and you have a vague idea of where I live. Show up any time. If it's in the middle of the night, could you use the back door? It's where the TV is anyway and you can watch movies until I get up (at 4......)

. . Last night I dreamt that I had chest hair . . . and it gets better . . . it was highlighted. I also dreamt that I had hair on my back but it was realy long and looked mane-like. I was trying to determine if I should wear it in a ponytail . . . oh, and the back hair had NO highlights!!

Gah!  Did you happen to see my mom in your dream anywhere, with long, flowing brows?

I'm OK. We're working on it, really hard. Divorce is really not an option for me, so I started seeing a therapist a few weeks ago to try to figure it all out. He refuses to see one, unfortunately, but he's trying as well. Time will tell.....

Wow... ..good for you, Rah-shyellle! What a wonder woman/mother you are... . . .so together, so busy, such a terrific mom, friend, employee. . ... .....and going through all this like a trooper. I really admire you! :) And I really hope you work it all out.. . . ...

Just put a li'l sharpie moustache on him. Sharpies fix just about anything. . . . ...

What a visual this is--Jan-it wif her highlighted, french braided back hair and Em's mom sporting long, phlowing eyebrows artfully applied wif a Sharpie.

Yep, quite sure. I ain't much, but the thing I'm most proud of is that I did not continue the manner in which I was raised when I became a parent. My kids and I actually like each other, and they are both glad we are moving back. We are in touch regularly, in fact I just talked to the eldest this morning (he called to see what was happenin').

See, that's what happens when you have to take out the smileys - peeps are not quite sure whether you are really kidding. I was just playing it for laffs, being phlippant, t'is my mood today. I knew you would be a wonderphul mom - who was it, Harry Harlow?? did the study about motherless mothers, and how they is the best moms of all. Me, I was too afraid to have kids grow up hating me :o Now I think it's just as well I did not pass on all this bad genes stuphh I have anyways.

   Back hair needs a nice french braid, would be so elegant!

No, No, NO! If it is mane hair, it MUST be a pony tail. No way you can make back hair elegant :P

Oh Shroomie honey, no worries. :)

First, it must be highlighted then I think a Farrah Faucet type do.

We do a really good job of hiding it from everyone. Even my best friends had no idea when I told them. Apparently I'm quite the actress  I did talk to Madeleine's teacher about it. She said she's noticed nothing different with her behavior and would let me know if she picks up on anything, so that's good.

Hang in there, Rey schell.

Highlight the back hair & wear a backless dress to show off your flowing locks. If your head hair is long enough, it could be like having extensions.

Gooood morning, Psills!

I need that wood enhancer that someone mentioned yesterday -- the gradual coloUr enhancer for wooden furniture that brings out the grain in stages of brown. This would be perfect for my mom's eyebrows. I used my finest-tipped light-brown sharpie (a raw sienna, I would say), and drew some fine lines of hair into Mom's sparse browline. The effect is not subtle. It looks, well.. . . .. . ......like her daughter drew some hair in with a sharpie.

Do you know how a mark left on your hand from a permanent marker such as this takes forever to come off? Won't fade in the least when it is rubbed, scrubbed, scoured with an SOS pad? Well, these sharpie marks did NOT stay on like this - - they were fading somewhat after she had washed her face. I suppose the secret is to get those marks there accidentally - - then, they stay forever. <_<

Ha, so.. .. . on with me day. Think I'll sharpie away my grey hairs with this lovely raw sienna... . ....

Thank GOD it wasn't a sharpie, but dry erase markers are almost as bad (when not used on a dry erase board....), but ds found a black marker dd left in the bathroom and decided to color a large amount of grout in our newly tiled bathroom, then he covered his art work with strips of toilet paper in hopes we wouldn't find it  We made him scrub it clean and he did a pretty good job...Lucky for him

nuphin too phunny here today, I are soooo sleepy today and coffee's not helpin <_< BUT, my cake is lookin pretty good...

I think wif the dh, we've basically been livin separate lives for the last 5-7 years, I made a big change in my life, getting healthy and losing weight after dd was born and he didn't make the change with me, no matter how often I asked. I think as I moved, bustled and did everything around the house and with the kids trying to be super-wife and mom, I ended up losing respect for him because of his lack of respect for himself. He's pretty much lived on the sofa up until 7 months ago <_< Now, this past summer, he decided to make that change for himself and I kept waiting for my attitude to change towards him, but it never did. Our communication has been on the decline for years that the only time we talked was to snap at each other. It's been a real challenge for me to become 'present' and instead of retreating into the basement or bedroom as soon as the kids went to bed, I had to force myself to go into the same room as him and initiate conversation. It's gotten easier and we are talking a lot now. I got a babysitter for Sunday afternoon and we just went downtown Portland and hung out, walked around and had an early dinner. It was nice. We'll have to do more stuff like that. It's just going to take time to get from the 'friend' stage I pheel we're at now to the 'married' stage. Hopefully it will be better than it ever has. I do like my therapist and I feel like she's helping, so that's a bonus. DH refuses to see a therapist of his own, but he'll do whatever I tell him I need from him and whatever my therapist suggests. He just thinks all the problems are mine, so what good would a therapist do for him

Marriage is HARD work, but we're working on it!!!

Thanks again, you're the most phabulous people I've never met! :P

I haven't watched it cause I don't like movies that make me cry.

I'm back to "normal" tho some would argue that my "normal" is not really normal.

kareng Grand Master

Rachelle, I've been married for 24 years. I know that we have had times where we love each other but are not "in love." Our own activities like work or our kids activities took us away from "us" activities. We would go seperately to run errands or do things around the house. When things start to get a bit distant, I try to make myself do things for Hub or with him. I go with him to get his new running shoes or other errands. Not romantic but without kids we talk about stuff - not necessarily important. Sit touching him while he is watching a car race (I can read a book). Guys like you to make them feel special even in little ways. I find that by changing my behavior (because I can only change mine) he reacts to it & changes his behavior.

Anyway, just something for you to think about or not. Sounds like the therapist is leading you in this direction. Good luck!

I've been working on this and it really does make a difference! (although it takes a very conscious effort on my part to remember to be sweet and nice  ) And even if I'm sitting on the sofa watching tv or reading and he's on the computer, I try to make contact with him, even if it's just draping my legs over him-and you're right, they need us to make them feel special. Trouble is, he doesn't do much to make me feel special.... however "feed and be fed" If I'm doing the little things that make a difference and make him feel 'special' then he's more likely to do nice things for me to make me feel special or appreciated (I did get breakfast in bed on Sunday, and that's only ever happened on Mother's Day before! :) )

We're moving in the right direction, it's just slower than he wants

It's like celiac disease - you didn't get there in a day, and it's going to take a while to get back where you'd like to be. You can't just snap your fingers, or wrinkle your nose like in "Bewitched" and Presto!, everything's hunky dory. Sounds like it's starting out well though :) And if he's open to your therapist's ideas, maybe he doesn't need one of his own  Thinking of you! Stop running around being supermom and make him bear some of the load:o

I was talking to one of the docs here who's just finishing is MPH. He said he and his wife were putting their daughter to bed and chatting about what she wanted to be when she grew up.

'Doctor' was thrown out as a possibility to which the wife answered "your daddy has been in school for a very long time to be a doctor".

Daughter replied "wow! He must learn really slow!"

FALSE POSITIVE!!!!!

fan-tabulous!!!!

:D

JoDog, however, had another seizure last night. This is the second one that I know of and it's been quite a while (9 months?). It wasn't as bad either. She and I took a really long walk last night and I'm kind of worried that I pushed her over some limit. I didn't take her to the vet because last time they just did a bunch of blood tests that came back fine and said that happens sometimes and they won't do anything about it (medication) unless it happens a lot (weekly). She does have her annual appt coming up so I'll bring it up then unless she has another before then.

Hope everything is OK. Sounds like nothing to worry about as long as it doesn't escalate.

Talk about nasty, but my bff is an ER charge nurse, and she has the unfortunate ability of diagnosing STD's by walking into a room and taking a sniff before doing a swab :o:lol:

I think you were sent to Texas to be my angel......and now you're not needed down there anymore ;)

My crockpot is possessed.

I put some sweet potatoes in to cook and went shopping. I came home to find my crockpot had turned itself off, and the 'taters are.......perfect.....

Has Kareng's kid been at your house recently? Maybe yer crockpot should enter the competition.

Forgot to mention . . .

I had a lovely morning. Went to a local county park for a group bird hike. I've been thinking about going for years (it's every other Sunday, year-round). There were about 10 of us and of course they are all regulars and knew each other but you couldn't meet a nicer group of people and I was invited to Starbucks afterwards. Absolutely loved it and now it will be on my calandar permanently. I do need to go get some new binoculars though. The ones we have are twenty years old, weigh about as much as a cinder block and hang on a very thin strap around your neck . . . you could tell I was the newbie and now I will walk hunched over for the rest of the day.

Sounds like fun! I used to be a big bird-watcher.

I have a pair of those binoculars!

Warning!.......Do NOT run with those around yer neck! You're likely to break a rib! :o

O why doth the little cat

lay stretched out in bliss

on the sun-heated patch on the floor -

His tender wee head

pillowed soft on my shoe

his feet blocking way to the door?

Does he know that my math book

lies waiting outside

with vectors and planes all a blur?

Does he seek to remind me

instead of the peace

the comes when you hear the cat purr?

Is wisdom enshrined

in halls of great learning,

in books filled with numbers and sines -

or is it instead

in the simplest things,

that we learn when we don't use our minds?

A warm patch of sun

warmer still, a soft paw

the warmest- that soft little 'mwoof'.

Can there be more than these

that we need in this life

Is this less than equations or proofs?

O but my numbers still beckon

my puzzles and twists

my modern day hunt for the kill.

Stalking the truth

buried within

discovery brings its own thrill.

Tonight we will snuggle

my warm furry friend

you can tell me your dreams of the day

for I crave the challenge

buried deep in the pages

I will win. I will have my own say.

Truly beautiful! :)

Mom was also complaining about how sparse, almost non-existent, her eyebrows are, and how she is actively looking into getting them tattooed on.

I have actually considered having eyeliner tatooed on....still might do it! B)

Some of the robotics teams are stuck in the States.

Ummm hmmm........at Geoss's house perchance? :P

Oh dear gaaaaaawd!!!!!!!!!

Sat down and watched 'The Notebook' this afternoon.... haven't stopped crying since!!!!!!

<I am a hopeless romantic :rolleyes: >

Everybody needs a good cry now and again.......maybe I should check it out

Update: I have a wonderful new gastroenterologist. She wants to be sure there’s nothing more serious, like refractory celiac, going on. She ordered various tests including some micronutrient tests that no one has ever ordered before.  I’m deficient in folate and zinc and starting supplements for both. I’m so glad I decided to go to a new GI!

Autoimmune diseases tend to cluster. Many of them are found close together on the chromosomes.
    • Rejoicephd
Just giving another update... I was referred to rheumatology, and they suspect that I may also be dealing with fibromyalgia (it has not been formally diagnosed, but just suggested at this point).  So, I am continuing with the anti-inflammatory diet and vitamins and still working to keep getting rid of all these hidden gluten sources, but I also do have another possible explanation for some of the issues that I'm dealing with.
    • Scott Adams
I would pressure the lab to do the IgA control test for free so that you won't write a poor review about their testing services. You could get this done at any time, whether or not you are gluten-free, however, the celiac disease Tissue Transglutaminase tTG-IgA test must be done after you've been eating lots of gluten for around 6 weeks. This way you could salvage the results of your tTG-IgA test, as long as you were eating lots of gluten beforehand.
    • Scott Adams
Given your strong reactions it would be wise not to eat things offered to you without reading the ingredient labels. It's possible there was indeed gluten or some allergen in the chocolates--barley malt is a common ingredient in some chocolates.
