OMG I feel Like a idiot, custard icecream, been years since I made a good custard. Hmm >.< now I am thinking of homemade eggnog icecream, I even have egg nog extract to cheat on it lol. Feeneyja you should swing by and we can go icecream crazy one night making several batches lol. QUESTION, do you think this can be done with just egg whites? Perhaps...

....Joke? You do not make icecream with eggs, I guess you could to add protein, heck I might try that next time. I make icecream and eat it daily. I make vegan and sugar free versions. Different every time with different flavors using extracts, nut butters, nut milks, and protein powders. I use them as a meal myself so my methods are quite odd as I strive...

ARCHIVED Anyone used gluten testing strips at restaurants? Bad experience with gluten-free dining.
Ennis-TX replied to Alliet's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
EZ-Test Strips and the Nima Prortable Sensor, they can only be used on some foods. I use the Nima more often as it is cheaper at under $10 a test. NOTE it can be hyper sensitive more often then not, and it is extremely rare that it misses gluten. BUT you have to take multiple samples sometimes. And it can only sample a very small amount so you might miss... -
1. If you drink flavored coffee, or from certain off brands, bulk coffee from whole bins at a store, or from some brands it can be gluten contaminated. I did a huge research and testing run a few months back, Even confirmed 2 companies that make flavored coffees use gluten containing ingredients in the coffee flavorings, and found years ago that those kids...

I can not help with the hashi or the rest of the info much but we have some members with it that will chip in soon and help you out I am sure. What I can help address is your stress and depression. Try taking a more natural approach, I find b-vitamins and magnesium work WONDERs with these. I also eat plenty of pumpkin seeds, and hemp which help with it....- 19 replies

ARCHIVED Crafted to remove gluten
Ennis-TX replied to Jeff A's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Stick to ciders (I have sipped a few good apple and honey ones that are gluten-free labeled the harder ones taste like beer), gluten free vodkas, tequila, and my personal ones I cook and keep in my house rums. Gluten removed beers are a HUGE iffy with people hell some people are even reacting to distilled liquors made from wheat. Play it safe and stay away... -
ARCHIVED New to this , need some info please
Ennis-TX replied to Feesa's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I hear you, I thought I was dying going crazy, and was running a bucketlist prior to dia. My issues were a mix of it effecting my brain, nervous system, guts, etc. My primary issues was the brain fog, confusion, brain damage, nerve damage, and bad gas and constipation lasting 8-10 days. The worst of it will pass with the gas in 2-6 weeks, it can take... -
ARCHIVED Supplement and Foods you Take
Ennis-TX replied to Ennis-TX's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Honestly this was the reason I ignored the bread for years, my dietician said that using psylilum husk on a daily basis was bad. He compared it to scrubbing your intestines with a loofah sponge, and said it might be alright a few days a month but not daily in my case. But I find when cooking with it, it seems less harsh on my gut, I use it in my cheese... -
ARCHIVED Supplement and Foods you Take
Ennis-TX replied to Ennis-TX's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Wanted to add a update since my UC dia. back in February I removed all fruit from my diet and grains. I now eat more nuts like walnuts, hazelnuts, etc. I also started eating more dairy free cheeses, and my keto cheese sauces, along with Julian Bakery Paleo bread which is now one of my stables. Supplement wise I added Liquid Health D3 Jarrow Bromelain... -
ARCHIVED I eat cross contaminated foods and testing advice
Ennis-TX replied to lilo's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Gluten is a protein (smaller then a germ) like blood . Ff your immune system reacts to it you can easily get CC from touching foods that contain it then touching your food, having pans that have scratches in them, Tupperware, utensils that are not cleaned well, contaminated prep surfaces, toasters, condiment containers with crumbs or someone stuck in a utensil... -

ARCHIVED Hello new here - need advice
Ennis-TX replied to PJP's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
On the gluten challenge you do not have to eat a ton of gluten, you cant eat mostly gluten-free, and just have half a slice of bread or a few crackers before bed and try to sleep off the worst of it. You just have to consume it daily to keep the antibodies up for the testing. -
ARCHIVED After diagnonisis, why go 100% gluten free
Ennis-TX replied to sddave's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Celiac is a autoimmune disease where the gluten proteins (smaller then germs) confuse your immune system into attacking your own body essentially. There will be a withdrawal of course stopping cold turkey from gluten but you have to if your going to heal. Even small crumbs, residue, or something touching then being removed will leave some of the gluten protein... -
You have only been off it for a week, and as mentioned unless your did a clean out and changed 100% over I doubt you removed all source of gluten. It can take 2 weeks for most symptoms to start to go away, reintroducing after 1 weeks you will probably not have that major of a backlash just yet. But some symptoms from a gluten exposure can take up to 6 months...

Funny thing is celiac is one backassward disease, you have to be on gluten for 12 weeks for it to show up in your blood testing, and 2 weeks for it to show up in the follow up test that involves a endoscope and biopsies. FIRST get the blood test done before stopping gluten, it is a simple blood test. Ask your doctor for a FULL celiac blood panel, feel free...

ARCHIVED NCGS Stool Question
Ennis-TX replied to Feeneyja's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
There was a article I read a while back about how during times of when your body is fighting disease, infections, inflammation, sickness, or under extreme stress and you have the celiac gene, that it can become active. The theory ran along the lines of your bodies heightened immune response and if your consuming gluten during it the body was prone to create... -

ARCHIVED Confused!!!
Ennis-TX replied to Raelynne's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I am not a expert on the other diseases and issues that cropped up along with your high celiac levels, but celiac is a autoimmune disease. It can manifest itself with various symptoms that vary from person to person. The whole eye thing your mentioned could be related to celiac, some of us it effects, nerves, gut, brain, eyes, skin, and most people it effects... -
ARCHIVED NCGS Stool Question
Ennis-TX replied to Feeneyja's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
NO proof here but random thoughts, the mucus can either be undigested fats not breaking down, or a mucus produced by the intestines to protect itself from a irritant. Either way would not such a film around your food going through your intestines between it and the walls prevent the said walls from absorbing the needed nutrients at 100% efficiency and in... -
Lol I kept telling you to drop dairy for a week and see if that was it. I still suggest going 100% dairy free for a week. You will feel amazing, especially since your having issues with it. The lactaid helps, but imagine how much more energy and how much better your gut will feel when it is not having to work over time to something your have issues with,...

ARCHIVED Can't catch a break
Ennis-TX replied to LookingforAnswers15's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
As raven mentioned some celiacs I think about 10% have the same reaction to oats and can not eat them even if gluten free. As to the shampoo, the real danger from shampoo is touching your hair, then touching your food before eating it. As those of us with long hair know this happens ALL THE TIME. So gluten free shampoos are a must for us. You DO not get the... -
Cheese Slices
Ennis-TX replied to Diva1's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
With celiacs due to damage to the villi many develop issues with lactose and some have issues with whey and casein (Then enzymes to break them down are created by the villi) . These can cause bloating, diarrhea, constipation, or general distress to your digestive system if you have issues with them (I also have my autism flare up with dairy). If you find... -

Ennis-TX replied to Feeneyja's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Look up that Liquid Health company I mentioned might try their daily multiple along with the others I mention I use. The liquid supplments are much easier absorbed, no pills, and you can measure it out and experiment finding your balance. -
ARCHIVED Now it's my turn
Ennis-TX replied to Feeneyja's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
WE always say celiac disease is one of the most most messed up when it comes to testing. Like you got to make yourself sicker and poision yourself to prove that it does.....like really. Put that logic to ANY other disease and you really see how messed up it is try it in your mind thinking of different diseases. illness, conditions of having to give your self...
