ARCHIVED Receptionist Phone Ettiquette
cyclinglady replied to CK1901's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
I agree with Karen. At the companies I worked at, you can never disclose anything about a current or past employee. That is a lawsuit just waiting to happen. Oh, that includes references! By the way I was stalked. A security guard broke into the HR files and preceding to call me, mail me and even broke into my car and took just my CDs (though I could... -
Gentle exercise is helpful for those with fibromyalgia. It can help with depression too -- because it is really depressing to have it! My mom's weirdest symptom is feeling cold inside and piling on the blankets does not help. Happens at the same time of day (around noon). She gets most of her work done first thing in the morning. Naps help as well....

ARCHIVED Easy Christmas Cake
cyclinglady replied to Zebra007's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I never have used an enhancer. Must be the same stuff that is in Twinkies! Rumor has it that they can last a decade or more! Commercial bakers need a long shelf life, but I prefer to eat most thing right out of the oven or I freeze it. Need more moisture? Add more oil or butter. I just found the recipe online for the Log/roll for easy reference... -
So sorry to hear that. My Mom has had it for 15 years. I know it is very painful and frustrating as the pain moves around and never makes any sense.

ARCHIVED Is Marmite Spread Gluten Free?
cyclinglady replied to cristiana's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Thanks for sharing. I discovered that when we bought a jar for a Girl Scout meeting. The girls selected Australia for our International fair. I did not get to sample it unfortunately. -

ARCHIVED Endoscopy Biopsy Results Were "could Reflect Mild Celiac Sprue"?
cyclinglady replied to mandykeily's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Get copies of your tests. Maybe they did not do a complete celiac panel. I only tested positive (3/2013) in one of the least popular celiac disease tests to give. My hubby went gluten free per the bad advice of his GP and my allergist (no testing). It was a miracle (one of his symptoms was snoring)! He did that 13 years ago. No doctor suspected... -
ARCHIVED Endoscopy
cyclinglady replied to mommy-6's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Who knows? The medical community is still researching celiac disease. They used to think that just little kids had it and some doctors still think that. Sounds like you should ALSO have a colonoscopy to rule out any secondary issues. My husband had been gluten free for 12 years when I went in for a routine colonoscopy (hit that big 5-0!). During... -
ARCHIVED Endoscopy
cyclinglady replied to mommy-6's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Here is a link to the University of Chicago's celiac website regarding symptoms: Open Original Shared Link You probably have several and do not even know it. You simply just got used to them. Anemia was my main symptom. Two months after my diagnosis, my bones starting breaking. You have a positive celiac blood panel. Your GI should order an endoscopy... -
ARCHIVED Lemon Poppy Pound Cake
cyclinglady replied to CK1901's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Glad you had success! It should freeze well if packed correctly. You bring the cake and I'll make a pot of tea. We can relax on my front porch (it is still sunny and warm here!) -
ARCHIVED Mi-Del Graham Cracker Crusts
cyclinglady replied to BlessedMommy's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Nope, but i am not the type to buy a pre-made shell. There is a good gluten-free graham cracker crumb brand out in the market. I use that for my cheesecakes (baked and no-bake versions). -
ARCHIVED 3.5 Year Old Test Results, New Issues, Food Allergies? Ugh.
cyclinglady replied to omgmegg's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I got that he was not eating gluten prior to getting the celiac test (or only eating tiny amounts). That would make the celiac test invalid. Here is a link to the University of Chicago's celiac website. It contains testing information and information on symptoms, etc. Open Original Shared Link Search through our DH (rash) section on this forum for... -
Research online. There are many reasons for a significant change in body odor or bad breath but going gluten free is not one of them. Good luck!

ARCHIVED Progresso Soup Has Gluten! Even If It Says Gluten Free?
cyclinglady replied to valentina's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
My neighbor, hubby and I eat these soups without issue. They are nice to have on hand or for camping. We have not been glutened and my husband has been gluten-free for 13 years (I am almost two years into this....) On the Chicken Corn Chowder, the label clearly states that it contains milk, soy and egg ingredients. There is no wheat mentioned, therefore... -

ARCHIVED Easy Christmas Cake
cyclinglady replied to Zebra007's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
What about a Christmas Yule log? Got a jelly roll pan? We made gluten-free pumpkin rolls using the standard Libbey's Pumpkin recipe off the can and it was yummy! Here is a chocolate one, but I would sub out the white frosting for a chocolate one decorated with shaved chocolate, piped holly to make it look like a log. Open Original Shared Link -
I am pretty sure it is not related to being gluten free. He must have some underlying medical condition (e.g. Liver, kidney, diabetes), excess weight, or eating spicy foods (that includes Brussel sprouts, broccoli and not just garlic), etc. What did he start eating more of when he gave up gluten? Too much meat? My hubby and i do not have this issue...

ARCHIVED A Week To Feel Glutened?
cyclinglady replied to SanFranGirl's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Everyone is different. I just had anemia when I was diagnosed. I was a little anxious and crazy, but I was going through menopause at the same time! My antibodies were barely positive yet my endoscopy/biopsy revealed moderate to severe damage. Your body may take take time to ramp up and produce antibodies. I never had a follow up blood test because... -
ARCHIVED Osteopenia A Year And A Half After gluten-free
cyclinglady replied to CajunChic's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Per my GP/PCP doctor, if you have had breaks, the dx of osteopenia is redefined as osteoporosis. I had vertebrae fractures (doing nothing) three months into my celiac disease diagnosis. I was a Marsh Stage IIIB, but really what does that mean? I probably have sections where I have complete villi blunting. The intestinal wall is vast. The same might be...
