i think it is interesting because everyone is diagnosed at different times and when i did my science fair most people were diagnosed inbetween 20-40 and i want to know when everyone else was dx

I answered for me but also wanted to let you know that my daughter was dx when she was 8 (it wouldn't let me vote twice).

Hi, I'm new to the forum. My name is Emily, and I'm almost a sophmore in college. I'm from Kansas, but am going to school in Rexburg, Idaho. I was diagnosed a week or two into my senior year of high school, so I was 17. I turn 19 in two days, so it's been almost 2 years since I found out I had Celiac.

I haven't actually been diagnosed with celiac..

But i was diagnosed with a gluten intolerance a year ago, so i would've been 16.

Hi, my name is Sarah and i live in Toronto, Canada.I'm turning 18 next week and i was diagnosed with celiac disease when i was 18 months old. I don't even remember ever eating wheat, but sometimes i wish i could.

Same with me :) Except I was diagnosed @ 20 months, I don't remember wheat, barley, rye at all

i was elevan and i dont have celiac disease but i am very senitive to gluten, barly, and malt

i was diagnosed when i was 14 and a half. i have only had celiac for a little over a year.

Byuemily- i was just wondering, your from kansas why did u come all the way to idaho for college not like its a bad thing, but idaho is just kinda a small not very well known state (i'm from idaho)

I found out last year so I was 42 (still am) but I wasn't officialy diagnosed. (Sorry didn't notice this was a teen only one, oops. )

Hey, she gave me older than teen options so I took it! :rolleyes: I'm 44, back in college full-time (masters) :huh: ; diagnosed at 42. hindsight shows it's been active most of my life (enameless teeth!) :D

I was officially diagnosed around my 23rd birthday. I think it was several days before my birthday!

This is a really old thread, recently revived. I wasn't a teen even when it was started. My official diagnosis was given to me two days after my 46th birthday. I'm 52 now. So, at the moment: I am 15 with 37 years of experience. :lol: My first post here, in 2004, was also in response to a poll by Molly.

I was 42 when diagnosed, I'm 60 now ... that's 15 with 45 years of experience :lol: I love that Peter.

Ha, I'm a dork. Diagnosed at 20 (not 22)... I'm 22, which gives me two whole years experience (in a few more months).

Wow--this is an old thread! :D

I was diagnosed in June of 2005 at age 49. I had symptoms from about the age of 30.

I was diagnosed in the spring of 1978 at 20.75 years. Yep, that's almost 29 years.

      Thankyou because I met up with K B with well known bay area hospital once and she said she knows I don't like to take meds, I said thats incorrect, I have issues.Thats the one that said I was deemed " unruly " when she admitted I was celiac when I asked why am I going through this.

      Cristiana, that sounds like a great approach and I will be looking forward to the results. I am in the same boat as you. I don't experience overt symptoms with minor, cross contamination level exposures so I sometimes will indulge in those "processed on equipment that also processes wheat . . ." or items that don't specifically claim to be gluten free but do not list gluten containing grains in their ingredient list. But I always wonder if I am still experiencing sub acute inflammatory reactions. I haven't had any celiac antibody blood work done since my diagnosis almost 25 years ago so I don't really have any data to go by.

      I've been reflecting on this further. The lowest TTG I've ever managed was 4.5 (normal lab reading under 10).  Since then it has gone up to 10.   I am not happy with that.  I can only explain this by the fact that I am eating out more these days and that's where I'm being 'glutened', but such small amounts that I only occasionally react. I know some of it is also to do with eating products labelled 'may contain gluten' by mistake - which in the UK means it probably does! It stands to reason that as I am a coeliac any trace of gluten will cause a response in the gut.  My villi are healed and look healthy, but those lymphocytes are present because of the occasional trace amounts of gluten sneaking into my diet.   I am going to try not to eat out now until my next blood test in the autumn and read labels properly to avoid the may contain gluten products, and will then report back to see if it has helped!

      Hi, I posted before about my son's legs shaking after gluten. I did end up starting him on vit b and happily he actually started sleeping better and longer.  Back to my 4 year old. She had gone back to meltdowns, early wakes, and exhaustion. We tested everything again and her ferritin was lowish again (16) and vit d was low. After a couple weeks on supplements she is cheerful, sleeping better and looks better. The red rimmed eyes and dark circles are much better.   AND her Ttg was a 3!!!!!! So, we are crushing the gluten-free diet which is great. But WHY are her iron and vit d low if she's not getting any gluten????  She's on 30mg of iron per day and also a multivitamin and vit d supplement (per her dr). That helped her feel better quickly. But will she need supplements her whole life?? Or is there some other reason she's not absorbing iron? We eat very healthy with minimal processed food. Beef maybe 1x per week but plenty of other protein including eggs daily.  She also says her tummy hurts every single morning. That was before the iron (do not likely a side effect). Is that common with celiac?
