ARCHIVED Facial Swelling After Glutened
1desperateladysaved replied to annajazz's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I notice puffiness under my eyes. My health practitioner has pointed out that it is system wide reaction. She saw swelling all of the way up my legs to my neck. Sometimes, I am told by friends that my face looks puffy. The shoe sales person told me that my feet swell up and down. I have been told mine has to do with my lymph system, so you may want to... -

ARCHIVED Mercury Toxicity?
1desperateladysaved replied to jamiecasabellameeks's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
It takes me about 4 days to feel better after eating a food that I do not tolerate. My nurse caregiver says that it takes about 4 days for the antibodies to die down. Three days seems to me within a reasonable time. My dentist removed my mercury fillings very carefully. He used what he called a "rubber Damn" to avoid having mercury go down my throat... -
I haven't had dairy in years and grain I haven't eaten in 2 years. I do eat healthy foods meats, vegetables, and nuts. I shun sweets. My calcium levels have been tested and found adequate. I wonder if your total IgA levels were checked. The body can be deficient in it and it can make the test false negative. Hope you will soon feel healthy again...

I have had reactions that lead me to believe that I must be extremely careful. I am working towards growing much of my own food, searching for companies that produce one crop, and also washing carefully everything that can be washed. Dee -
ARCHIVED Types Of Flour?
1desperateladysaved replied to thehauffamily's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
. The blood test may false negative if the child isn't eating gluten. She may be getting enough by accident to have tripped the tests You won't be certain if she has celiac even if the test is negative. As you continue the gluten free diet, it is a good thing to attempt for the whole family to follow the diet. Maybe you will discover other children or... -

ARCHIVED Trying To Plan Vacation, Need Help With Meal Ideas While Traveling.
1desperateladysaved replied to Not crazy's topic in Traveling with Celiac Disease
It is possible to have your own food on the road. This helps to prevent cross contamination and illness while on a trip. You can feel secure about all of the ingredients in your food. Be sure to keep all food either hot or cold. Before leaving home, I make entree's for the days that we will be driving all day. I package a serving size amount in... -
ARCHIVED Exocrine Pancreatic Insufficiency
1desperateladysaved replied to Gemini's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I have had good results (when using enzymes for my family) while using either prescription or over the counter enzymes. My son has a prescription for Pancreaze. This helped his growth to come back after he battled parasites. He also is measuring 0 enzymes by stool test. These are costing 104 dollars for a 4 month supply. I will post a link for this if... -

ARCHIVED Raising Chickens
1desperateladysaved replied to BlessedMommy's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
In the fall/winter chickens need to have artificial lighting in order to extend their light hours. That is the most difficult part of our family"s chickens. We feed my chickens some things that I can't eat, so far I seem okay with it. The eggs will be brighter if the chickens eat grass. I got free chickens when someone couldn't keep them in the city... -
ARCHIVED Best Blender/food Processor?
1desperateladysaved replied to WinterSong's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I certainly don't have the miracle answer for these. I have been trying to grind nuts into flour. I thought the triple bladed ninja would do it well, but use my food processor instead. I have a Cuisinart processor, they kindly replaced the bowls that disintegrated within the first year. I really put these to the test (nut flour for 6), so perhaps someone... -

ARCHIVED Reaction To Starch?!
1desperateladysaved replied to CR5442's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
I noticed trouble (for me) with corn starch before I realized my celiac trouble. I think it may be hard to digest. I also have discovered that I don't tolerate potatoes and several other starchy foods. These intolerances are not celiac, but for me it goes along with leaky gut. Have you considered if you might have a yeast infection? Yeast feed on such... -
Perhaps you are intended to help others there to cope with a gluten issue. I wouldn't be surprised if there are some around I know that eating is a social event, but your health needs to be taken care of too. Could you get your own cooking space using grill, electric skillet, or crock pot and invite people to join you? Dee

ARCHIVED It's Been A Week I've Got Glutened Almost Everyday
1desperateladysaved replied to morgane's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Hi Morgane, I don't know what is happening to you now. It sounds like a good plan to check with the doctor. But the last time I experienced contamination for several days afterward I felt cramping each time I ate. It can take a while to get rid of it all. I hope you learned not to try gluten again. Be sure to study what foods to eat and not eat... -
ARCHIVED Struggling To Get Better After Diagnosis.
1desperateladysaved replied to Huxleberry's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Are you able to get food not cross-contaminated? Are you 100% gluten free? Are you getting enough protein? Do you also get enough vitamin B which is not very plentiful in plants? Are you on a multivitamin, digestive enzymes, and probiotic? Those are just questions for you to think about and discuss if desired.. Did you get your thyroid tested? Celiac... -

ARCHIVED Adhesive Sensitivity-Not Blaming It On Gluten :)
1desperateladysaved replied to powerofpositivethinking's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
I have refused band-aids since paying $205 for general surgery while dealing with a reaction to one. I have known for years I have trouble with adhesive bandages. I use cotton gauze and do not adhere the tape directly to my skin. -

ARCHIVED Would You Report A Doctor Who Misdiagnosed You?
1desperateladysaved replied to veryami1's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
When I met up with a doctor that wouldn't test my daughter's rash, I printed out information about celiac and mailed it with a letter to the doctor. I all the while remembered a friend that treated her doctor respectively and taught her some lessons. Dee
