candles being forgotten. Often not a happy line of work, I must say.....

And VERY unsilly, to boot!! On to o9ther things.....

Just posted a thread on a FASCINATING interview with the incredible Dr. Simoncini in Italy, and the work he's done with cancer and candida. Worth watching!

      Maybe they can attribute certain skin conditions to either being susceptible to getting Celiac......or the other way around....but I have to ask if certain people are prone to Celiac because of genetics and some people aren't.       @xxnonamexx, There's labeling on those Trubar gluten free high fiber protein bars that say: "Manufactured in a facility that also processes peanuts, milk, soy, fish, WHEAT, sesame, and other tree nuts." You may want to avoid products made in shared facilities. If you are trying to add more fiber to your diet to ease constipation, considering...

      What kind of practitioner did the blood test? Was this a medical doctor, a naturopathic doctor, a GI doc? I would certainly follow up with them and ask why they advised you not to eat red meat. I mean, it could be something like they, themselves, are a vegetarian and give that advice to everyone. Have you had an endoscopy with biopsy of the small bowel...

      @EndlessSummer, You said you had an allergy to trees. People with Birch Allergy can react to green beans (in the legume family) and other vegetables, as well as some fruits. Look into Oral Allergy Syndrome which can occur at a higher rate in Celiac Disease. Switching to a low histamine diet for a while can give your body time to rid itself of...

      @xxnonamexx, There's labeling on those Trubar gluten free high fiber protein bars that say: "Manufactured in a facility that also processes peanuts, milk, soy, fish, WHEAT, sesame, and other tree nuts." You may want to avoid products made in shared facilities.   If you are trying to add more fiber to your diet to ease constipation, considering eating more leafy green vegetables and cruciferous vegetables.  Not only are these high in fiber, they also are good sources of magnesium.  Many newly diagnosed are low in magnesium and B vitamins and suffer with constipation.  Thiamine Vitamin B1 and magnesium work together.  Thiamine in the form Benfotiamine has been shown to improve intestinal health.  Thiamine and magnesium are important to gastrointestinal health and function.

      Welcome to celiac.com @sha1091a! Your experience is a very common one. Celiac disease is one the most underdiagnosed and misdiagnosed medical conditions out there. The reasons are numerous. One key one is that its symptoms mimic so many other diseases. Another is ignorance on the part of the medical community with regard to the range of symptoms that celiac disease can produce. Clinicians often are only looking for classic GI symptoms and are unaware of the many other subsystems in the body that can be damaged before classic GI symptoms manifest, if ever they do. Many celiacs are of the "silent" variety and have few if any GI symptoms while all along, damage is being done to their bodies. In my case, the original symptoms were elevated liver enzymes which I endured for 13 years before I was diagnosed with celiac disease. By the grace of God my liver was not destroyed. It is common for the onset of the disease to happen 10 years before you ever get a diagnosis. Thankfully, that is slowly changing as there has developed more awareness on the part of both the medical community and the public in the past 20 years or so. Blessings!

      I found out the age of 68 that I am a celiac. When I was 16, I had my gallbladder removed when I was 24 I was put on a medication because I was told I had fibromyalgia.   going to Doctor’s over many years, not one of them thought to check me out for celiac disease. I am aware that it only started being tested by bloodwork I believe in the late 90s, but still I’m kind of confused why my gallbladder my joint pain flatulent that I complained of constantly was totally ignored. Is it not something that is taught to our medical system? It wasn’t a Doctor Who asked for the test to be done. I asked for it because of something I had read and my test came back positive. My number was quite high.Are there other people out here that had this kind of problems and they were ignored?

      Welcome to celiac.com, @EndlessSummer! Do you react to all vegetables or just specific kinds or families of them? What you describe with green beans sounds like it has an anaphylaxis component. Like you, walnuts are a problem for me. They will often give me a scratchy throat so I try to avoid them. Does it matter if the vegies are raw or will-cooked in how you react to them?
