MommaGoose, our good friend and respected veteran member of the board, has informed me that she is going to eat worms. So i am starting this thread specifically for those of us who know and love her to cheer her up cuz she needs it. She's gonna kill me, but it'll take her awhile to get here so I've got time.

Goosey- You were one of my biggest supporters when I first joined this board. You were the one who encouraged me to take control of Celiac's and not let it control me when I was afraid to go horse back riding because of gluten.. If not for you, I wouldn't have spent last October riding till mu butt was sore. You rock..... there's no two ways about it and I think it's time for a love fest. :wub::wub::wub::wub::wub::wub:

Bev....what exactly do you mean - "eat worms"? is she really eating worms...or is she leaving us...what does this mean?

No, she is not leaving us. But she is down and we have certainly all been there and will be there again. So, what Beverly is saying is that we need to tell Lisa that she is very much loved on this board and that we treasure her for all of her contributions. So, Lisa I am sending MANY HUGS to you and may you wrap yourself in them to give you comfort.

Oh, where did you find to words of the the worm song. A close friend of ours died and she new all the words, I will have to print it. I used to quote it to my girls.

You can't eat worms, they haven't been confirmed gluten free yet...... :P

Got the package today! YIPPEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!

Just to let you know: I am making grits casserole tomorrow! Oh, gingerbread halloweeen treats AND the jawbreakers are already all gone! You should have seen the kids' faces, each one having different coloured lips depending on what colour they got! :lol:

Regarding the stuff you sent me, what can I say, except you mean the world to me too and I thank God every single day that he sent me friends like you to carry me through the rough days, so my friend, let me carry you when you need it...... :)

Will call you tomorrow, just got home now from Mom's place. I stocked her up with all kinds of soups and stuff that will be easy to digest. Apparently, the doctor said she might be able to come home tomorrow so I went over and tidied up her place, washed her dishes, laundry etc. Also, I washed out and put away her ashtrays. It has been six days she has been in the hospital and hasn't had a cigarette and we are praying that she won't light up when she gets home. The doctors were really concerned about her CO2 intake, which was only at 88% (she has COPD from being a lifelong smoker). I promised her that if she quit, I would quit along with her..... THAT'S WHEN I'M GONNA NEED PLENTY OF CHEERING ON SO THERE IS NO WAY YOU CAN HAVE YOUR MOUTH FULL OF WORMS!!!!!

Isn't there a movie out about a kid that eats worms? I know there's a book about it! MommaGoose, are you gonna eat them fried, boiled, sauteed....? Or you stick a hook in 'em and drop a line in the nearest pit for some bass. A fishfry sounds like more fun than eating worms!

Momma Goose - glad you're staying. If simply for the fact that you bring silly jokes and think we're funny on the 40-something thread, you are quite funny yourself, and you add a lot. :)

If I COULD eat worms, they would have to be covered in chocolate, stuufed with peanut butter then put in a Twinkie and deep fried. And that's just not gonna happen!

      Migraines ran in my family, on my father's side. All of my female first cousins on that side, and our grandmother suffered from Migraines. Grandmother died in 1984 so we do not know if she ever would have been diagnosed with celiac disease. However, all 4 of us cousins were diagnosed with celiac disease between 2003 and 2007. The dermatitis herpetiformis...

      Scott Adams makes an excellent point about the possible pending scope with biopsy being the reason you were advised to keep eating gluten, @NCalvo822! You might want to get some clarification about that. What you don't want to happen is to go gluten free and then have to go back on gluten at some point in order to produce valid scoping/biopsy results.

      It's possible that your doctor wants you to do an endoscopy to confirm the diagnosis, and if that is the case that could be why they don't want you to go gluten-free before that procedure is done. Here is more info about how to do a gluten challenge for a celiac disease blood panel, or for an endoscopy: and this recent study recommends...

      Hi! Your history is interesting as I see parallels with my history. I too had migraines since childhood, but they run in my family so I didn’t think there could be any connection to the celiac. However, all 4 of us cousins were diagnosed with celiac disease between 2003 and 2007.  The dermatitis herpetiformis rash is a blistery, super itchy rash.  When they do the biopsy they take it from non-involved skin that is next to the rash.  If done wrong, the results may not be accurate.  Have you ever had one done? In that case, I agree that maybe she has you still on gluten for a biopsy.  But, if she has not ordered it nor referred you to a gastroenterologist, then I would question her advice.

The allergist has run many tests for my skin issues, but concluded I am not allergic to anything. I do occasionally get hives and am on daily medication to control the hives and other rashes or similar issues. At my last appt with allergist recently, I informed them of my new diagnosis of celiac disease. They said that it has nothing to do with my skin issues. They didn’t even put it in my chart. I know because I read the notes from the visit on the patient portal. However, your post has me second guessing my skin issues and possible connection to celiac disease.
