TRAITOR!!!!

How can you live with yourself?!?!?!

I know I am so ashamed :lol: EM might have to revoke that special cult founder's discount I've been getting LOL

This was just stricly liquid foundation, right?

Well my samples are powder, because that's the only way to sample the different shades, but (I think) I'm going to order some liquid if I find a good match. I'm not on the edge of my seat waiting for this order to arrive though. The Aubrey website just doesn't have the same effect as EM site. It's just not the same type of experience LOL

Well, as I am sure I am next in line for the biggest cult spender, you can go right on ahead and order some other brands because then maybe they'll give that cult founder discount to me. :P:lol: But, feel free to skip over my reply to the next quote. :P

 OMGosh, I have about 20 samples in my shopping cart over there. Haven't ordered anything yet though.

Ha, Mango (if you DIDN'T skip over that reply, lol), I haven't ACTUALLY put the order in. :P:lol:

Okay, I've been reading this thread for about a week now. I'm not really a make-up queen, usually wearing foundation and lip gloss only.

I guess I HAVE to try it. I've got my free sample kit loaded, but I don't have any brushes. Can you all tell me what brushes I need to have?

Julie, are you still with me. Our leaders are betraing us. I can't believe what I'm reading about liquid foundations. OMGosh!

Hi CheriA,

Glad your joining us! I'll just give you an idea what I use for what, but there are a list of brushes on EM with descriptions that might help you to choose.

For foundation I like the Premium Foundation Brush.

For eyeliner I bought the real thin eye liner brush, but it's not on the site right now.

For blush I'm using the Long Handled Kabuki and it is a bit big so the Baby Kabuki would probably work nicer. Anyone have it yet and can share?

I don't have an eye shadow or conceler brush yet so I'm winging it with those.

I really think good quality brushes and a brush for each application is important. It really makes a difference how the makeup goes on a looks.

Good luck, let us know what colors you picked out! :)

EDIT: Now that I've gone into detail about brushes I re-read your post and see you only wear foundation. In that case the Premium or Long Handled Kabuki. Now I guess you know how this thread got to be so long, lol!

Our EM religion is crumbling right before our eyes! They are being drawn to the dark side, dabbling in unsacred practices.....different brands, liquid foundation??

WELL, I never!!!!

OMgosh this thread gives me the giggles!

You know Donna and Mango I'm just giving you a hard time :D :D

Welcome Cheri!

I'm not really a make-up queen either, but it's great to find a line that is gluten-free, and free of so many other allergens, that doesn't irritate the skin AND it looks pretty darn good. Once you try it you just might be hooked!

I also would recommend a kabuki type brush to apply the foundation, it really blends the mineral make up into the skin really well and gives great coverage.

Yeah, I hate companies that use DHL and I can't figure why they do. With DHL you can pay for 2 day delivery however DHL won't guarantee 2 day delivery... if they don't guarantee it why am I paying for it? I guess they must be really cheap. I don't know for sure but I don't like them.

I paid for my second batch of make up to be shipped 2 day. That was 4 days ago and I leave on vacation Monday morning for 2 weeks. :(

No, no, no!!! I want EVERYONE to get their makeup FAST!!! I am so sad that some of you are waiting, waiting and waiting!

Okay, today's colors:

Okay, really one ONE color, lol. I'm pretty happy with the foundation, finishing powder and concealor, so that's all the same.

Blush: Favorite Hoodie! I think this may be my new f.....

j/k!!!

But seriously, I DO really like this. It was VERY scarey though when I tapped it out onto my margarine lid...it looked VERY dark and VERY brown, lol, but it's such a very nice subtle shade on...looks quite natural actually. I like it a lot, but not sure it outranks Pink Ribbon or Nick Nack as my favorite, lol. Up for tomorrow, New Car Smell.

Eye color: I have to say that I don't think I've found a color yet that just screams favorite. There are about 16 colors I have left to order, and I haven't tried all the colors I've ordered to far yet, but nothing so far has just really stood out as something I have to have. Today I'm wearing Oaisis as an all-over color, and I put a little Cypress near the lash line. Not bad, both are pretty subtle on me, so you really can't tell I'm even wearing eyeshadow...that was okay today because I didn't put on any other eye makeup, just really wanted to semi test the colors.

So, I'm having absolutely NO problem finding blush colors I love (I love all the colors I've tried so far, lol), but am having a hard time with the eye colors...hoping that that absolute favorite is in the next mini kit I order, lol. Otherwise, I may just have to defect to that other site for eye color. :P:lol:

Geez, some cult this is.....

We are nothing if some of our founding members are being brainwashed by other brands, and straying so quickly :lol::lol:

Well, I haven't actually PLACED an order with anyone else yet, lol. But is that the same thing as lusting after it in my mind?

I guess I HAVE to try it. I've got my free sample kit loaded, but I don't have any brushes. Can you all tell me what brushes I need to have?

Hey, welcome to the madness! If you've never used mineral makeup before I'd suggest the long handled kabuki at the EM site, or a similar type of brush made for mineral makeup. The premium foundation brush is good too. The EM brushes are good quality and are reasonably priced. I think the long handled Kabuki might be my favorite brush, lol. I use it for blush mostly, but if I didn't already have a brush that I got from BE years ago, I would have purchased another one for foundation.

EDIT: Now that I've gone into detail about brushes I re-read your post and see you only wear foundation. In that case the Premium or Long Handled Kabuki. Now I guess you know how this thread got to be so long, lol!

Well, I never!!! Harumph! j/k

Hi Cheri :)

I see you "caught the bug", too :D

I'm with everyone else--the kabuki brush is the best for foundation application. I have a short handled one that I bought elsewhere.

Have fun!

WELL, I never!!!!

 You guys are cracking me up!

Ya know what though, after the order I got last night, I think I am back to being a bonafide member of the cult. I was going to take a picture of it just to show you guys how crazy it was (quantity-wise lol) but my camera batteries died. <_<

Here's what I'm wearing today:

Pressed powder in Fair Pink:

I thought multi-tasking was my perfect match, but this one is even better. I think I love this stuff . It's full coverage foundation, and it goes on really nicely with the flat top brush. The only thing I don't like is it has a slight smell to it (kind of like a new car, funnily enough). I'll have to see it how stays on throughout the day.

Pink Ribbon:

Love this! It's light and pretty and not orange :D

DVR Pink on my lips:

Very pretty...kind of like photo album but lighter and pinker.

Smokey Pink and Camomile on my eyes:

Love these. Smokey Pink is actually a bit purple-ish and Camomile is a really nice gold highlighter. They are both really subtle and natural looking.

Natural face color:

This actually has a nice bronzing/skin evening-out effect.

Light Pink Blush:

I put this over the Pink Ribbon just to brighten up my face a bit.

Okay well that's today....tomorrow I will have a whole different look :lol::lol:

I tested all the colors on my hand when I first opened the box, mainly b/c I didn't know what else to do with it all LOL. I really really love Starry Eyed. It's really georgous. I think Samba Lessons is a nice dark brown as well.

I don't remember what else I have, but I'll post more reviews as I try stuff lol.

pixiegirl Enthusiast

How does the pink on your eyes look? I never look good with that Im a blonde with sort of bloodshot eyes (contacts) and when I put pink on my lid I feel like it looks like I have pink eye! I'm too heavy handed I guess.

Now this is interesting to me. I was staying away from the blushes that mentioned brown, or a hint of brown. Maybe they desreve a look? Maybe I am overlooking and passing up GREAT colors?

I am thinking about trial sizes in order to try all the colors, I wonder how much they are going to be???

Otherwise, I may just have to defect to that other site for eye color. :P:lol:

Just some useless ramblings and factoids

I figured out that there are 30 more eye colors to order...13 of those are already in my cart, so amongst all of that I should surely find my perfect colors, lol. I also have a lot left to try at home...probably at least 11 that I haven't even opened yet. And, I need to revisit a lot of the ones I've already tried. I hardly wear the full eye makeup anymore so it's hard to fit them all in, lol.

I've received 9 blushes, tried 8 of them and loved all 8, lol. New Car Smell is the only one I haven't tried...that's up tomorrow. Think so far, Pink Ribbon is still my favorite.

Hi @Scatterbrain Thank you for your reply.   Some of these things could be weaknesses, also triggered by stress, which perhaps have come about as the result of long-term deficiencies which can take a long time to correct.   Some could be completely unrelated. If it is of help, I'll tell you some of the things that started in the first year or two, following my diagnosis - I pinned everything on coeliac disease, but it turns out I wasn't always right!  Dizziness, lightheaded - I was eventually diagnosed with cervical dizziness (worth googling, could be your issue too, also if you have neck pain?)  A few months after diagnosis I put my neck out slightly carrying my seven-year-old above my head, and never assigned any relevance to it as the pain at the time was severe but so short-lived that I'd forgotten the connection. Jaw pain - stress. Tinnitus - I think stress, but perhaps exacerbated by iron/vitamin deficiencies. Painful ribs and sacroiliac joints - no idea, bloating made the pain worse. It got really bad but then got better. Irregular heart rate - could be a coincidence but my sister (not a coeliac) and I both developed this temporarily after our second Astra Zeneca covid jabs.   Subsequent Pfizer jabs didn't affect us. Brain fog - a big thing for people with certain autoimmune issues but in my case I think possibly worse when my iron or B12 are low, but I have no proof of this. Insomnia - stress, menopause. So basically, it isn't always gluten.  It might be worth having your vitamins and mineral levels checked, and if you have deficiencies speak to your Dr about how better to address them?

@NanceK, I do have Hypersensitivity Type Four reaction to Sulfa drugs, a sulfa allergy.  Benfotiamine and other forms of Thiamine do not bother me at all.  There's sulfur in all kinds of Thiamine, yet our bodies must have it as an essential nutrient to make life sustaining enzymes.  The sulfur in thiamine is in a ring which does not trigger sulfa allergy like sulfites in a chain found in pharmaceuticals.  Doctors are not given sufficient education in nutrition (nor chemistry in this case).  I studied Nutrition before earning a degree in Microbiology.  I wanted to know what vitamins were doing inside the body.   Thiamine is safe and nontoxic even in high doses.   Not feeling well after starting Benfotiamine is normal.  It's called the "thiamine paradox" and is equivalent to an engine backfiring if it's not been cranked up for a while.  Mine went away in about three days.  I took a B Complex, magnesium and added molybdenum for a few weeks. It's important to add a B Complex with all eight essential B vitamins. Supplementing just one B vitamin can cause lows in some of the others and result in feeling worse, too.  Celiac Disease causes malabsorption of all the B vitamins, not just thiamine.  You need all eight.  Thiamine forms including Benfotiamine interact with each of the other B vitamins in some way.  It's important to add a magnesium glycinate or chelate supplement as well.  Forms of Thiamine including Benfotiamine need magnesium to make those life sustaining enzymes.  (Don't use magnesium oxide.  It's not absorbed well.  It pulls water into the intestines and is used to relieve constipation.)   Molybdenum is a trace mineral that helps the body utilize forms of Thiamine.   Molybdenum supplements are available over the counter.  It's not unusual to be low in molybdenum if low in thiamine.   I do hope you will add the necessary supplements and try Benfotiamine again. Science-y Explanation of Thiamine Paradox: https://hormonesmatter.com/paradoxical-reactions-with-ttfd-the-glutathione-connection/#google_vignette

Your goal is not to be a good puppet, there is no gain in that. You might want to restart the ones that helped.  It sounds more like you are suffering from malnutrition.  Gluten free foods are not fortified with things like Thiamine (B1), vitamin D, Iodine, B1,2,3,5,6 and 12 as non-gluten free products are required to be. There is a Catch-22 here.  Malnutrition can cause SIBO, and SIBO can worsen malnutrition. Another possibility is side effects from any medication that are taking.  I was on Metformin 3 months before it turned me into a zombi.  I had crippling side effects from most of the BP meds tried on me, and Losartan has many of the side effects on me from my pre gluten free days. Because you have been gluten free, you can test and talk until you are blue in the face but all of your tests will be negative.  Without gluten, you will not create the antigen against gluten, no antigens to gluten, so no small intestine damage from the antigens.  You will need to do a gluten challange to test positive if you need an official diagnosis, and even then, no guaranty: 10 g of gluten per day for 6 weeks! Then a full panel of Celiac tests and biopsy. At a minimum consider vitamin D, Liquid Iodine (unless you have dermatitis herpetiformis and iodine exasperates the rash), and Liquid Geritol. Push for vitamin D testing and a consult with a nutritionist experienced with Celiack Disease.  Most blood tests don't indicate nutritional deficiencies.  Your thyroid tests can be perfect, yet not indicate iodine deficiency for example.  Thiamine   test fine, but not pick up on beriberi.  Vegans are often B12 deficient because meat, fish, poultry, eggs, and dairy are the primary souces of B12. Here is what I take daily.  10,000 IU vitamin D3 750 mg g a b a [   ] 200 mg CoQ10 [   ] 100 mg DHEA [   ] 250 mg thiamine B1 [   ] 100 mg of B2 [   ] 500 mg B5 pantothenic acid [   ] 100 mg B6 [   ] 1000 micrograms B12 n [   ] 500 mg vitamin c [   ] 500 mg taurine [   ] 200 mg selenium

Hi…Just a note that if you have an allergy to sulfa it’s best not to take Benfotiamine. I bought a bottle and tried one without looking into it first and didn’t feel well.  I checked with my pharmacist and he said not to take it with a known sulfa allergy. I was really bummed because I thought it would help my energy level, but I was thankful I was given this info before taking more of it.
    • Wheatwacked
Hello @Scatterbrain, Are you getting enough vitamins and minerals.  Gluten free food is not fortified so you may be starting to run low on B vitamins and vitamin D.   By the way you should get your mom checked for celiac disease.  You got it from your mom or dad.  Some studies show that following a gluten-free diet can stabilize or improve symptoms of dementia.  I know that for the 63 years I was eating gluten I got dumber and dumber until I started GFD and vitamin replenishment and it began to reverse.  Thiamine can get used up in a week or two.  Symptoms can come and go with daily diet.  Symptoms of beriberi due to Thiamine deficiency.   Difficulty walking. Loss of feeling (sensation) in hands and feet. Loss of muscle function or paralysis of the lower legs. Mental confusion. Pain. Speech difficulties. Strange eye movements (nystagmus) Tingling. Any change in medications? Last March I had corotid artery surgery (90 % blockage), and I started taking Losartan for blood pressure, added to the Clonidine I was taking already.  I was not recovering well and many of my pre gluten free symptoms were back  I was getting worse.  At first I thought it was caused a reaction to the anesthesia from the surgery, but that should have improved after two weeks.  Doctor thought I was just being a wimp. After three months I talked to my doctor about a break from the Losartan to see if it was causing it. It had not made any difference in my bp.  Except for clonindine, all of the previous bp meds tried had not worked to lower bp and had crippling side effects. One, I could not stand up straight; one wobbly knees, another spayed feet.  Inguinal hernia from the Lisinopril cough.  Had I contiued on those, I was destined for a wheelchair or walker. She said the symptoms were not from Losartan so I continued taking it.  Two weeks later I did not have the strength in hips and thighs to get up from sitting on the floor (Help, I can't get up😨).  I stopped AMA (not recommended).  Without the Losartan, a) bp did not change, after the 72 hour withdrawal from Losartanon, on clonidine only and b) symptoms started going away.  Improvement started in 72 hours.  After six weeks they were gone and I am getting better.
