  1. This topic covers this in more detail:
  2. Gluten exposure in restaurants, even if they have a gluten-free menu, is very common. Just have a look at the articles below. If you do eat outside your home, like my family does, I recommend AN-PEP enzymes like those in GliadinX (full disclosure, they are a Celiac.com advertiser--but do not pay me to promote them in my forum--I run their ad because I have...
  3. If it has "gluten-free" on the label, no matter if it is at Walmart of Whole Foods, it is gluten-free and must test below 20 ppm or a very expensive food recall could be issued. Also, Barilla GF pasta is at Target and probably Walmart, which is excellent. Kraft just announced a new GF Mac n Cheese (ok, I know, not the most health choice!), as well as Nabisco...
  4. By the way I'm sorry to hear your last parrot died. I am surprised that they put gluten in parrot food, but I guess I shouldn't be. We don't two product reviews recently on gluten-free dog foods (and one also makes gluten-free cat foods), so the gluten-free trend is finally also catching on for pet foods. I wonder if you could do some homework on the nutritional...
  5. Celiac.com 11/30/2020 - Despite some good data on childhood antibiotic exposure, researchers still don't know much about the possible connections between antibiotic exposure in the first two years of life, and the risk of childhood immunological...
  6. Also, avoiding sugar and soft drinks would be recommended, mainly because they throw off your healthy gut flora.
  7. Sorry but I am not sure which book you mean. If you have more info please post it.
  8. This article explains the typical blood tests done, but the IgA and IgG look at different antibody levels.
  9. Two things come to my mind, and you've covered them both. Either it's cross-contamination, or certainly dairy products like cheese can go bad and cause food poisoning if not properly stored. Leaving it outside and unrefrigerated is probably not a good idea, especially if they do this for more than a day.
  10. I don't have much experience with MCS, but it sounds like it's difficult to deal with. Chemicals are in many things we put on our skin each day. Many people on this forum have spent years to get their celiac disease diagnosis, and I am no exception...it took my doctors several years to figure it out, even though I had pretty classic symptoms. In the...
  11. Many have reported similar issues. You mention the fructose issue and you have focused on this some, but many celiacs also need to go on a low FODMAP diet to fully recover. Have you tried this? Here is some research on it:
  12. The average time to heal is 2 years. Is there any chance you've gotten any cross-contamination? If you eat out regularly, this possibility is high.
  13. Recovery can take an average of 2 years IF you are 100% gluten-free. Many people take enzymes like GliadinX (they are a sponsor here) to help them deal with cross-contamination if they eat outside their homes...there are many studies that support their use for small amounts of accidental gluten: https://www.celiac.com/search/?q=gliadinx&quick=1&...
  14. I don't know much about parrot food, but can you find a gluten-free version? I would say that if you are super sensitive, this could be an issue.
  15. Is it possible that you are getting too much fiber? This can cause bloating. Cutting out sugar is very important when dealing with SIBO. Cutting carbs and going more paleo is a good idea, and be sure your diet is 100% gluten-free.
  16. This may not make you feel any better, but as someone who is newly diagnosed you may have temporary intolerances that could go away after a few months, or sometimes longer (mine took ~1-2 years to go away). At my diagnosis I could not eat chicken eggs, tomatoes, cow's milk/casein or corn. After about a year I was able to add some back, and I think it took...
  17. Yes, this is great news and we've been following it closely and doing summaries whenever new developments with it are posted: https://www.celiac.com/search/?q=Larazotide&quick=1&type=cms_records2
  18. Certainly if they were not properly cleaned they could still have trace amounts of gluten. Imagine a roommate who cooks gluten pasta in a pot which gets coated inside with gluten, then doing a poor job of cleaning it so there might be small amounts stuck inside that pot. Now imagine the colander used to screen out the water, and the screen also having trace...
  19. This seems to vary greatly from person to person. There is no specific formula, and many doctors don't do follow up blood tests to see if a patients antibody levels have dropped. I've not see any studies that track such drops after going gluten-free. In theory they should begin dropping as soon as you are 100% gluten-free, and after a few months should be...
  20. According to their web site it does not contain any gluten, so it is naturally gluten-free, but does not have "gluten-free" on the label: https://www.tazo.com/us/en/products/bottled/tazo-organic-awake.html
  21. Celiac.com 11/27/2020 - Summer has given away, and autumn is definitely beckoning with its crisp air and shortening days. Celebrate the transition with this simple, yet tasty salad that offers the best of summer and fall in one nutritious...
  22. Be careful...some of the Japanese curries use curry cubes that contain wheat. I've seen this personally when looking at them in Asian supermarkets.
  23. I hope everyone is having a happy gluten and covid-free Thanksgiving!
  24. Celiac.com 11/26/2020 - For all that recent research has told us about celiac disease, we still don't know whether changes in the intestinal microbiota of children with celiac disease contribute to the disease, or if they are a result...
