Lays is selling chocolate covered wavy lays at Target for a "limited time only" and, well, that sounds delicious, so I wrote them asking about gluten content since it was not on their list.  Thought I would share with you guys the response I got from the company.  

 

"There are no gluten ingredients in Lay's Wavy Milk Chocolate Potato Chips."

 

According to their gluten-free list (Open Original Shared Link), here is what that means in regards to their products:

 

"The Frito-Lay products listed below do not contain wheat, rye, barley or oat ingredients (we include oats in this list as a precaution as oats are often commingled with gluten-containing grains).  Please note however, some of the products listed below may be manufactured on the same lines as products that contain gluten.  Although our lines are cleaned between production runs, Frito-Lay has not tested these products for gluten content and the ingredients in these products may have come into contact with gluten-containing products prior to manufacturing.  Individuals who are sensitive to gluten should take these factors into consideration in consuming these products."

 

Also note this info is for the US only.

 

So same category as Doritos.  I think I will pick some up to try.

At the mall Friday night I noticed a candy shop was doing chocolate covered... everything. They had chips and bacon and other stuff but whatever. I almost went in for bacon. Almost. My husband also thinks it's weird. At least I know he won't take them. :D

I've always been interested in the chocolate covered chips - I can't remember why I never tried them! If I liked bacon I would definitely try the chocolate covered bacon. Chocolate can make (almost) anything taste better. Have you tried chocolate covered sunflower seeds? I think they're called Sundrops. They're really good, but idk if they're gluten free..hmm.

I hope they are good!  I have made potato chip cookies before and always thought they needed to be chocolate coated.  (You might think the sound of it sounds gross, but I tell you YUM!)

I think Lays finally realized how good it is to dip French fries in a Chocolate shake :D  The potato/choco combo can't be beat.

i want to try them - they probly have soy (lecithin in the chocolate), and soy hates me  :)  here is one of my favorites since sometimes i have to forego the chocolate:  sliced apples, dipped in caramel, and crushed potato chips.  eat immediately.  

 

i would, however, suffer through the soy if the potato chips weren't soggish.....  do i dare to get my hopes up???  :D

lolz, barty!   (was it very rare?  or marinated?)  i have ever had fish with white chocolate sauce and it was surprisingly delicious...  if i make that for the hubs he might have a heart attack ("WHY in the WORLD would you ruin that steak??!!")  if he could slice it right off the cow and cook it over an open fire with a stick, he would.  chocolate on precious red meat might land me in the street LOLZ   :lol:

Mine was rare, and not marinated with anything. I had a friend over and we cooked the steaks on the grill. He was done eating before I was, so I ran into the kitchen and made the hot fudge sundaes we were having for dessert before I had finished my steak. I came back to the dining room. There was the steak, and there was the hot fudge, and I thought, "Why not?"

 

If your husband would have a fit over it, just let him watch YOU try it. Have the fudge heated and sitting in a bowl. Cut a bite-sized piece of steak, and just dip it in the fudge. When he sees the look on your face and hears the "WOW!", he might just dip a bite of his own.

 

I'm %1,000 serious. It is an even better taste combination than peanut butter and chocolate. It truly is one of the best things I have ever tasted! And NOW you've got me thinking about white chocolate and fish. I am going to look for some corn-free white chocolate, and the next time I go to Rapid for fish, I WILL be trying it.

Well, not the white chocolate part. I got into an "argument" about white chocolate with a Teavana guy Monday night at the mall. I told him finally that white chocolate is a lie. (because there is no chocolate in it) With nothing intelligent left to say he said "you're a lie!" Bahahaha. The whole thing was hysterical. Maybe you had to be there. Anyway, I don't understand the white chocolate thing because well... it's a lie. It. Isn't. Chocolate!!!!

 

Chocolate and steak though? I'm signed up!

Oooh! I just had an idea. Fondue! Put the hot fudge in your fondue pot, cook some steak, some crispy bacon, have some oranges sectioned, maybe some roasted broccoli, some Kettle chips or french fries, and whatever else you can think of. Invite some friends over. B)

      You're welcome! Be sure the patient eats at least ten grams of gluten per day for a minimum of two weeks prior to repeating antibody testing.   Some people unconsciously reduce the amount of gluten in their diet because the feel unwell.  Three grams of gluten per day is sufficient to produce symptoms.  Only at ten grams or more is the immune system provoked to raise the antibody production high enough so that the antibodies leave the digestive tract and enter the blood stream where they can be measured.   Read the comments below the article...

      Thanks for your response and thoughts. Total IgA is normal. HLA DQ2/DQ8 came as heterozygous and the interpretation of the lab that the risk of coeliac disease is mild to moderate. Thyroid function test is normal. I agree that the best way is to repeat tTG antibodies in 6 months time as the result was not massively high.

      Welcome to the forum, @Wamedh Taj-Aldeen, How is the patient's thyroid?   You could check for thiamine deficiency which can cause the thyroid to either become hyper or hypo.  TTg IgA can be high in both hyperthyroidism and hypothyroidism.  tTg IgA can also be high if patient is taking medications to stimulate the thyroid as in hypothyroidism.   Thanks for visiting!  Keep us posted!

      Welcome to the forum, @Rejoicephd, I found the Autoimmune Protocol diet (Dr. Sarah Ballantyne) extremely helpful in getting my health back.  The AIP diet is very strict, removing any possibly irritating foods and allowing time for the digestive tract to heal, then other foods are added back in with less risk of reaction.   Keep us posted on your progress!

      Hello, @Cat M, welcome to the forum! I noticed you are low in ferritin and thiamine as well as other nutritional deficiencies already.  Deficiencies in iron and thiamine affect your body's ability to make antibodies.  Since you do have symptoms, nutritional deficiencies evidence of malabsorption, MTHFR and one celiac gene,  I'm suspecting you do have Celiac disease.   Can you consult a gastroenterologist?  Or ask your doctor to do so.   Gluten Sensitivity can be a precursor of Celiac disease in people with Celiac genes.  Since you've already got symptoms of Celiac disease and evidence malabsorption, an endoscopy with biopsies would be beneficial.   It's can be so frustrating getting a diagnosis because doctors are not familiar with Celiac disease.  Sending you encouragement! Keep us posted on your progress!
