Okay everyone,

I haven't been following this thread  because you guys are just SO busy!

I have a question though, how do you get it to last all day? It looks great for a couple hours, then it doesn't look good anymore. My mom thinks my skin is mineral hungry!  ;)

Any ideas? I thought about using my smashbox photo finish, but it usually clogs my pores and I tend to break out when I wear it, which is *why* I am using EM, to PREVENT break-outs! :P

Hi Kassandra! Maybe your skin is just eating the minerals :lol: Have you tried using a finishing powder under and/or over the foundation? Silk powder is good. I also really like the Finishing Dust.

Gosh Kassandra, I don't know...how does it not look good...does the color change? or does it get shiney, or lose color? I can see that Mango answered you...maybe a finishing dust would help as she suggested.

It should be illegal to have this much fun!

 Donna LOL You must post color reviews, so the rest of us can live vicariously through you until we get our orders! :D

OMGosh  they just delivered my box. I am so excited...I haven't even really looked at the colors YET, but they sent the regular eye shadow BRUSH!!!! Yay! I thought I was getting another angled brush, but YAY, got the regular brush. That ALONE is worth the wait, lol. They also sent another liner brush...can't have too many of those, and of course the fan brush.

Okay, without flipping over the next roll of the tissue, Pink Ribbon looks to be a very nice pink. Corner Office looks a bit dark but a nice color overall. The natural reflections looks like a nice color for the finishing dust.

Smokey Pink doesn't look very pink, lol. More mauve, but a nice smokey color.

Okay, turning the tissue now...

Holy COW, did I order TWO 10 mini eyeshadows??? I've most certainly got 20 eyeshadows here, lol. NO wait...they mixed in the sampler kit with the eyeshadows, lol. Phew! I thought for a minute I got someone else's order. :)

It should be illegal to have this much fun!

Okay back in a little while once I've really looked at the eye colors.

omg u are a nut, post the colors that u like and im going to order the same ones lol, i was going to do the 48 dollar kit thing but im thinking eyeshadown and lipstick will be better, since i like the first foundation that i put on today, but i do need a brighter blush, this one kinda just blended in foundation lol.

Didn't mean to make anyone feel bad, lol. It's just that it took me a LOOONNNNNGGGG time to figure out why the minerals weren't coming out, lol. I finally stuck my fingernail in there and started scraping and to my amazement, the tape came off, lol.

This is so funny--the only reason I knew about this is because BE is the same way.

Good thing you mentioned it :)

 Paula...I won't post how I like them until I actually wear them...I'm finding that how they look in the jar isn't necessarily a good indicator of how they look on me. :P

New Car Smell look peach to me, but it's a nice light shade so might not be TOO peach. Favorite Hoodie looks interesting and I can't wait to try it.

And, for some reason I'm really excited to try the Cypress and Pressed Olive eye shadows...I don't wear green so not sure how this will look, lol.

I think Pink Ribbon might be a very nice color...may wear that tomorrow. :P

I'm wearing comfy today...it looks copper in the jar, but it's smokey brown on me with just a touch of copper sparkle at certain angles.

I just got exhale in today's shipment so haven't tried it yet....it's a fairly medium to dark brown with some reddishness to it (in the jar...it will probably look totally different on, lol).

I LOVE the smokey eyeliner.

Some of the other ones are in my NEXT 10 mini kit which is in my cart as we speak. :P

ughhh i missed up, i knew i wanted the mint concelor so i had that in my box, then i got another sampler and opps put in for another mint one lol, i could of used that 4 bucks for another lipstick lol. So i got all those eyeshadows, the face wipes, the jojo lip stuff and an sampler. I had to make it 30 in order to get the discount u know lol. Then i had to get it shipped dhl, cause the regualr mail wasnt available this time, which sucks since i know i get it fast that way, but oh well now i wont be so nekkid now with only half em products lol

OK Donna..have you tried all of your colors yet....I ordered many of the same ones you got....hope to get them soon. My husband and I have a date night Sat. (with his x-wife and her husband.....I know, I know....but we all get along very well and it has always made it so easy for my step-daughter)....anyway I always like to look my best on those nights :P As much as I like her it always feels better to be cuter..LOL

That's what my mom thinks! My skin is hungry! LOL! That would be a heck of a testimonial, "My skin eats your minerals!"  :D

I will try what you suggested. I have a full basket, so I am going to order another sampler kit. My only thing is I need to figure out how to make it long-lasting otherwise I am going to be stuck with 1000 different make-ups that I won't use!

It's like I am not wearing any make up anymore after a few hours. It's literally like it soaks into my skin. Its' very strange. I used to have this happen with my liquid foundation also, so I don't think it's specific to EM, but it's just annoying. If I go out all day, I look like I forget to get ready in the morning! LOL!

Okay, LOVING what I've tried so far from the new order.

First...Sunlight concealor. LOVE IT! I can't take away my bags, but did a great job at lessening the dark spots underneath them, lol. I also used it on my eyelids because the skin there always looks a bit dark and my eyes are deeper set. Made a big difference...and I'm not even wearing any other eye stuff today...just a little foundation over the concealor.

Second...Pink Ribbon Blush. May be my NEW FAVORITE, lol. Love this. In the jar it looks like a nice light pink. It looked slightly darker once I shook some out onto my margerine lid, lol, but on it's a perfect pink for me.

Third...Natural Reflections Fair finishing powder. LOVE IT! I never really liked BE mineral veil because I could always "see" it on my skin...my face looked a bit ghostly with it on...I see that they have a tinted one now, and maybe I would have liked that if I didn't start breaking out with BE stuff, but this...this is just about perfect. I can't "see" it at all, but it has given me a nice softer look. LOVE IT! I used it with the brush that came originally with my mineral veil...nice big fluffy retractable brush.

I also tried a little experiment which didn't quite work. I've been reading the EM forum and there is a thread about making your own lip gloss. You mix a little of the minerals into some vaseline or oil. I tried it with the Pink Ribbon and coconut oil and it was a little too liquidy, so it didn't quite work, but I could tell that THAT would have been a PERFECT pink lip gloss for me.

I have some vaseline at home, but there's no way I'd put anything from THAT container on my mouth, lol. At one time I used vaseline on my feet, and well, double dipped, lol. So I'll pick up a new container this weekend and I think that will work perfectly for the lip gloss thing...can't wait to try it.

My husband and I have a date night Sat. (with his x-wife and her husband.....I know, I know....but we all get along very well and it has always made it so easy for my step-daughter)....anyway I always like to look my best on those nights :P As much as I like her it always feels better to be cuter..LOL

 another date night! :P

Wow! I'm wondering if a "primer" would stop that from happening...EM is working on one I think. I know there are some others out there, but don't know what's in them. Trying to think of something else that could sort of be a barrier of sorts....can't think of any at the moment.

Green12 Enthusiast

Donna, sounds like you have been having fun experimenting

Glad you are liking all your new things from your order.

I have just the Finishing Dust, I wonder how this compares to the Natural Reflections finishers?? Is finishers a word?!

Kass, are you moisturizing your skin really well at night and in the morning?? I wonder if this would help saturate your skin so that it doesn't absorb all the make up after you apply it.

The primer Donna mentioned is a thought too.

Jestgar Rising Star
Second...Pink Ribbon Blush. May be my NEW FAVORITE, lol.

STOP THAT!!

How will I know what to order if you keep changing your favorites!!??!!

dlp252 Apprentice

Julie, don't know about the finishing dust...I'm thinking of getting some pretty quickly though because if they discontinue it, I'll not get a chance to try it. Course that could be bad too if I like them. :P The "dusts" seem to have neat things added like "amino acids". :P Not sure why you need those on your skin, but hey, sounds good. :)

OMGosh, I went to Walmart twice today (that's another story, lol) and the man who checks receipts at the door said "hope you found everything you needed" so I said "I should by now, this is my 2nd visit today" and he said "well, I hope you come back again" with a flirtatious grin, I was like running out of there!!!!!! Can't tell you the last time this old lady has been hit on. LOL!

That's what my mom thinks! My skin is hungry! LOL! That would be a heck of a testimonial, "My skin eats your minerals!"  :D

Hey Kassandra, I remember reading some place (maybe on the EM website) that people use a light mist of water to help 'set' the makeup. I've never tried it myself, but maybe it is worth a try.

Okay, LOVING what I've tried so far from the new order.

I have Pink Ribbon coming - it sounds nice. Let us know how the vaseline works...um...when you get your new jar, lol!

Is it wierd that I signed up to be notified by text message on my cell phone when anything on my EM DHL shipment changes?

You will officially move up in cult ranking if you make that move! :D

My DHL tracking has not been updated since 2:33 am on Tuesday morning. I'm sweating it out here!

Hi @Scatterbrain Thank you for your reply.   Some of these things could be weaknesses, also triggered by stress, which perhaps have come about as the result of long-term deficiencies which can take a long time to correct.   Some could be completely unrelated. If it is of help, I'll tell you some of the things that started in the first year or two, following my diagnosis - I pinned everything on coeliac disease, but it turns out I wasn't always right!  Dizziness, lightheaded - I was eventually diagnosed with cervical dizziness (worth googling, could be your issue too, also if you have neck pain?)  A few months after diagnosis I put my neck out slightly carrying my seven-year-old above my head, and never assigned any relevance to it as the pain at the time was severe but so short-lived that I'd forgotten the connection. Jaw pain - stress. Tinnitus - I think stress, but perhaps exacerbated by iron/vitamin deficiencies. Painful ribs and sacroiliac joints - no idea, bloating made the pain worse. It got really bad but then got better. Irregular heart rate - could be a coincidence but my sister (not a coeliac) and I both developed this temporarily after our second Astra Zeneca covid jabs.   Subsequent Pfizer jabs didn't affect us. Brain fog - a big thing for people with certain autoimmune issues but in my case I think possibly worse when my iron or B12 are low, but I have no proof of this. Insomnia - stress, menopause. So basically, it isn't always gluten.  It might be worth having your vitamins and mineral levels checked, and if you have deficiencies speak to your Dr about how better to address them?

@NanceK, I do have Hypersensitivity Type Four reaction to Sulfa drugs, a sulfa allergy.  Benfotiamine and other forms of Thiamine do not bother me at all.  There's sulfur in all kinds of Thiamine, yet our bodies must have it as an essential nutrient to make life sustaining enzymes.  The sulfur in thiamine is in a ring which does not trigger sulfa allergy like sulfites in a chain found in pharmaceuticals.  Doctors are not given sufficient education in nutrition (nor chemistry in this case).  I studied Nutrition before earning a degree in Microbiology.  I wanted to know what vitamins were doing inside the body.   Thiamine is safe and nontoxic even in high doses.   Not feeling well after starting Benfotiamine is normal.  It's called the "thiamine paradox" and is equivalent to an engine backfiring if it's not been cranked up for a while.  Mine went away in about three days.  I took a B Complex, magnesium and added molybdenum for a few weeks. It's important to add a B Complex with all eight essential B vitamins. Supplementing just one B vitamin can cause lows in some of the others and result in feeling worse, too.  Celiac Disease causes malabsorption of all the B vitamins, not just thiamine.  You need all eight.  Thiamine forms including Benfotiamine interact with each of the other B vitamins in some way.  It's important to add a magnesium glycinate or chelate supplement as well.  Forms of Thiamine including Benfotiamine need magnesium to make those life sustaining enzymes.  (Don't use magnesium oxide.  It's not absorbed well.  It pulls water into the intestines and is used to relieve constipation.)   Molybdenum is a trace mineral that helps the body utilize forms of Thiamine.   Molybdenum supplements are available over the counter.  It's not unusual to be low in molybdenum if low in thiamine.   I do hope you will add the necessary supplements and try Benfotiamine again. Science-y Explanation of Thiamine Paradox: https://hormonesmatter.com/paradoxical-reactions-with-ttfd-the-glutathione-connection/#google_vignette

Your goal is not to be a good puppet, there is no gain in that. You might want to restart the ones that helped.  It sounds more like you are suffering from malnutrition.  Gluten free foods are not fortified with things like Thiamine (B1), vitamin D, Iodine, B1,2,3,5,6 and 12 as non-gluten free products are required to be. There is a Catch-22 here.  Malnutrition can cause SIBO, and SIBO can worsen malnutrition. Another possibility is side effects from any medication that are taking.  I was on Metformin 3 months before it turned me into a zombi.  I had crippling side effects from most of the BP meds tried on me, and Losartan has many of the side effects on me from my pre gluten free days. Because you have been gluten free, you can test and talk until you are blue in the face but all of your tests will be negative.  Without gluten, you will not create the antigen against gluten, no antigens to gluten, so no small intestine damage from the antigens.  You will need to do a gluten challange to test positive if you need an official diagnosis, and even then, no guaranty: 10 g of gluten per day for 6 weeks! Then a full panel of Celiac tests and biopsy. At a minimum consider vitamin D, Liquid Iodine (unless you have dermatitis herpetiformis and iodine exasperates the rash), and Liquid Geritol. Push for vitamin D testing and a consult with a nutritionist experienced with Celiack Disease.  Most blood tests don't indicate nutritional deficiencies.  Your thyroid tests can be perfect, yet not indicate iodine deficiency for example.  Thiamine   test fine, but not pick up on beriberi.  Vegans are often B12 deficient because meat, fish, poultry, eggs, and dairy are the primary souces of B12. Here is what I take daily.  10,000 IU vitamin D3 750 mg g a b a [   ] 200 mg CoQ10 [   ] 100 mg DHEA [   ] 250 mg thiamine B1 [   ] 100 mg of B2 [   ] 500 mg B5 pantothenic acid [   ] 100 mg B6 [   ] 1000 micrograms B12 n [   ] 500 mg vitamin c [   ] 500 mg taurine [   ] 200 mg selenium

Hi…Just a note that if you have an allergy to sulfa it’s best not to take Benfotiamine. I bought a bottle and tried one without looking into it first and didn’t feel well.  I checked with my pharmacist and he said not to take it with a known sulfa allergy. I was really bummed because I thought it would help my energy level, but I was thankful I was given this info before taking more of it.
    • Wheatwacked
Hello @Scatterbrain, Are you getting enough vitamins and minerals.  Gluten free food is not fortified so you may be starting to run low on B vitamins and vitamin D.   By the way you should get your mom checked for celiac disease.  You got it from your mom or dad.  Some studies show that following a gluten-free diet can stabilize or improve symptoms of dementia.  I know that for the 63 years I was eating gluten I got dumber and dumber until I started GFD and vitamin replenishment and it began to reverse.  Thiamine can get used up in a week or two.  Symptoms can come and go with daily diet.  Symptoms of beriberi due to Thiamine deficiency.   Difficulty walking. Loss of feeling (sensation) in hands and feet. Loss of muscle function or paralysis of the lower legs. Mental confusion. Pain. Speech difficulties. Strange eye movements (nystagmus) Tingling. Any change in medications? Last March I had corotid artery surgery (90 % blockage), and I started taking Losartan for blood pressure, added to the Clonidine I was taking already.  I was not recovering well and many of my pre gluten free symptoms were back  I was getting worse.  At first I thought it was caused a reaction to the anesthesia from the surgery, but that should have improved after two weeks.  Doctor thought I was just being a wimp. After three months I talked to my doctor about a break from the Losartan to see if it was causing it. It had not made any difference in my bp.  Except for clonindine, all of the previous bp meds tried had not worked to lower bp and had crippling side effects. One, I could not stand up straight; one wobbly knees, another spayed feet.  Inguinal hernia from the Lisinopril cough.  Had I contiued on those, I was destined for a wheelchair or walker. She said the symptoms were not from Losartan so I continued taking it.  Two weeks later I did not have the strength in hips and thighs to get up from sitting on the floor (Help, I can't get up😨).  I stopped AMA (not recommended).  Without the Losartan, a) bp did not change, after the 72 hour withdrawal from Losartanon, on clonidine only and b) symptoms started going away.  Improvement started in 72 hours.  After six weeks they were gone and I am getting better.
