  1. Unfortunately I was there years ago, so I don't really remember any of the places; but are you renting a house? I remember that is what we did. If so, I would suggest bringing stuff for breakfast (gluten free cereal, muffins, ect. And then maybe bring some gluten free bread to make sandwiches for lunch. Bring gluten free pretzels, cookies, fruit, etc. for...
  2. I use Tinkyada most of the time, but if I want REALLY good pasta, as someone else mentioned, I get Bi-Aglut. I have yet to find it in a store by me (I've asked a few to carry it, but so far no luck). You can order it on the internet.
  3. My family owns restaurants, and this is true. To be honest, I would never expect a restaurant to let me do this. Clearly I understand the problems your son has eating out, but personally I am always able to find something just about anywhere I go. And if I am going with a group of people to a restaurant where I know they can't accomodate me (and it...
  4. This definately doesn't qualify as a recipe, but it's really great. I take blueberries and strawberries and mix them with vanilla pudding. Mmmmmmmmm!!
  5. The chicken taquitos (their brand), and the blueberry ice cream (not their brand. can't remember what it is, but it comes in a purpleish blue container and has a little rainbow on it).
  6. Nice Job!!!!! I mean fine, that you don't have a gluten free menu (although you would think in a place that makes scrambled eggs how hard could it be); but to not even disclose your ingredients. That just seems ridiculous. Like you said, you asked a simple question. "Do the corn cakes contain gluten." Sounds like a yes or no question to me.
  7. I just looked on their website and it does list the corn cakes as a new item on the menu. I think I'd rather just have my pancakes at home with Authentic Foods mix though. I'm not sure I'd feel safe eating at IHOP.
  8. Unless something has changed since I last bought them, Pillsbury is ok also.
  9. I'm late, but HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!! I hope you had an amazing birthday... with a delicious gluten free cake!
  10. I never eat corn chips at a restaurant. I have found that 99% of the time they fry them off. When I first became gluten free and heard this was a possibility I thought that was the craziest thing, and felt dumb asking, because I figured this was the craziest question, but lo and behold, it seems just about everywhere does. I don't ask anymore because I pretty...
  11. Annalise Roberts has a recipe for homemade hot dog and hamburger buns on her website. Everything I've ever made from her recipes is phenomenal so I bet these are great. Open Original Shared Link
  12. I've never tried them, but they do make gluten free ice cream cones. https://www.celiac.com/catalog/index.php?cPath=24 Open Original Shared Link
  13. I 3rd the Bell & Evans chicken nuggets. They are great for a quick convenience meal. If they have Foods By George Pizza, those are also good for a quick meal. Definately get a bunch of Tinkyada pasta (as previously mentioned). I like the Nature's Path Honey'd Cornflakes. As far as flour you will need Rice Flour, Potato Starch (not flour), Millet...
  14. Another vote for that croissant. In fact I would have a croissant with turkey, lettuce and tomato on it. And a chocolate croissant too. There was this place in the Stamford (CT) mall that I used to get those 2 things all the time when I was a little kid. It was my favorite. They had the best croissants. Two of the last things I ate before going gluten...
  15. LOL!!! According to some of the people I've met, yes because it's not "wheat" bread
  16. I read this thread hoping that you had found some sort of gluten free candy bar that was just like a Twix Obviously that is clearly not the case (sniff sniff). Maybe you are just one of those people that doesn't get an actual GI reaction you can feel. But as others have said, regardless you are still getting damage to your small intestine. But...
  17. Glutino makes apple cinnamon cereal, similar to apple cinnamon cheerios. They're pretty good and will definately take care of the craving (unless you were looking specifically for baked goods). I can find them in some stores by me, but here is a link from somewhere online. Open Original Shared Link
  18. LOL!! I had a beagle that would eat anything! In fact if you asked her to do anything, even sit, unless you had food she would basically look at you like you had 6 heads. I'm not sure if she was painfully dumb, or really smar Funny, I actually know someone else with a boxer named Tank.
  19. What kind of sauce did it have on it? Most Asian type sauces have wheat in them. For instance soy sauce has wheat. As for the Taco Bell, I never really ate there before being diagnosed so it's not somewhere I have even bothered to check out, but I am pretty sure I have read that other than the soda, there is nothing safe there.
  20. Oh yeah! The Chocolate Thunder from Down Under dessert at Outback and gluten free and AMAZING!!!! There is your easy cake, right there!
  21. I never cheated and would never consider cheating. I remember how sick I felt all the time, how much damage has been done to my intestine and frankly how awful it is if I do accidentally get glutened and that is from trace amounts that I don't even know how I got glutened. If you want cake, go get (or order) Namaste chocolate cake mix and get some Pillsbury...
  22. I thought they were ok. I like the Foods by George ones better. I haven't tried the Grainless Baker ones but I would bet they are good. To be honest before becoming gluten-free, I had never had a frozen pizza, so in all honesty I don't think any of them are spectacular but it works for a quick lunch at times.
  23. I second the bread from the Grainless Baker. I have only tried the Mock Rye, but it is hands down the best bread anywhere. You absolutely can not tell it is gluten free.
  24. AGREED! You can not beat Joan's bagels. I have been talking about them for a little over a year and I'm so glad they are really catching on. As another NY'er, this is definately a real bagel!!! Before I found Joan's bagels I would eat the Glutino ones which weren't awful, but I figured this is what a frozen Lender's bagel or something must taste like ...
  25. I love the French Onion Soup. Throw some mozarella cheese on it and let it bake in the oven... mmmmmmm!
