  1. Hi Looking for Answers - sorry to interrupt - but I just had to tell you I think your muscle thing under your eye is very much like my problem. Mine probably would have got better by now but I ate a gluten cookie by mistake that really set it off one day. I do get pain, twitching, a light tingling on the apple of my cheek - on the whole it isn't getting...
  2. What it can capture is if you have thyroid nodules. I had a C-Spine MRI which showed them present. They then had to be investigated by ultrasound and samples were taken with a fine needle to check they were benign. If someone has had other thyroid difficulties revealed by MRI perhaps they can chime in.
  3. That is a very good point PCB... I should tag my next contribution so it appears when these experts search the net for answers. I shall have a look. Thanks.
  4. I had a temporary dairy intolerance which meant that even a few weeks after DX and going gluten-free milk went 'straight through me' and I had stomach pains and D. During those early days I still found small quantities of hard cheese tolerable though and tried to get my calcium through other sources. Now my villi are healed - well I believe they must...
  5. That is such a good idea re: antibodies. My consultant just monitors my liver function tests and iron - I should request that test, too. TBH, there is always room for improvement when it comes to my lifestyle - I don't eat out anymore but I think possibly our shared oven at home and shared pans are a problem. Thanks for your kind words.
  6. It is good you have a plan. I lost about six to eight pounds when my D started, in a very short time, then stabilised for a few months but the weight then crept up again slowly once gluten-free and now I am on a diet trying to lose what I have gained since healing! To be honest I didn't feel too ill at DX with stomach pains etc, my thing was wondering...
  7. Maddi, I am so sorry for all you are going through. I have to say I am no expert on the readings and what to do if one doesn't show as positive - maybe someone else can chime in - but it does sound like you are going to have to keep going back to the medical profession if you want answers. Although my own readings were in fact through the roof when I was...
  8. Hi Maddi I had neurological symptoms before my gastro symptoms really came to the fore. I had suffered migraines for years which latterly became visual auras. I don't have them now since being gluten-free (Spring 2013). I am still bothered by buzzing and tingles in the extremities and when that happens I take a B12 supplement which seems to help (my...
  9. Glad to have been of help. Just make sure that if you take any supplements they don't contain gluten!
  10. I know this I angled at young people - which I am not (in my 40s) but since diagnosis and going gluten-free my night vision when I drive has definitely improved. I told my optician who was at a loss but I was given a pretty heavy duty multivitamin to take when I was first recovering so maybe there was something in that. I imagine certain vitamin deficiencies...
  11. Hello twin, that's brilliant news!
  12. Commiserations. I was told to take amytriptelene or lyrica to help with pain that followed but didn't - but hopefully you won't have that problem, everyone's experience is different. I found rest the best medicine. xx
  13. Hi Joshua I wonder have you had your iron and B12 levels checked? If not please do. I was low in both and believe you me, these deficiencies can make you feel anxious and things just don't seem or look right - I experienced so many of these symptoms. I then worried about how I felt and it just made things even worse. I am thankful I found the Anxiety...
  14. Also meant to say, try to get plenty of rest. My nutritionalist said it important to try not to get 'run down' if one is prone to shingles.
  15. Hi nvsmom. I think I had it. I had a burning sensation from my spine to the left rib and it hurt and itched for a year under the skin but there was actually no rash - yes, shingles without a rash seemingly exists! My brother in law who is a GP diagnosed me although my own GP thought it was to do with a trapped nerve in the back. Then I had tests and...
  16. Kittylover - sorry you haven't got the answers yet but that is great news about Dr Fasano. I hope you get the answers you are after then. I do sympathise as for me my continuing neuro issues are amongst my most vexing symptoms although yesterday I suddenly realised that the tingling I have been experiencing on and off since DX in my left calf has finally...
  17. Hi Ashley Firstly, welcome to the forum. Sympathies too - I too have gained weight - I am now 14 pounds more than I was at diagnosis two years ago and if things carry on, well who knows. I am still just within the healthy BMI but compared with my weight two years ago I feel bigger than I should be, esp. as long before my DX and two pregnancies...
  18. You might have something called ulnar compression - my hands and fingers are sometimes numb when I wake up (plus tingle during the day sometimes). The nerve conduction study will find that out for you. I go through periods of patches of tingling on my arm, face and legs and stress seems to set it off. I am sure it is either deficiency or too much of one...
  19. Hi tpchan I am afraid I don't understand all these different tests but I do know that a lot of UK GPs have been sent info on this site - see link. Open Original Shared Link If it suggests any tests that you haven't had, it might be worth showing to a doctor and having another try. But maybe you are looking for tests outside the NICE recommendations...
  20. My friend's daughter has a gluten intolerance and had someone make her a croquembouche for her wedding, which I understand is often used as a wedding cake in France. I have never tried cooking choux pastry with gluten-free flour but found it easy with normal flour. Maybe something to try!
  21. Poor you - I hope you are feeling better soon. I don't know any flight attendants personally with celiac disease but there was a case in the British press once when one was glutened. I think BA will be taking things more seriously from now on! Open Original Shared Link
  22. I found this from Coeliac UK - we add an 'o' in the UK and I am still not sure why! It doesn't seem necessary! Open Original Shared Link My own nutritionalist said it was worth waiting 6-12 months after taking up gluten free diet so that when oats are introduced it will be obvious if there are problems. It will also have given your tummy time to...
  23. I got really sick before I was diagnosed with celiac disease two years ago. I never want to feel like that again! That has made me so very resolute - unlike a friend of mine, who takes quite a lot of risks, but she was never as ill as I was. I worry about her as I feel that she is courting danger with her lax attitude. I do wonder if I had never been...
  24. It must be very frustrating. I really hope you can get the injections soon - in the meantime, I gather orange juice with the tablets might help with the take up. Might be worth a try.
  25. Hi again Kerrygirl. I have been told that iron anemia can be responsible for hair loss. I certainly lost a lot when I was anemic, I got quite a shock when I saw how much I had lost. It has got better - although I never had the thickest hair in the first place, but definitely, there has been an improvement.
