Biopsy results after 1,5 gfd

Yes, it sounds like great progress, but what was the time frame between the two endoscopies? -
Help with results
Scott Adams replied to mariamccl's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Your symptoms—headaches, dizziness, nausea, irregular bowel movements, anemia, and menstrual changes—along with a family history of celiac disease, strongly suggest celiac disease could be the cause. The mild duodenal changes seen in your biopsy are consistent with early or mild celiac disease, though they could also be due to other factors. The improvement in ... -
For people with celiac disease and corn intolerance, most salts, including table salt with dextrose, are generally safe in small amounts, as the dextrose is typically highly processed and unlikely to contain problematic corn proteins. However, if you’re highly sensitive, you might consider switching to pure kosher or Himalayan salt, which don’t contain add...

Your daughter’s ongoing stomach pains two weeks into a gluten-free diet could be due to her body still healing after months of gluten exposure, as recovery from celiac disease can take time. Her inconsistent eating habits and possible eating disorder behaviors may also delay healing. While she’s now eating gluten-free snacks, her limited intake and emotional wit...

I can testify that Daura does not have a "metallic" taste, or any off taste at all--it's an outstanding beer. I have celiac disease and don't have issues with Daura, but do agree that gluten reduced beers are not for everyone. I also started back in the mid-90's brewing gluten-free beer, so do know a lot about how they do this--AN-PEP enzymes like those...

Could this be Celiac disease?
Scott Adams replied to Chissers's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
At 60, with a family history of celiac disease (mother and sister) and HLA DQ2 positivity, celiac disease is a possibility despite negative tTG antibodies (total IgA was not checked). Your symptoms—abdominal discomfort, gas, brain fog, ataxia, and worsening with gluten or alcohol—could align with celiac disease, though the lack of improvement off gluten is ... -
Gluten in Escitalopram??
Scott Adams replied to Farmerswife's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
You can search this site for prescriptions medications, but will need to know the manufacturer/maker if there is more than one, especially if you use a generic version of the medication: To see the ingredients you will need to click on the correct version of the medication and maker in the results, then scroll down to "Ingredients and Appearance"... -
I’m so sorry to hear about the challenges you and your daughter are facing. A celiac diagnosis, especially during adolescence, can be overwhelming, and it’s understandable that she’s struggling with the lifestyle changes it requires. Coupled with the complexities of self-medication and signs of an eating disorder, this is undoubtedly a difficult time for y...

For my first couple of years after discovering my celiac disease I also had to avoid cow's milk/casein and eggs, as well as other things, but could tolerate duck eggs and sheep and goat's milk products. I'm not sure if you've tried those, but it could be worth testing them out.

Yes, if you had symptoms when eating gluten ruling out celiac disease won't necessarily mean you'll be able to eat gluten again, although it might mean that you may be able to be less strict with your gluten-free diet.

Gluten-Free Ramen: A Comforting Bowl of Japanese Tradition
Scott Adams commented on Scott Adams's article in Chinese & Asian
Definitely, I have ramen regularly as Costco sells an excellent brown rice & buckwheat gluten-free ramen (just the noodles--they also sell a GF chicken soup stock in jars that works well to make ramen). -
Thank you for sharing your genetic test results and background. Your results indicate you carry one half of the DQ2 heterodimer (DQA1*05), which is associated with a very low celiac disease risk (0.05%). While most celiac patients have either DQ2 or DQ8, these genes are also present in people without celiac disease, so the test alone doesn’t confirm a diagnosis. ...

@cvz Thank you for sharing your daughter’s story. It sounds like she is managing multiple complex conditions with great care and diligence. It’s encouraging to hear that she is compliant with her gluten-free diet and that her Addison’s disease symptoms are under control. The addition of electrolytes seems like a thoughtful suggestion, especially given her f...

Testing for celiac
Scott Adams replied to Bebee's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
In case you decide to go the route of a gluten challenge for a celiac disease blood test or biopsy: Here is more info about how to do a gluten challenge for a celiac disease blood panel, or for an endoscopy: and this recent study recommends 4-6 slices of wheat bread per day: -
Status Update...
Scott Adams replied to TerryinCO's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
So the way it should be used is to take it before possible gluten exposure, so right before a meal at a restaurant take 1-2 capsules. Unfortunately taking it 1 hour or more after an exposure is too late. -
Do I really need to get a biopsy?
Scott Adams replied to Ryangf's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Welcome to the forum, and thank you for sharing your detailed experience. It sounds like you’ve been through a lot over the past several months, and it’s understandable to feel frustrated after navigating unclear diagnoses and conflicting advice. Since you’ve found relief with a gluten- and corn-free diet, it might be worth continuing that approach for n... -
I just want to mention that with gluten we're talking about ppm, or "parts per million," and not parts per billion. Sticking to whole foods and home cooking is the safest way to go, without necessarily replacing all gluten products you might normally eat with gluten-free ones. If you do eat gluten replacements, for example gluten-free bagels or...

Celiac Disease and Mild Chronic Gastritis
Scott Adams replied to Tyoung's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I agree that the gastritis may go away after you've been on a gluten-free diet for a while. If you are concerned, it might make sense for you to do a follow up biopsy after a year or so on a gluten-free diet. This article has some detailed information on how to be 100% gluten-free, so it may be helpful (be sure to also read the comments section.... -
Testing for celiac
Scott Adams replied to Bebee's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Getting tested for celiac disease is a valid concern, especially given your history of microscopic colitis and the potential risks associated with undiagnosed celiac disease, such as cross-contamination, nutrient malabsorption, and increased cancer risk. Since you’ve been gluten-free for years, reintroducing gluten for the standard celiac blood tests or e...
