Mistakes Restaurants Make In Gluten-Free Dining
Ennis-TX commented on Janice Schroeder's article in Spring 2019 Issue
Different protein, it does not trigger celiac disease. Corn Gluten is different than wheat, barley, rye gluten, the amino acids composing wheat, barley and rye are very similar (oats are close), but corn and rice gluten has a different structure. Some people also have issues with it but the gut and autoimmune damage is not present. IE I got an allergy to...- 16 comments

I use it for anxiety and depression...I was on it when I was last exposed and it did not stop the vomiting, D, and ataxia. While it can be useful for anxiety, depression, nervous issues, and pain, it does not slow down, or stop the damage gluten does to a person with celiac. You might be numbing yourself from it but your immune system will still be destroying...

Trouble shopping
Ennis-TX replied to mbrookes's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I have a list and many places with a * by them you can order from, I need to update it a bit as a few just started shipping. Also, try Thrive Market, they have a yearly membership but low price. You can choose gluten-free when you search their site they have a HUGE selection. http://thrv.me/gf25 https://www.celiac.com/forums/topic/123298-gluten-free-food... -
Yeah, I had to go totally gluten-free house after diagnosis. The sensitivity was insane, and I kept getting other food intolerances and sensitivities when this was happening and it confused the frack out of me. Like all of a sudden, I was in pain and vomiting from soy, peanuts, peas, olives, sesame, etc. Keep a food diary also, this way you can learn if you...

Mistakes Restaurants Make In Gluten-Free Dining
Ennis-TX commented on Janice Schroeder's article in Spring 2019 Issue
First few years of no dairy was a huge issues...do not get me started on the corn allergy, I grew up adopted into a house with a Hispanic mother. Nowadays I just replace all butter with Nutiva Butter flavored coconut oil in recipes. AND I am so addicted to cheese that I make my own nut-based cheese blends at least every other week. Look up the vegan cheese...- 16 comments

I use Real-Zymes, they make them in ratios for different diets. I also sometimes use EzymePedia, They have a lipase blend I use with I eat a bit heavy. I also take Jarrow Enzymes which are actual porcine pancreas enzymes. The ones your using, I would contact them and ask what medium was used to make the enzymes. The nima I do not think can test a "enzyme...

Mistakes Restaurants Make In Gluten-Free Dining
Ennis-TX commented on Janice Schroeder's article in Spring 2019 Issue
I have a corn allergy, and Celiac....very different reactions. Corn "gluten" is a different protein chain and does not trigger celiac disease. BUT it is very common for celiacs to have other food intolerance, sensitivities, or allergies. IE Dairy, Soy, Peanuts, Corn, Nightshades, Legumes, etc. Like you, I hate the lack of true "Paleo" options that...- 16 comments

Read the Newbie 101 section for some pointers, you will have to clean out contaminated condiment jars, and spices, toss scratched pots, wooden utensils, colanders, cutting boards etc. https://www.celiac.com/forums/topic/91878-newbie-info-101/ Rice, you need to spread it out on some white paper when dry and check it all for foreign grains, then wash...

The white distilled vinegar is probably made from wheat but gluten free..IE distilled. Soy is gluten-free, but many celiacs get soy intolerance (I did). Dairy intolerance issues are also common with celiac. Kraft is normally very good about listing Gluten IF you need a grain free vinegar, dairy free, and soy free lookup Primal Kitchen https://www...

Mobile app for supporting celiac disease patients
Ennis-TX replied to SaraE's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
As everyone is different with this disease and other issues a custom app might be appealing. Few ideas Add in an Intolerance/Sensitivity/Allergy page for the "Supporters". Many of us get various food intolerance issues and have a whole list of foods we can not have, some we can not have even contact with, and even have allergic reactions to. So a 3 stage...- 1 reply

Advice please...
Ennis-TX replied to Johna1's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Everyone is different, the diets that work for people depend on genetics (where you ancestors came from can determine what foods are easier for your ), gut flora, metabolism, etc. For me paleo based, with atkins/keto macros addressed my AI issues and allergies. I have a few recipes on my recipe blog where I play with ideas. I also have a post with various... -
I would suggest digestive enzymes, I cannot digest meat or fatty foods without them. Meat is really slow to go through the GI tract for some people and hard to break down. It can "rot" in some peoples with the right bacteria and bog you down. I found the only way I tolerate meat is taking very high-end enzymes in proportion to what I eat. https://www.celiac...

Residue from a glass used by a gluten eater, flour dust on veggies, a tiny bit of residue in a scratch on a pan....these can make is deathly ill. Everyone is different on how severe the body reacts, and sometimes it can be worse than others. Fact is with celiac your body treats gluten like a foreign invader or a germ...but goes a bit ape sh1t and tosses...

Advice please...
Ennis-TX replied to Johna1's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Go a bit easier on the gluten free cereals and bread, most are just starch carb bombs, mix with high sugar fruits, and that probiotic your taking is going to lead to an overgrowth of bacteria. Try to keep your fruits down to 1 serving a day, or less. It might be natural sugar, but it is still sugar. Try more protein and fats, with added fibers. For nuts... -
Celiac and type 1 diabetes
Ennis-TX replied to Fbmb's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I think this varies greatly, with factors including diet, activity levels, and genetics. I have the gene for T1, the same gene gave me celiac, and UC, and might give me RA (https://www.snpedia.com/index.php/Rs6822844). Not been tested for diabetes, in over 2 years. Many celiacs mess up, they try to keep bread, pizza, pasta, noodles, etc a staple in... -
Well good luck, I started trying to make my own years ago. Started with buying a new meat grinder and modifying the plates, and then smoothing the paste with a food processor. I then invested in large granite stone mill and mill and make artisan butter to sell to people lol. Funny I make almond butter that is sugar free but taste like cheesecake, cinnamon...

Well, Jiff is supposed to be on the safe list. I get vomiting with peanuts, or even peanut oil traces. PS Peanut butter is not paleo. Try using almond butter (Barney Butter is gluten-free certified) or using SunButter and see how it changes.

A better description could help with identifying it IE location, does pressure hurt more, do certain positions alleviate it. I would say go to the ER and have it checked if it happens again. Repetitive or long-lasting pain should be addressed immediately. The worse case could be cancer, appendicitis, pancreatitis, blocked duct, issues with gall bladder,...

I used to have these weird "Hyde Mode" reactions where I would get angry when exposed. I also had looping maddening thoughts, numbness in my hands/feet, this weird burning needles sensation in my back/arms/legs/chest. Most, I think was attributed to nutrient deficiencies related to the damage like B-vitamins, magnesium, etc. But some were related to gluten...

Yeah I did whole lot of research on it after this on the insulin and glucagon and how you can make glucagon the dominant hormone to have your body use fatty acids for fuel. BUT your liver will still be processing glycogen into glucose as a response to prevent glucose from tanking. All this time insulin is still needed for your bodies cells to utilize the...

Down to 1x 20mg a day or once every other day and 1x 150 ranitidine twice a day. Big step down over hte last year with the Nexium I was on 2x 40mg a day.

Look up Nuco Coconut Wraps, Thrive Market Coconut Wraps, and Julian Bakery Paleo Wraps. I think RAW wraps might be up there too but I just stick to the coconut ones, you have to have them a bit above room temp to be pliable but they work.

Might consider extra thiamine taken at night when I am normally fasting to reset my gut. Nuts/seeds are my #1 calorie intake, my primary source of fats, and fiber. I get extra protein from egg whites and 2-4 scoops of pea protein (high in iron and easier to digest than meat) I am on 3000-4000iu of Vitamin D once daily right now, should I consider...

In tears....:(
Ennis-TX replied to Laurel F's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Looks like a positive celiac diagnosis if I read right. Those with DH have less damage to the intestines and lower IgA due to the antibodies in the skin. BUT HERE it is so bad you still have slightly elevated IgA and early sprue damage from celiac at. Celiac Sprue. IE they diagnosed you back in 09 Check the newbie 101 section in coping, drop all dairy...
