This may not be that great to others.. but my baby.. my little little baby, started feeding himself today!!! He started feeding himself Cero's cinnamon flavor last week. Tonight I made him nini's chicken in nugget form with green beans.. I gave him a fork and he put it in his mouth! We had a bit of trouble at first getting it back out (he didnt pick up on that right away) then suddenly he just got it!! I am sooo happy.

Most of you know Colin was born severly premature, so he is really behind cognitively than other babies his age. He is now 18 months, he doesnt walk or talk yet... and now he is just beginning to feed himself!!

Thanks for letting me share!! I needed to tell everyone.. I think I am on my way to my rooftop to shout it over the neighborhood!!!

That is soooo wonderful......one day you will wish he would be quiet for just a second!!!Colin is darling &he looks like he's well on his way to catching up. The first step is always the hardest. My friend's baby was a premature & he blossomed after he made the initial step-- in school & is a bit smaller than other kids but his learning skills are the same as others.

Way to go Colin!!!!!

Congrats!!!!

I have to say, I fed my friends baby at her sisters wedding while she was running around taking pictures, and OMG, I couldn't believe how long it took. This kid has some appetite, but ofcourse you have to make everything in the smallest pieces. I think I spent 30 mins. feeding her. LOL!!!

So big congrats!!

(Ok, I know that's not why you're excited about it, but at the time when I was feeding her baby I remember thinking, wow if I were a parent, I would be praying for the day they can feed themself).

That is great news! You're little guy will catch up at his own pace. I bet you are soooo proud of him right now. I to have a preemie due to celiac. Our daughter was a 29 weeker now only wieghing 14 lbs at 1 yr...she has just started crawling. She is feeding herself some finger foods but still doesn't eat anything out of a bottle so she has a tube in her tummy to feed her. It is amazing how the little things with these guys are so signifacant. All the way allong being able to hold them to everything else seemed so much more significant with our preemie than with our first. Enjoy every milestone with your little mircle!!! As he gets ready our daughters favorite finger foods are the arrowroot cookies by midel...they're gluten free and shredded cheese. Congrats again on your little guys big milestone this week.....!!!

Yea Colin!!!!! Those are some good fine motor skills he has there! It's not unusual for babies not to talk at age 18 months . . . both of mine were one time, HUGE, and neither talked until 24 months -- then NEVER STOPPED! Eighteen months is a little delayed for walking, but not that much -- and that's for a TERM baby. In school, we were taught -- ugh -- just lost the words! You have to subtract the amount of weeks premature he was from his chronological age . . . . so he's NOT far behind for how old he REALLY is.

Celebrate a GREAT milestone!!!!! Congratulations!!!!!

Yea--that chicken recipe really belongs in a gluten-free Hall of Fame somewhere! :D My husband (who can eat anything) now requests it!

I have to say.. your chicken is our dinner everytime dad is working late. So tonite I will be feeding him the chicken again.. and we will see what happens. Keep our fingers crossed!

      Celiac support is hard to find

      same! how amazing you have a friend who has celiac disease. i find myself wishing i had someone to talk about it with other than my partner (who has been so supportive regardless)

      need help understanding testing result for Naked Nutrition Creatine please

      They don’t give a sample size (serving size is different from sample size) so it is hard to tell just what the result means. However, the way the result is presented does look like it is below the limit of what their test can measure, so that is good.

While iodine is essential for thyroid hormone production, consistently consuming amounts far above the tolerable upper limit (1,100 mcg/day for adults) from high-dose supplements can trigger both hyperthyroidism or hypothyroidism, worsen autoimmune thyroid diseases like Hashimoto's, and lead to goiter. Other side effects include gastrointestinal distress. The risk is highest for individuals with pre-existing thyroid conditions, and while dietary iodine rarely reaches toxic levels, unsupervised high-dose supplementation is dangerous and should only be undertaken with medical guidance to avoid serious complications. It's best to check with your doctor before supplementing iodine.

I suspect this, more than a specific strain of wheat to be controlling factor.  Sourdough natural fermentation conditions the dough without chemicals. Iodine was used in the US as a dough modifier until the 1970s. Since then iodine intake in the US dropped 50%.  Iodine is essential for thyroid hormones.  Thyroid hormone use for hypothyroidism has doubled in the United States from 1997 to 2016.   Clinical Thyroidology® for the Public In the UK, incidently, prescriptions for the thyroid hormone levothyroxine have increased by more than 12 million in a decade.  The Royal Pharmaceutical Society's official journal Standard thyroid tests will not show insufficient iodine intake.  Iodine 24 Hour Urine Test measures iodine excretion over a full day to evaluate iodine status and thyroid health. 75 year old male.  I tried adding seaweed into my diet and did get improvement in healing, muscle tone, skin; but in was not enough and I could not sustain it in my diet at the level intake I needed.  So I supplement 600 mcg Liquid Iodine (RDA 150 to 1000 mcg) per day.  It has turbocharged my recovery from 63 years of undiagnosed celiac disease.  Improvement in healing a non-healing sebaceous cyst. brain fog, vision, hair, skin, nails. Some with dermatitis herpetiformis celiac disease experience exacerbation of the rash with iodine. The Wolff-Chaikoff Effect Crying Wolf?
