Hey all- Pa-Pooping in quickly. Just came home from Jen's we started unpacking and had dinner over there out on her deck, it was nice, we got her kitchen pretty well unpacked. Maybe more tomorrow night...and it is getting chilly outside.

Oh and boy am I going to bury my face for this....I went to Old Navy and purchased items at the 14.92 sale.....Yep- spent 29 bucks and got me 5 new tops.....I bought 3 tanks and 2 light long sleeve shirts and pulled off the "layered" look today. Manda is stylin!!!!

Nice score, Amanda! And these are clothes that have never been worn by anyone else! A rare treat for me, Ms. Sally Anne Diva herself......

And you've used almost 100 words here, Amanda.. . . ...we're almost at day's end - - would you say you've used up your token 7,000? I am absolutely certain that I have. . . .....

Erica,

Maybe everybody else has gone to bed. I'm sure Nikki has, and I will be following soon.

Skaught is is a psilly fonetic spelling of Scott, and refers to the board administrator, Scott Adams (username admin).

... us history is drowning me

US history is a fascinating area of study. The US has been in existence for 232 years, but has been involved in so many armed conflicts during that time. The US has had the Revolutionary War, the War of 1812, the Civil War, World War I, World War II, Korea, and Viet Nam, among other conflicts.

Pick a war, study it, and write about it. I personally find WW II the most interesting of the lot, but the Civil War is more complex from the US view (as opposed to the world view of WW II).

But then, "History is just one damn thing after another." I phorget who said that. B)

Nothing silly to add tonight. I'm off to bed. :)

..........if that were my brohter and me, at that age, it would end in a smackdown......

I never got into fights with my brother that I recall, but there was always the backseat conflict on car trips.......you know, that imginary line down the middle....."You're on MY side of the seat!"

Lisa (curly fries)....let s know what transpires with your daughter :( ....does she have symptoms of Lupus??

If I remember rightly it's not a definitive test?? (hubby had it - is it ANA or summat??)

She has complained of her joints hurting. She has diagnosed anxiety and depression...and of course the rash. A couple years ago she had some urinary issues and I believe they found a low white cell count....not sure, must double check with her on that.

I don't know how reliable the biopsy test is. The blood test is ANA, according to my research, and a positive ANA doesn't always mean you have lupus, for instance, if you have an infection or are taking certain meds.

Thanks everyone for your concern.....will keep you posted.

... sadly, i wrote about myself <_< and, uh, how learning bout this deaf (& other disabilities) school got my interested in working w/kids w/disabilities...

A noble occupation :D ......you missed my signing lessons back in July :P

Great eyebrow story!

Amanda.....good luck on the house!

He is Canadian (but I don't hold that against him ;) ) and he waffles UNnecessarily ON & ON for Enland AS WELL as Canada .....shhheesh!!... I want to scream STOP!!!!! I get the picture!!!!!!!

Another dull and grEy day...the eyebrowLESS one had his T.B test this morning.....I'm sure the nurse kept looking  ...he was MOST brave :D

Glad Julie's Cocker meet and greet went well!! ;)

Patti's singed eyebrows lighting a cig off the stove  ...lost an ENTIRE fringe doing that :lol:

GADS!!...BTW....since giving up the smokes *I* have turned into one of those insufferable converts that I promised I would NEVER be

After my friend (who smokes) had been round my house I realised with HORROR and DISMAY that the fleece jacket I was wearing was indeedin the path of her vile smoke..on the back of the chair she was sitting on!

..dear GOD!!! :o ....it was all I could DO not to whip the jacket from behind her (whilst making LOUD coughing noises) and hang that jacket on the washing line to air it!!!!

..I in fact waited 'til she left

Jeeze, I got nuthin.....cold this AM, but sunny. Em--"early boids" :P you write like I tawk

Did I tell you guys that the gastro is treating moi empirically for miscroscopic colitis? Seems to be going well so far, but I have to continue for 6 weeks. I love that she doesn't label me with "IBS" and tell me to "stay away from things that make me ill". Refreshing as hell, I tell ya!!

I just have this nagging feeling that possibly there is a reason for all the additional intolerances--I mean, there HAS to be, right? Keep your phingers crossed ;)

Lisa-Do keep us posted on yer daughter. :)

PeOter--woids of wisdom, fer sure. You would get along well wif Mark--he's a history buff, too. Loves to read of WW2, and many other things I'm sure you would find interesting.

Amanda--a goil after me own 'art wif all the new clothes B) I'm weak in that respect--I love clothes and shoes and dear gawd, handbags. So shoot me

Well.....the last time I had it cut (right before I met Em), it was half curly (on top) and half straight (on the bottom). I got all the straightened part cut off, but that meant cutting it shorter than I normally would have with lots of layers.

Now, I've been growing it out since July, so I have more to work with :P I'm thinking of leaving the sides the length they are (about even wif the base of me jaw) and having the back cut to that same length wif layers in the back.

Whaddya think?

I must say I LOVE Cloris in pretty much everything she acts in, but it is awkward watching her on DWTS....she has toned it down a little I noticed and has been on a little bit of a tighter leash so to speak, but still kinda crazy.

 SQUICKY! A tremendous word. What does this mean? Nauseated? Nervous? The feeling you get when you look over a cliff?

Actually, I must share this: When I was a very small child, I inadvertently coined a phrase that has become part of my family lexicon . . . we use it regularly, and it is rooted now in our clan history. I was standing with my parents up in the Gatineau Hills, looking over a very steep cliff. I stepped quickly back and said, "I can't stand there and look down for very long . . . it makes my bum crinkle". . . .....:rolleyes:

Hello, I just wanted to share with the frustration of skin issues and seeing dermatologist and medications not working for years, I did my own healing experiment. As of last week I have been taking a drop internally under the tongue of Vetiver and putting on topically on sores Yellow/Pom.I am seeing a extreme difference at a rapid time.Im also noticing my nails a little harder. Ive always been into natural properties because I feel its safer for the body.I know short time, but really seeing a difference. I also feel the the trapped gases that causes bloating helps break down as well.Curious if any body else can benefit from and has tried. Products is made by Doterra by Dr Hill

We have a category of articles on this topic if you really want to dive into it: https://www.celiac.com/celiac-disease/miscellaneous-information-on-celiac-disease/gluten-free-diet-celiac-disease-amp-codex-alimentarius-wheat-starch/
    • Scott Adams
I agree with @trents, and the rash you described, especially its location and resistance to steroids, sounds highly characteristic of dermatitis herpetiformis, which is the skin manifestation of celiac disease. The severe and prolonged reaction you're describing five days after a small exposure is, while extreme, not unheard of for those with a high sensitivity; the systemic inflammatory response can absolutely last for several days or even weeks, explaining why you still don't feel right. Your plan to avoid a formal gluten challenge is completely understandable given the severity of your reactions, and many choose the same path for their well-being. While experiences with GliadinX (they are a sponsor here) are mixed, some people do report a reduction in the severity of their symptoms when taken with accidental gluten, though it is crucial to remember it is not a cure or a license to eat gluten and its effectiveness can vary from person to person. For now, the absolute best advice is to continue being hyper-vigilant about cross-contamination—buffets are notoriously high-risk, even with good intentions. Connecting with a gastroenterologist and a dermatologist who specialize in celiac disease is essential for navigating diagnosis and management moving forward. Wishing you a swift recovery from this last exposure. If you have DH you will likely also want to avoid iodine, which is common in seafoods and dairy products, as it can exacerbate symptoms in some people. This article may also be helpful as it offers various ways to relieve the itch:
    • Scott Adams
So just to be cautious, there is a big difference between cured, and responding to their medication. I assume you mean that your daughter responded well while taking KAN-101 during the trial, but the drug would not cure celiac disease, but may manage it while you are taking it. Let me know if I got this right.
    • trents
Welcome to the forum, @Godfather! "Gluten-free" is not the same as zero gluten. The FDA standard for allowing the food industry to us the gluten-free label on a product is that it cannot exceed 20 ppm of gluten. That is safe for most celiacs but not for the subset of celiacs/gltuen sensitive people who are super sensitive. "Gluten-free" wheat starch products have been processed in such a way to remove enough of the protein gluten to comply with the FDA regulation but usually do retain some gluten and we usually get reports from some people on this forum who fall in the more sensitive range that such products cause them to react. Hope this helps. So, you may just have to experiment for yourself.
