  1. Pixie Hot Chocolate
  2. Thanks Angie. I'm putting those in my "make these soon" file. It'll have to wait until after Dec. 11. We're going to Disneyland on the 4th! I can hardly wait.
  3. Lynne - you forgot the part where you tell them it's genetic and you got it from one of THEM. Start pointing fingers. "You! Passing out after eating the turkey and stuffing. You're next! This will be you one day!" Of course you have to do that when your Mom and Dad are not within earshot but I bet you'd feel pretty good. That'd shut them up and stop their...
  4. With my first I couldn't wear any of my regular pants by 10 weeks and with my second I knew I was pregnant before I missed my period because I couldn't zip my pants up. I am all leg, and very little torso so my fellas had nowhere to go but "out". People couldn't look at me and tell I was pregnant until about 4 months though. All the way through both pregnancys...
  5. Not much snow here, but right now it's -16c or -26c with the windchill. Monday's forecast high? -27c low of -31. I love it when our highs are -27c . Tuesday sunny high -18c low -30c. On the bright side, I do get to spend an hour at the arena tonight and a minimum 2 hours in a cold arena tomorrow, and another hour on Sunday as well. Sunday will be the killer...
  6. Is it possible that when she said she took two biopsies that she meant she took numerous samples from two locations? Several from stomach and several from duodenum? I'm sure you'll get a call in a week or so and if you are concerned call her office today. When Ty had his, I believe they were all from the duodenum, but I don't know that for sure. I also...
  7. Sorry Judy, I've never heard of that flour mix. I've only made pie a couple of times and I used unmixed flour both times. KWIM? I used a few "loose" flours as indicated by the recipe. The dough never looked like icing, but was a pain to work with. They did end up tasting like pie. Did yours? I hope you had/have a happy Thanksgiving. Ours is always on a...
  8. How much longer until your appointment at Foothills? Couple weeks? I hope they can help you figure it out.
  9. My 7 year old is the only one in our family with Celiac. Neither I, my husband, nor older son have celiac, yet my younger son had both positve bloodwork and positive biopsy. Perhaps you should have further testing or see how you feel when you eliminate gluten from your diet.
  10. On the Celiac.com main home page there is a link to safe/forbidden/questionable ingredients. https://www.celiac.com/st_main.html?p_catid=12

    ARCHIVED "the Trigger"

I don't know Ty's trigger. Ty just turned 7, he was diagnosed about 2 1/2 months before his sixth birthday. He was very healthy, never sick as a baby or young child, rarely complained of a stomach ache. In hindsight, he never ate much whole or 60% wheat bread but would eat buns, cake, cookies and load up on spaghetti. Once he was potty trained I was not privy...
  12. The only problem I can envision with the scenario of bringing a gluten-free pasta salad and not saying anything is that the type of person who put you down for the salad in the first place will see you eating it and shout, "AHA! You're eating pasta." and then not believe it's gluten-free and think you're a liar. Woo! That was some run-on sentence.
  13. I just got off the phone with a representative of Club House/McCormick Canada. Here's the scoop. McCormick glass bottles/green or black lids are almost always pure spices or combinations of spices and are packaged in a dedicated area as are the small orange tins of Club House spices (about 10 varieties). In a NON-dedicated area is where the Club House...
  14. I've been buying the rice bran rather than organic because it's 80 cents cheaper for about the same size and Ty hasn't said anything about noticing a taste difference. I did tell a lady at the health food store once that I didn't care if it was organic, just that it was gluten free . I think she was horrified .
  15. Hmm. When I called they made no such distinction as glass bottles with the green labels are gluten free. Club House has orange lids and labels, and McCormick is green. Both McCormicks and Club House (owned by McC) said they will clearly label gluten. I guess I'll have to call Club House and double check the Italian seasoning just to make sure. It's still...
  16. Ha Ha. We only did one block. Luckily the people at my and my husband's office are pigs. Family, too. The thing that bugged me about popcorn is the guy made it sound like it was mandatory to go door to door and it turns out it's optional. I remember the first bottle drive. We were thinking What! He's been a Beaver for a day and he has a bottle drive? Ty...
  17. Armetta, I just pm'd you. I hope it's good enough.
  18. Armetta, I'd like to help you out, but I don't really know much about Lynne other than the great advice and great sense of humour and optimism she displays on the boards despite her poor health. How can I help? Is a brief note about how her humour and optimism shines through enough?
  19. Happy Birthday Elonwy!
  20. That sounds like a good compromise. When is Thanksgiving? 25th? We had ours in October. (Canadian, eh?)
  21. Do I see an inky "Silly Yak" in Brenna's future?
  22. Whew. Glad to hear he's all right. Better you than me camping...I do have to do a scout bottle drive tomorrow morning, I think the forecast is for sunny and 7. I have my fingers crossed.
  23. Thanks for reviving this thread. Lunch is our hardest meal (except on school days) Breakfast: Nature's Path ? (Green bag with a bear) honey'd corn flakes or puffed rice with brown sugar or Kinnickinnik rice krispies Bagged Lunch at school: 2 or 3 slices gluten-free banana bread - mini loaf size, about the size of your palm - recipe in the Incredible...
